Halo 5 beta will have forgettable maps

sorry but i dont trust 343 at all to make iconic maps for this.

every map in halo 4 is very forgettable.

you look at iconic maps like lockout and midship and compare them to halo 4.

its like they’re not even close. and based on some of the early pics ive seen in the h5 beta reveal. theres seems to be a remade midship but again it could turn out to be the next “blackout” same layout but horrible redesign. and then boring maps with just a bunch of corridors in like a hanger or something

im very worried that h5 beta is going to be very underwhelming.

Some beta maps may be forgettable, but I’m just worried about the gameplay more than anything.

Does anyone know if Max Hoberman is helping 343 with the development of Halo 5, or is he only helping with the MCC. Cause if Max is helping with Halo 5 then OP don’t fret. Max created all the best maps for Halo, I highly recommend you watch the Rooster Teeth Expo Halo Panel from this year. Just listen to Max talk and all your map worries will go away.

When I think Halo 4 maps, I think Haven, Exile, the entire Majestic trio, Longbow, Abandoned, and a group of others.

And… I’m sorry, were the maps for the beta leaked?
Didn’t think so.

Look man, we’ve only seen glimpse of two, maybe three maps, one of them is a remastered Midship. Stop bashing the game, no, the beta, before it’s even released or gameplay revealed.

Ever hear the phrase ‘never judge a book by it’s cover’?
Don’t judge the beta from split-second glimpses from half the maps.

While I can’t stand Halo 4 in terms of gameplay, they did create some goods maps. Majestic DLC was great in general. Perdition was also great. Anybody else feel like the DLC maps (excluding Crimson DLC) looked and played better than the launch maps.

Who needs knowledgeable sources when all it comes down to is “trust”?

This community sometimes.

I would say it is a bit early to be judging the game, or even the beta before we know a lot about it. A few of Halo 4 maps were good, just got to keep positive about it all.

Erm…Haven? I honestly find this map to be pretty iconic in Halo 4. It’s a joy to play on, and I wouldn’t mind some remakes of it in future titles

I hear what you’re saying about H4 maps. I can count maybe 3 on-disc maps I like (sorry, Haven, but you’re too much like every other Halo arena map… yawnstipating at this point in my life). The really good ones were DLC, and sadly I never got to play them.

But, I refuse to look back at H4 when thinking about Guardians. 343 knows it was a dud, and I’m sure they recognize the map problem as a part of that.

Plus, as said above, I’m not playing the Beta for the maps, though I will be interested to get a feel for the direction they take.

Can I borrow your magic crystal ball please?

Well, as long as you’re sorry (as you should be), then I accept your apology.

Knowing nothing about the Guardians Beta maps, posts bitter rant about it anyway.

I mean, two of the H3 beta maps were High Ground and Snowbound. Maybe not forgettable, but online because how bad they were. Thank baby Jesus for the Pitt and Guardian.

Every Halo had at least one forgettable map. Stating that the maps of a game that is not even close to being revealed (gameplay-wise) is just tomfoolery.

I disagree entirely with the point of 343 failing to make any iconic maps. There are still some maps in Halo 4 I feel were fantastic, though most of them were DLC. Daybreak, Perdition, Shatter, Haven, Skyline, and Monolith instantly come to mind.

Which has the obvious solution of complaining about it before anyone actually sees it.

You can always stay on Halo: TMCC while I keep up with the saga.

I wouldn’t call Halo 4’s maps forgettable, but they’re not the best either.

Of 343’s creations Haven, Skyline, Complex, Settler and Shatter were my favourites .

Adrift was enjoyable overall but seemingly had camping spots intentionally built into it to promote the use of PV. Also there could’ve been a few more minor elevation changes to balance out the sniper rifle.

Solace was a little too similar to Isolation; one of Halo 3’s least popular maps. It felt cluttered and had this weird separated 2 level design. If you’re going to have 2 main levels there should be more interaction between them.

Exile was a great map for infantry but suffered from uninteresting vehicular play (which is extremely important for BTB). Don’t get me wrong it was still fun to drive around in circles and slaughter the enemy team with the Guass Hog, but it just felt too limited.

Of the maps I actually got a chance to play Harvest was arguably the most forgettable. Its overly simplistic design (3 nearly identical structures, some open space and a bunch of rocks) made for an excellent Warthog map but that was about it.

Since H4 still feels fairly recent lol, I think Haven, Adrift, Exile, and Simplex (a forge map xD) are the maps that will most likely be remembered as time passes.

With AAs gone and focus on arena, we may start to see more unique maps. It would be a given if Sprint left too, but that’s not happening imo.

You could be right or wrong who know we will just have wait and see
