I just got done watching a few gameclip’s i saved. I prefer alot of things in the beta that I noticed didnt make it into the final game.
The sounds in the beta were great. I loved the sound of the BR and the shield recharge.
There was way more gore in the beta and the maps had interactive elements. (the shield’s on truth would be destroyed in the middle of the map if shot). I don’t think they get destroyed in the finale.
I don’t think you’re alone in that thought, me and loads of my friends thought the beta was better in every way. They’re all gone now, playing Doom, Titanfall, BF1 etc.
The beta was superior yes. The aiming actually felt like Halo. Why they figured it would be a good idea to destroy the series’ aim mechanics and alienate a massive chunk of the player base right at launch is completely beyond me.
Beta looked “so” much better then the final version, at least as far as spartan textures, lighting, and customization menu.
Halo 5 downgraded a lot in that aspect, but it’s balanced very well in terms of gameplay, it’s more comfortable then the beta was. That balance however does not extend to the whole playstyle argument of comp vs social though, halo 5 beta and alpha both dropped the ball with that one… and it splattered to the floor making a big mess…
I for one could not stand the beta at all in terms of gameplay, so I must disagree with that. But in terms of “how it looked and sounded”, then yes, it was much better. The colors and lighting were so much better, the low shield alarm was great, it really made the armor feel new and not just a copy and paste of the past games as it is now. The main menu was actually pretty nice as well, not just the Infinity by a planet… like really, who thought that was a cool menu? Everything is more organized now though even if it is horrifyingly bland, and brighter… holy crap the beta customization menu was dark. Still does not come close to comparing to Halo: Reach or Halo 4’s customization menus though.

This. Halo 5’s current aiming system is among one of it’s greatest flaws, and has made a lot of people dislike the game.
I got halo 5 about 3 to 4 months after it came out, i never seen the beta but i just looked it up and omg the visuals main menu and everything looked so much better, 343 what have you done
I enjoyed the Beta more on some aspects. When you reached full speed in sprint, your screen had this little “ommph” and it looked so cool. It’s gone now. Another thing that I liked was the Magnum’s Smart-Scope. It was so accurate. A little bit more than what we have now. The Assault Rifle was amazingly accurate when Smart-Scoped. Its crosshairs were as small as Halo 3’s crosshairs. The Prophet’s Bane in Truth was amazing. It made you super fast, but it was so bright that you became a beacon in the map. I wish that it was still in Truth without automatic active camo. And also, the art style and graphics in the Beta fit the marketing campaign. It was dark and gloomy. I know that I’m in the minority of this, but when you got a hitmarker, you got a “ping” sound. Last, but not least, you actually ACHIEVED armors. Even though it was by level, I prefer it better than REQ packs. There are somethings that I miss from the Beta and some things that I’m glad were added.
Other than the forced Spartan chatter, annoying power weapon callouts and the bro-downs at the end, I think the beta was so much better than the final game, both in terms of fun/gameplay and presentation. The game just looked and sounded amazing in the beta, especially on Eden, with the incredible lighting and rain drops on the visor. Plus, the 30m radar was nice to have, because it was actually useful.
But unfortunately, things had to change for the final game, for whatever reason. I’ll keep looking back at the beta with fondness, and remember what Halo 5 could have been.

I think the Beta was more aimed towards casuals, then in the final game, the pros and the HCS took over.

Jesus lol. You need to talk to some of them then and see how wrong you are. For a game catered to them they sure don’t like it.

I know they hate it, which is sad because you know that they tried to shove so much competition into the game. I mean 18m Radar? Even with the ability to move fast it is extremely difficult to have a reaction time to a Spartan Charge that fast.

Well the pros want no radar at all, the beta aim system back cuz the current sucks, less power (range specifically) to automatics and I could go on. It’s just a matter of 343 doing it wrong. The pros only need one playlist to them, they weren’t asking for the whole game to fit their needs. 343 could’ve removed radar in team arena (which is supposedly the HCS playlist) and had the original 25m for everything else to appeal to everyone else. In doing so they then could’ve had seperate playlists like social slayer and team objectives for those who don’t want to play team arena.
Im saying it’s not the pro players fault, it’s 343 just handling it wrong. The pros want completely different stuff than what 343 gave them just as the normal cried feels the same. It’s both sides getting robbed.

Yeah, it would’ve been nice if 343 just made Team Arena similar to Reach’s MLG playlist. For the automatics being overpowered, they could make a different variant of the weapons (similar to the Survivor Shotgun in H2A), and give them less range. Enlarging and getting rid of the radar is a really easy task, hopefully one season 343 makes some changes. I think 343 just tries to compromise between two types of people instead of just doing something for one and something for the other.

I like the final halo 5 much better.
Many just say that because the beta never became boring in the few weeks it was here. The lighting and stuff was good, but the final game has so much better gameplay.

You can still destroy the shield but it feels like it takes a little too much.
I thought the beta UI was better, and the gameplay was slightly better. I also wish that they could’ve found a way to keep the lighting very similar on maps such as Eden and Regret, which looked much better. My only concerns were the 30m arena radar (24-25 is better, 30 is too much for how close arena is.) and the dumb bro celebrations for the victors.
Something I miss is that in the beta, the MK VI Gen 1’s secondary color actually bothered to match the primary color at the same setting, but they then changed it in the final game. I think it was that way for every armor in the beta with the secondary colors. Why they changed it to horrid mismatched secondaries I don’t even know.

Because it is like any other FPS game now. Very similar to CoD and Destiny and that such.
Didn’t the Beta have performance problems? It can be that they had to tone down some features as it affected performance. Just a guess. Although I can’t find any sources that show the graphics taking a hit, the only thing I can find, is that the beta was operating at 720p and the final game at a higher resolution, albeit it being dynamic. Hopefully you guys are also comparing it to The maps that we played in the Beta, as Warzone wasn’t available in the beta, and does look much worse than Arena.
