in pax 2014 panel was asked for a large big team slayer for 62 vs 62 francs O’Connor replied that there were no plans because they did’nt know how it would work. I was just thinking to myself “what is a better place to test something than an open beta” if it works can it be better developed, and if it does’nt work, the map that is created can it be used for a kind of forge word or in parts be chopped for multiple maps with 8 vs 8 or 4 vs 4
is this a good idee?
I’m with Frankie on this one, I don’t see it working and not sure if it’s worth testing.
The sandbox is tuned to 4v4 and 8v8, the maximum player count I can see working is 12v12, I’d rather have them not waste time on something that would most not likely work.
If they don’t know how it would work, how would they even get it to a beta stage? That’s skipping a whole lot of steps.
Vehicles would have to be heavily changed to survive against a larger team, even with PP/PG out of the equation, to survive a team of 12 or more.
It would also take away the importance of the individual as well. With more people fighting, being left on your own is even more punishing with all the extra guns being pointed against you.
I dont think they need a beta for this. A custom game can display the challenges that can be the cause of having more people in each team. Getting them to work in that environment is difficult to get them to work, while making them maintain the same feel that we get in an 8v8 environment.
I understand that it is indeat a to big step to have a 62 vs 62 but a 16 vs 16 or a 12 vs 12 can work it is in a bigger map possible. vehicles are a bigger thing in it. it is mora a game of teamwork becouse in te most vehicles you have a driver and a gunner and you must captiure strategic points. in halo 4 on the map satller is the hill a strategic point but it is just one so evriwan is pointing on that in a bigger map wiht more players can you have more points to hold I ting a 16 vs 16 on a large map wil be fun and work good
itd be cool if there was just one map one gametype for the mass scale 64 v 64, and there was no end to the game, people just came in, tried to defend or capture points for Red or Blue. something like Planetside 2, or mmo pvps.
it’s just be an endless Red vs Blue ^^
64 vs 64 is simply not Halo. The most I can see is 16 vs 16 and even that’s a stretch. The ideal new cap IMO would be 12 vs 12, that way they wouldn’t need a ridiculous number of maps so big and small team games could have a large pool of them (since 4v4 is Halo multiplayer’s heart, and we can never abandon that).
I recognize 4v4 being the heart of Halo, but I still don’t see why that precludes forays into bigger game types.
BTB has consistently been one of the most populated playlists after the 4v4 ones. Why would we ignore the trend toward bigger battles?
I say keep that combat evolving and push the boundaries. Not that you should tailor the playlist to the functionality, but a XL-sized BTB would be a better platform for leveraging JIP, and thus getting players into action faster (without necessarily drastically impacting the overall scoring.)
While I would like to see even bigger BTBs, 64 vs 64 is a bit much. 12 vs 12 is really the maximum.
64 vs 64 is indeed too big, but a 16 vs 16 is not, I think if it does not work they can always reduce it to a 12 vs 12 in the same map

The problem is that Halo is not designed for that many players and weapons to be present at one time. More players mean bigger maps and more power weapons - in a scenario like this the current vehicles could be butchered by just the DMR or any weapon really. If you want to look at larger player counts then you’d need to completely overhaul the vehicles and weapons.
At the end of the day most games are either designed for large scale battles or small scale battles - not both. Games like BF4 do not work well if there aren’t a lot of people playing for example, everything is balanced around the idea that there will be people there with you.
I actually had an idea that would maybe get 16v16 to complement Halo quite well. I’ll link it.
“Warzone”
I think after giving this a read, 16v16 might look better to some readers.
I’m not sure if they could support another big mode like that. Why would anyone play normal big team, then?
I think the better way to get big battles in would be to have a firefight versus mode with a lot of players on each side and AI on each side too.
8v8 is max, anything over that and its getting absurd.
I was never a fan of BTB anyway, but having occassionally played it; 8v8 seemed more than enough.

with AI is it more like titanfall or some thing but it mey work ant when it not workes, can they remove it (that is the power of a beta)
