To be honest I dont think Halo 5’s campaign was bad Heres why.
Halo was the First game i ever played it was introduced to me when i was 7 Halo reach to be exact Then after i completed the campaign i took a 5 year break for halo when heard about halo 5 i decided that id try it out And Halo 5 Is the exact game that got me Hooked into the halo franchise again With the new characters the new team Cortana and masters chief Rouge acts against the UNSC Made me Repeatedly wonder why so i purchased halo Graphic novels after Novels Went back and played the very first halo game and started over my journey and the pattern went like this Halo Reach/Halo 1/Halo 2/Halo3/Halo 4 /Halo 5 And got a true satisfying truth to Halo’s Story and now i am a huge fan of Halo
I mean there were some big points that really bothered me. The impact of H4’s ending is lost, whats the point of Chief grieving over Cortana when she just waltzes back in the next game. The whole Chief going rogue lasts for about a mission than is quickly swept under the rug when Locke saves him. The introduction of the created as a faction seems like a plot twist for the sake of plot twists. All previous signs pointed to the Didact returning (again) or Jul rounding up the remaining Covenant factions. These are my biggest gripes, and I am sure others will be quick to point out ones that I missed. Overall H5’s campaign was disappointing to say the least.
somethings are bad, like put a lot of characters without a little backstory in the game (I know that there is a lot of novels and comics but not all the people consume that), kill Mdama like a easy piece, but the gameplay and multiplayer is the better
it’s bad because i have not played " halo 5 guardians" but " blue team guatdians",like halo 4 only some points about some missions are enjoyable for me, the other halos simply was more enjoyable. When 343 arrived i have seen too many copy and paste then innovative content.
I have yet to beat the campaign for Halo 5. I often find myself wondering why I’m playing the campaign. I can’t find it in myself to keep playing it. I don’t know why, maybe it’s the new characters that feel distasteful to me, or the fact that it doesn’t feel enjoyable like the other Halos to me.
It gets a bit more hate than it deserves. The missions were fun to play and environments were great but story wasn’t good, didn’t make much sense, cliched, and why would anyone think fighting the warden that much was a good idea?
I completely understand why fans dish out over exaggerated hate towards Halo 4&5’s campaign. I really do, but something that I can’t understand is the “boomer” rants about the two games. I personally like how Halo 4 took us that touch further into the forerunner history, as someone who hasn’t read a single novel, Halo’s main campaign is literally my point of information and I was real excited by the first ¼ of Halo 4… But as people will agree. The missions were just slow and tedious. The Prometheans arent that interesting to go against and they only got a touch better in halo 5.
Guardians Campaign on the other hand (apart from the dreary forerunners) was a super interesting campaign with a follow up and visual setting that I did not expect. Playing as Locke was a real nice touch too because even though you’re supposed to be chiefs hunter, Locke takes on the mindset of the player and the player just constantly wants to find out why tf chiefs gone juju!!! The Guardians themselves I still need a bit of explaining. Not really sure what they are and from what I can remember they’re basically baby versions of halo rings?? For a smaller scale focused attack?? Idk I really wasn’t in the know about those bigass bottle openers and like they’re the biggest part of the game and will probably be a huge part to infinite… Infact I’m gunna post this and go watch a video on the Guardians.
Since you read to the bottom of a very boring post (sorry)
Can anyone tell me why everyone seems to HATE on the fact that you can sprint and aim down the scope in the more modern games??? If it wasn’t for that. Halo 4 wouldn’t of got me and my boys in a fireteam sweating online until we were virgins again.
I think if the marketing for 5 wasn’t so enticing, then the game’s actual story might not have been so disappointing. Looking at you, #HuntTheTruth. Aside from retconning/repurposing Cortana’s death in 4, the story in 5 isn’t that bad. If it was the Didact in Cortana’s spot, I may have enjoyed that a bit more.
Poor storytelling.
Bland characters.
Those underdeveloped walk and talk sections.
But…
I love the Halo 5 campaign and have sunk more than 120 hours into replaying it.
It features some of my fave levels in a halo game; the second mission, ‘Blue team’ is superb and ‘Sword of sanghelios’ is also a standout, along with ‘enemy within’ and ‘Battle of Sunihon’ (can’t remember how to spell that one!)
I adore how the game plays; everything feels tuned to perfection; boosting, ground pounding, spartan charging, the impact of the weapons. It’s the best playing fps for me, surpassing Doom 2016, Titanfall, call of duty, and even Bungie’s Destiny games.
It is also a technical marvel, managing a locked 60fps on a base XB1, while rendering large environments with dozens of A.i onscreen.
And that A.i is really fun to fight, especially the covenant. The prometheans aren’t quite as successful, but the Knight variants are satisfying to blast apart and the ant dog things bring a nice sense of chaos to the battlefield, and are satisfying to headshot.
The soudtrack is also excellent. Not Marty O’Donnel quality, but still excellent. Sound design is fantastic overall and it sounds phenomenal on a good 5.1 set-up thanks to the superb mixing.
Yes, those infamous Warden fights could have been better (alot better!), the story is really badly communicated, the walk and talk stages feel hollow and dull and i really miss Halo 3’s sense of humor (343 did attempt to add the comedy back in, but it fell flat for me), but despite those flaws Halo 5 remains my favourite and most replayed fps campaign of this generation.
Halo 3 is still the king though!
Honestly the thing that ticks me off about the campaign is the mainly the story and the AI, I don’t really need to brush up on the story but the AI bothers me cause it’s just very lazily made, they had more powerful hardware but still do the same thing they did with halo 4’s AI which is downgrade it. And these are 2 very big problems in my opinion cause it can make the game extremely boring, although I will say. The level design for this game was actually really good. Very interesting looking environments along with lots of multiple paths and open spaces. They have lots of good arenas to battle the enemies and the easter eggs were also really nice. It gives the game some bright spots. It’s definitely the weakest campaign in the series, although It’s not terrible.
It’s great that it got you into Halo again. I see the campaign as the one liked the least. I think it get’s too much hate, but I do have to say that the false marketing bothered me. I didn’t think the story was that great, but the levels were fun to play and well designed (I can forgive the multiple fights with Warden.)
My opinion of it has changed a lot in the last few years. Most of the levels are fine with a few nice set pieces. There were some odd choices made in terms of characterization where actual bits that would add to it aren’t guaranteed to be triggered and sometimes require you to be waiting around for quite a while. I think a lot of my initial disappointment was due to the chief’s introspection hinted at by the end of h4. It’s nowhere near as bad as I used to think it was, though far from stellar. I suspect that what we got wasn’t near what was planned and that quite a bit had to be cut based on the way some of the levels and features feel and the ad campaign (though it’s hard to say if 343 actually had any input into that.) Overall I’d put it down as ‘average’ these days.
I thought it was marginally better than halo 4, but the first one was really what got me hooked onto this franchise. And Reach and ODST was special in it’s own way too. Can’t wait to see what infinite has to offer though!

Wow to be Honest i didn’t expect this much reply’s to my QUOTE but Thanks and A question im thinking about leaving my company and opening a new one to get help with Armour
I’m glad you liked it OP. As a whole entire package - factoring in the gameplay, level design, set pieces, and some of the side stories - it probably gets a little more hate than it deserves.
Most of those of us that hated it, especially among folks who like the lore, just felt the main story was a dumpster fire, that’s all.
