Just wondering about the new spartan above Master Chief on the box art, and if whether or not he’s wearing Mjolnir Mark VII armor? The armor is very streamlined and small compared to Chiefs Mark VI, that being said I do like it even though it doesn’t make the Spartan look like a tank.
So could we see a return to using our own spartans from multiplayer in Campaign like in Halo Reach? Maybe this is why the spartan seems so barren because it has to be generic to fit everyone, and will be customizable in game? All questions and mindless wondering, but I would love to play alongside Master Chief.
I don’t think it’s Mark VII. However, since this Spartan obviously has close ties to ONI, this armor set could be related to REAP-x in some way or form.
To me this new Spartan appears to be wearing an updated version of Halo 4’s Soldier armour. I think the armour is too streamlined to be part of the Mjolnir Mk series.
Has anyone else noticed that there has been 2 versions of that image published? They have different backgrounds.

That does not look like Mk. VII it seems to be a continuation of Gen. 2.
This is Mjlnoir Mk. VII that Naomi-010 wears.
I would have to agree that it looks a lot like the Gen2 Soldier armor, but the torso of the soldier just isn’t wearing the Soldier chest the two are completely different from one another. That’s what makes me think it’s Mark VII instead of Gen 2 armor. And oddly enough it does remind me of Naomi’s Mark VII from the canon, this and it could be a different set of Mark VII than hers.

This would be kind of cool. I do hope REAP-x comes into the games with Halo 5.

Spartan-IV’s have a wide variety of chestplate, so I don’t see how that can be an indicator for Mk. VII. I don’t see how it looks like Mk. VII that Naomi is wearing, if anything it reminds me of Mk. V. But you could be right that it oculd be different.
Well Mark VII does change according to the users preference so that could be it, overall I’m not quite sure, and could someone explain to me what Reap-X is I tried to google it and nothing.
Maybe this spartan is the one from the beginning Halo 4 cutscene where Halsey accused the Oni spokesman of trying to replace chief, that he is this spartan that was secretly added into Halo 4’s plot at the beginning.

What Mk. VII can do is passively upgrade it self while the user is in cryo-sleep with the use of Nano-technology. Also, capable of exo-atmospheric insertion.
REAP-X Reverse Engineering and Prototyping - Xenotechnology
Basically a group of ONI agents that Reverse enginer any Alien tech and re-purpose it for their own use.
I would actually doubt that the Interrogator would be the ONI Spartan since Josh Holmes did say he would be a brand new character.

Haven’t noticed the different backgrounds, good find!
I wouldn’t say anything is “confirmed” yet aside from the title of the game.

I never noticed that.
I don’t think it’s a Mark VII. Maybe a new model for the Gen 2
actually if you follow Josh Holmes on twitter then you know that is not the cover art. Someone asked why the chief was down on the cover art and if he was no longer going to be the hero. Josh replied by saying that is not the cover art. If you don’t believe me check out his twitter from 2 days ago
Niaomi’s armor was a Mk. Vii outfitted to LOOK like Mk. V in Halo: The Thursday War. There was a quote where Vaz wondered why it looked like a Mk. V, thinking it was supposed have a retro aspect to it much like “an old pair of jeans” as he stated or something like that.
Also, that because Chief’s armor was passively upgraded through nanotech this further makes me believe that Chief’s armor has become Mk. Vii (which passively upgrades itself). The new Vii the new ONI guy is wearing (yes to anyone who didn’t know -it is confirmed that it’s a HE) looks very similar to Chief’s upgraded. Also look at the Mk. Vi in Halo 4 multiplayer that looks similar to Chief MK. Vi armor from Halo 3 (pre-upgraded and all). 343 did say that the armor were in fact canon. Remember the beginning of Halo 4? Where a bunch of Spartans just dropped in looking the same with the same generic–Yoinked!- armor? I may be completely off on this, but I truly believe that both armors are Mk. Vii, its just that Chief’s is a little bit different for being upgraded out of a Mk. Vi (plus he’s a Spartan II which I’m guessing the other guy is not).
One more thing, if I’m somehow right about all this, then the armor may symbolize the movement between the Xbox 360 Halo engine to Xbox One Halo engine. Halo 4 pretty much maxed out what the Xbox 360 can handle, Halo 5 would set the new Halo standards through a new engine.
Jesus I wrote an essay. My absolute respect to anyone who read this theory.

Well, the Spartans in the Prologue are wearing a variant of Mk.IV and Cortana altered Chief’s Mk.VI to resemble it. Why? -Yoink- if I know.

'Cause they were laze and didn’t want to make 3 different variants of the armor.
Slightly off-topic but why do I feel like the man is related to the guy from the Halo 4 intro asking questions.
I accidentally voted “Yes”.

Yes, that’s part of my theory.
