Halo 5 Beta Will End January 22!

Got this from GameStop’s HMCC page:

“Limited Time Beta Starts: December 27, 2014; Ends: January 22, 2015”

Sources, of course. Check the Important Information tab.

I’m hoping that is placeholder…? That is way too short in my opinion. Frank did say they were going to have it run way before launch to ensure they can get community feedback. I’m sure we will get clarification in the near future.

I’m also curious to see how these forums are with a beta…

That’s what I’m hoping for, too.

Three weeks for a public beta is pretty good for me. The fact they’re willing to do it so early makes me think we’ll see a lot more open and honest progress of the game compared to Halo 4 to make the experience much better in the final game.

Why would you say that?

On topic: It’s probably legit. 3 weeks of beta sounds awesome!

I agree, we were left 100% in the dark for that multiplayer with the phrase, “just trust us”. I’m really happy to see that they are proving they will be open with the multiplayer this far in advance. Also, I may want a longer beta time due to selfish reasons of just wanting to play more. I know I will actually submit feedback for the entire duration of the beta, but I can admit, I just want to get my hands on it and have fun as well.

Didn’t Gears 3 last about 3-4 weeks? I remember that, it was pretty good.

I am okay with that

That gives us almost a month of Beta time, which is more than fine if you ask me! Having the Beta start during the Christmas Holidays will help ensure a large population as well, since people will have some time off to play it.

I’m calling it now: Xbox Live will have serious issues or shutdown all together on December 27 as people rush to get access to the beta.

Hopefully by December, we have access to pre-loading on the Xbox One and pre-loading it a week before will be an option. That’ll help big time.

I don’t doubt it by any means. Still… Worth it!

Timing was perfect. I see myself playing it most of break.

Also at the bottom of the front page of Waypoint:

“Limited Time Beta Starts: December 27, 2014; Ends: January 22, 2015.”

Seems definitive.

This seems about right to me. I like that it’s over winter break; I will be off school, but I almost never pick up extra work hours over that time period. I usually just take the time off to kind of unwind and prepare to focus on my studies next semester. So having the Halo 5: Guardians beta to occupy my time will be a godsend.

Drat, right during my exam times!

How could this possibly be way too short?! Halo 3 and Reach only had 2-week betas if I remember correctly. I was assuming it would be from December 27th - January 12, which allows 2 full weeks and then the last 2 days are also a weekend. That’s more than enough ample time.

Also, seeing as it would be Christmas break still for college/schools, there’d be plenty of people populating the game to get enough feedback in that timeframe.

Why do you think they’re releasing the MCC collection? It includes the beta invite so they know just how many people to optimize the servers for. I’d say Live would go down the day the collection launches haha but MS is pretty good historically with server issues.

Seems like a fair amount of time. That’s 26 days we get to play and give feedback. The sheer scope of people playing this beta should be able to get the job done in this time frame. Finding glitches and discrepancies shouldn’t be to difficult.

The fact that there is even a beta for Halo 5 is just awesome. At least we are getting a taste of the game and as said before not left in the dark and believe that they would deliver the Halo game we all want to play.
