Halo 5 Beta (My thoughts)

First off just an issue I’ve been experiencing. I sometimes get hit by bullets not directly aimed at me. I’m not sure if it is lag or not but even on kill cams it has me behind a wall and still being shot despite it not even being aimed at me. It has happened a few times now so it can’t be complete coincidence.
I’m not fully confident about the removal of armor abilities. Judging by some comments on threads I seem to be a minority but personally I loved armor abilities. Especially ones like armor lock, hologram, jet pack and so on. To me it was one of those major aspects that differentiated the franchise from other first person shooters, an aspect I thoroughly enjoyed and took full advantage of especially in forge maps for the unique fun you can get from them. I have a large group of friends that started playing halo only because of the armor abilities, some of which still don’t believe me when I say there won’t be any in the next game. From halo 3 to reach to halo 4 it just seemed to be growing to something amazing and opened it up to new cool ideas to make the games really competitive and enjoyable. So it took me really by surprise when I heard it was completely turfed for the next instalment. Again this is just my opinion and I’m aware a lot of people despise armor abilities.
In saying that I like the new Spartan abilities such as ground pound, the grabs, etc. I love the integration of it to make it a level playing field, but for me the choice of having armor abilities will be really missed.
So far however the Beta has been really enjoyable and simply can’t wait for the complete release of the game.

Well I liked the idea of Armor abbilities as well, it was something you still don’t see in any other game out there. I didn’t like Armor Lock and Hologram, hologram should have been a map pickup and Armor Lock was kinda gamebreaking at times.

The competitive community did not like armor abilities which is why they are removed and which is why 343 made spartan abilities that everyone has. It’s more balanced this way but I still didn’t mind having armor abilities, they added a new addition to the gameplay elements of Halo and was easy to take out from the competitive playlists.

Halo 4 introduced real loadouts which I didn’t like, they gave Halo unfair starts which doesn’t fit the game and I’m glad that’s gone in Halo 5.

Halo 5 is tons of fun and a lot better than Halo 4 but I do think the art was better in Halo 4 as of right now but lot of things can change in 8-9 months.

I was neither here nor there in terms of the load outs. They may have been uneven in ways but it gave people choice to start with what they are comfortable with or better with.

Armor lock was one of my favourites, though its annoying being on the receiving end and being killed buy it there were always players who used it wrong. Some cases it was just a wait till they’re vulnerable to kill them. Even if they gave a playlist with armor lock specifically in it like a BTB variation. When they gave us the energy shield in halo 4 I thought that was cool but rather inefficient and useless when using it, especially wen you compare it to what armor lock could do.
Despite Halo 4s bad rep among the community it’s still my favourite in terms of story, gameplay, and what they tried to do with multiplayer. Everyone speaks of Halo 4 as a colossal failure despite it’s reviews and from my own sense of enjoyment.

For halo 5 I just wished they somehow kept armor abilities. To at least give us choice, which now for all those who played to use armor abilities will now feel like they’re at a loss.
