Halo 5 Beta, Yes or No

Thoughts

Yes. If they do it right it could really benefit them.

I’m thinking I speak for a lot of the community when I say…Yes. We need a beta.

Many bugs were resolved from Halo 3 and Halo REACH Beta’s for final release of the game.

A lot of Halo 4 issues could had already been resolved if the game had a public Beta.

The Beta needs to be released 6-8 months before final release and we need at least 2 weeks of Beta Access.

This should allow 343 plenty of time to fix most major bugs or make changes to the sandbox, and be in the process of an early release TU.

Which could be released 1 month after launch, to resolve any minor issues.

This would be a much better process than what we had with Halo 4.

The biggest issue with REACH, was the Title Update that was finally released by 343, was way way too late.

If the game requires a TU, it should be released no later than 1-2 months after launch.

yes but i dunno how they would do it unless people bought the XB1 the say of release.

The next Halo comes out a year after the XbOne does… plenty of time to beta.

A beta won’t fix everything for the final product, but it will spot the obvious flaws and is good for advertising the game (getting people hyped for it).

Yes

Soooooo many of Halo 4s mistakes could have been fixed before the game even came out if there was a beta .

Yes Yes Yes

Yes, having a public beta would allow the players to give feedback on the game’s issues; Glitches, balancing and questionable features. This feedback would allow 343 to perfect the game. Halo 4 was only playtested by MLG players, so not many people could fully test the game and find all the issues, because of limited players.

It took them a while to perfect Halo 4 and by that time, most of the players had forgotten about the game, which really damaged the reputation of 343Industries. If this happens again, then I’m afraid 343 may have to say goodbye to the only fanbase the series has left.

Don’t let this happen again 343! Give us a beta!

Hell to the yes it does

They absolutely should. It should be an open Beta (rather than like Reach where you needed to have bought a previous game to attend). This would allow it to be more accessible for both players that have already made up their minds about whether to get it or not and those who may want to see what Halo is all about (new players that 343i tried to attract with the inclusion of certain gameplay mechanics) to have a hands-on experience with what the game has to offer. Aside from testing for bugs in the coding/programming, they should also make it a big priority to show the fans that they have listened to our cries for certain changes, showing us what they will be offering us in this game, and making sure to see how the game needs to be tweaked to be more balanced at launch.

The only real concern I have is whether 343i will actually take the fans’ outcries and opinions into real consideration when developing this new Halo game. If they can pull it off, it could mean a bright future for both the Halo franchise and the Xbox One in general. If they fail, however, well… I’d rather not think about that. The point is that they should realize that the players are the ones to please and endeavor to do so with gusto.

I don’t think a beta would go well with two years of development time. Getting everything ready on time would be really hard for 343i and the amount of time and resources spent on sustaining the beta will be taken away from the game itself. In the end, the feedback coming from open betas was never good enough.

I think they should stick to a closed beta, but have some sort of registration available for anyone (basically we would all be eligible) so the pain of managing the servers and handling the community will be gone. Also, as part of a “fee” for said beta testers, they would HAVE to write feedback after five games to keep playing and they would be constantly reminded to write down any issues they find.

So instead of 2 million people wanting to play a demo, we’d get around 5 thousand people that would actually be useful to the game. All sorts of videos would be posted on YouTube, and people, and viewers would also have the option to post feedback (but it would be under the category of “Viewer Feedback” as opposed to “Player Feedback” which would only be accessible in-game). I think this would be the best option.

Plenty of time for you, not for the developers. They should not be expected to lock down whole aspects of the game in a year and a half of development, and making an open beta just a couple of months before release would be pointless because they wouldn’t have enough time to fix the reported issues. It’s not so simple, making a game in two years.

Which begs an important question: why is 343i trying to get their first Halo title for the next generation of Xbox out the door with so little development time? Doesn’t strike me as the wisest thing to do, even with a larger team and - theoretically - better game direction, and especially considering the quality of Halo 4 after three years of development.

A beta would be nice. Plus, feedback is always good in improving aspects of a game. I think Halo 5 would benefit tremendously if they had some sort of beta.

Maybe have the beta but I highly recommend get testers in there in the earlier build from classic fan’s of h1/2/3, not fan’s of reach/4 and maybe they’ll get Halo5 right.

The reason they didn’t have a Halo 4 beta is because they knew they had changed so much that people would complain for hem to change everything back to Halo 3 so i think that now everyone knows what they can and are going to do they will probably have a beta and I hope they do. It will probably be around E3 next year or maybe Comic Con

Halo 5 is being released after the XBO. If it’s not a rushed release title… then I hope they take their sweet time with it. Really, beta or bust. Trust has already dropped so far.

Do it right. If they hype it up half as well as they did for Halo 4… but have a higher player retention rate, I will be one happy Spartan.

I play Halo for the long term playability. If the next halo looks anything like Halo 4 did at release, I’ll have to find a different game that holds its community.

A Beta for the next Halo isn’t optional.
