Skill/Balance:
The game needs to be balanced by skill level, not skill as a whole. The best way to get a real balanced, competitive game is to pit two equally skilled GOOD teams vs each other… Then take those good players and put them against average skilled players… Are the games still close? Is the average skilled team winning some games? They shouldn’t be.
The game needs to have a trickle down approach when it comes to skill… Not trickle up. Stop trying to make the game closer when it’s noob vs average player or average vs good player… This is not the way to make a competitive game. when you try and do this, you have an opposite balance affect. What ends up happening is a good team can end up THRASHING an equally good team if they get certain weapons and position first.
Halo: CE had balance perfect…games were close for noob vs noob, intermediate vs intermediate… And so on… The mix of starting with a good weapon, a set weapon timing system that helped prevent camping weapons and made a battle for these weapons… Halo: CE had the ability to blow weapons to help you get a weapon if in a bad spot, or prevent the other team from getting it. Everything worked.
Bowling With Bumpers - In competitive play:
This has been my distaste for halo since Halo 2. So don’t worry 343… You cater to the love of pray and spray just like bungie did after Halo 1.
With no bumpers, a good bowler will dominate someone who isn’t very good at bowling… Add in the bumpers and the game becomes a lot closer. The bumpers can actually mess with the style of bowling for the better player… The immature worse bowler will just tell the better bowler to “adapt” and stop complaining.
Now, is this balance in a good way? No. Maybe another good bowler doesn’t use a spin in his style… Meaning he now has the advantage over the other bowler who is equally/better skilled in a no bumper league.
this has been Halo since Halo 2.
Auto Aim/Aim Assist/Magnetic Bullets:
Please make this on par with what Halo: CE has. I get that you’re trying to compensate for lag… But it is ridiculous. This caters to people who don’t aim their weapons well… Creating a closer match between a poor player and good player. This is the wrong kind of balance.
Starting Weapon:
oh oh how I’d love a Halo:CE pistol start with the graphics of Halo 5… I know that won’t happen… So I’ll plead for the alternative.
Bungie made this mistake in all of their games except for Halo: CE Classic mode. Halo 2 started us with the useless SMG. Now, once one team acquired the BRs they would proceed to demolish the opposition. Halo 3 then started us with the AR… But game a boost in power and accuracy to it… Still horrible for the same reasons. Insert halo reach and halo 4 for same reasons… Boosting the power of these does not create balance and does not create a good starting weapon… It only promotes pray and spray which is a noobs dream.
All Around Weapon:
this goes with the above, but I felt needed to be seperate too.
One needs to start with an “all around” weapon… Which is why the pistol in Halo: CE was perfect… It could kill a lesser skilled player who is spraying an AR/shorty/plasma close range… However, those same close ranged weapons could easily kill a pistol weirder in the hands of a good player.
It it could also do the same at keeping a sniper at bay, and give you a chance vs someone with rockets.
The BR/DMR are acceptable replacements, however it is hindered when, at mid range, someone with an AR or SMG can take you down rather quickly. Sure, if you both start shooting at the same time, the BR can still win… But gone are the days where you can get shot by a lesser player, turn around and kill them because you’re better/smarter. These type of kills don’t happen near as often as they should…
this game has potential to be a good game… But it is not off to a good start in MY opinion.
