Halo 5 Campaign?

recently seen a bit of people complaining about Halo 5’s campaign, and can’t really see any issues with it. Can someone explain this dislike for me?

Because its so short. And people wanted to play as Chief more, not just for three missions. And the buildup was Chief vs Locke right? Boss battle right? Nope just a stupid cutscene. It made me pretty mad tbh.

Story wasn’t very well written. Blue team and chief were given almost no characterization, very unlike the books. They made the ending of halo 4 pointless by bringing cortana back. The story we were lead to believe was that ONI was the ultimate new villian, but instead we got a pretty poorly told AI turn Rouge story that barely features the chief or 3 beloved characters from The books. I understand if they want to move on from chief, but I feel it needs to be done in a game that focuses entirely on him, does him justice, and wraps his whole story up. Not him being shuffled to the side. That’s my opinion.

That too. Remember the Halo 4 final boss, and it was a quicktime? Well this time nobody even got to fight. It was kind of Chief and Locke pushing each other like kittens. And not only did Blue Team have no personality, neither did Osiris. The only person I felt compelled to revive at all during the campaign was Buck because he was an ODST. And now it looks like he has a drinking problem. They probably put so much effort into Warzone Campaign just turned out -Yoink-.

The writer they had wasn’t very good in my opinion. Haven’t seen any of his content that I was happy with. I felt compelled to revive blue team because I read the books. Frankie said that blue team don’t really have personallities, well did we read the same books? They’re full of personality. I love those characters. There’s a reason for that.

Anyway, the story would have been better to me if; chief discovers some nefarious plot by ONI, goes UA with blue team. Locke and his team get sent after him. Over the course of the campaign, Locke also comes to the same discovery. Chief and Locke team up against ONI. The game ends and halo 6 is set up pretty nicely with all 8 Spartans making guerrilla hits and on the run.

Halo 5’s campaign is generally regarded to as a monumental disaster and the worst one in the series. The whole game had a pointless plot. Regardless of what Chief or Locke did, the outcome is the same.

If you have the time, you’ll see why I have major problems with it.

Wow. Dr Halsey. Very well put. There was some lore related material even I hadn’t read in there. I loved reading your review, went pretty much exactly in line with my own thoughts and brought some things to my attention that I hadn’t noticed before. I went into this game expecting to get Halo 5: Star Wars Republic Commando. With ONI as the villian. I can’t really add anything to your review, all I can say is I hope Halo 6 is more character driven and you play solely as Blue team.

Emphasis on IF YOU HAVE THE TIME. I remember that wall, man. Thorough, but I’m willing to bet only the strongest of us made it through.
