SO once again this ranking system is proven bad. In arena I played against a few btb teams ( actual teams ) That went into a objective based game type and only slayed. They messaged me after and said " enjoy the derank". Anotherwards the whole btb team was losing on purpose to be ranked very low in your ranking system so they can beat up on the bad kids later once their ranked. SO once again this ranking system is flawed!!
The ranking system should purely be based on halo 3’s system or even reaches ranking system to avoid the derank. How many btb teams did you see derank in halo 3? That’s right not many. Ive seen so many already since btb came out just so their kd spread can look super d duper. So the question is, was this even an issue when making the game? Did they think about the try hards that don’t care about wins just kd? The ranking system needs to be overhauled and very quickly.
Fyi This is just my opinion but sure seems like a lot of others too… Just hoping 343 sees that maybe its time to have your average gamers imput rather than mlg players making your game.
Ohhh and reporting it does nothing ofcourse so any ideas on how to stop this then 343?
With a skill based system this is what you end up getting, but I still like ranking this way better then the EXP progression crap.
I still find matches way more competitive now then I ever did with exp progression.
They won’t fix it. Looks like we all need to start doing this. I really miss the “every one starts off at rank 1 then climbs to 50” ranking system. Less flawed, and alot more rewarding.

BTB is notorious for deranking and quitting. I’d much prefer a separate playlist for BTB Slayer b/c objectives is too flawed.
You don’t need either/or for ranking. You can have a separate EXP progression and skill-based. Placing everything on a team’s win/loss is -Yoinking!- stupid. It ignores/penalizes individual performance. If my team loses but I do well then increase my rank just not as much as if my team won. If I do -Yoink- but my team wins then I shouldn’t’ get as many points.
Sorry, but I have too much pride to lose on purpose. I play to get better and have fun. I don’t see why people play to derank…
The only way to fix it (for objective games) is to make it so that k/d isn’t tracked. Killing isn’t the objective of the game, it helps, but capping the flag, stronghold, hill, etc is the main goal. But as long as k/d is tracked in objective game types, people will use them to rack up kills.
I honestly don’t care what they do. If they want to have a low rank and play with people not as good as them then so be it. In the past I have joined a lobby and ended up being the ‘random’ on a very good team and I decided to stay with them for a few more games but they were so good it was boring so I left the lobby lol not sure how people can boost all day and never have a challenge.
Look at it this way. If a team lost all their placement matches on purpose so they can play against lower skilled players they are not going to get much better since they rarely have a challenge. You on the other hand having to play better players all the time is going to increase your skill and in the long run you will be a very skilled player. Probably better than all of them that do this.
