Halo 5 Beta footage better looking than final game

I just saw a video of early development footage of halo 5 on Extracheat’s channel and I have to say, if they had gone with a slightly brighter version of this then the game would have been so much better looking.

Imagine if they had kept this look and brightened it.It would have really looked worthy of being on Xbox One.And that wasn’t locked at sixty frames so you know, splitscreen. The FOV was better too.Spartans seemed to be actually alive and you could hear them grunting when the meleed and assassinated.

I’m not going to whine about anything or say I miss splitscreen because I rarely ever used it after halo 3.I just want to say that 343i should really go for this look in halo 6, but again, brighter - *slightly.*I want to be able to see but I also want night maps to look like night maps.

Long story short, cut the locked 60 frames for 30 frames so that we can have amazing graphics and splitscreen.Splitscreen will bring quite a few people back and the good graphics will just be a very big plus.

Link?

It won’t let me edit so I’m going to say it here (not trying to bump) the 30 frames would also allow for more customization which is still an issue.

Can’t link on my phone but just go to Extracheats channel and go down a bit and you’ll see the video titled [Halo 5 Early Development Footage]

When you always play on 60 fps, its hard to go back to 30 fps. Now, 60 fps should be a standard for first person shooters.

I think this is it.

That does look a lot more visually pleasing than what we have now, for sure. The lighting is much smoother, and yet more realistic as well. As it stands now, Halo 5 looks almost cartoony compared to this.

  1. Other games have good, solid gameplay running 1080p, 60fps. If 343i didn’t prioritize the graphics and frame rate, and produced yet another a 720p/1080p, 30fps Halo, but with split-screen, well basically every other FPS franchise would laugh their -Yoink- off, because Halo is the godfather of all modern, post-Halo FPSes, excluding the new DOOM, and if 343i can’t produce a solid game with good graphics and framerate, they would be ridiculed, the laughingstock of the gaming industry.

  2. There is a brightness setting in the settings for a reason.

  3. Wait, you want 343i to make the beta, which was at 720p, 30 fps, to be at 1080p, 30 fps, with better textures, overall greater environment detail, and overall lighting and shadows, with split-screen. This is a HORRIBLE idea. Mainly because, if that was the case, your Xbox would literally crash everytime you booted up the game. Ok, maybe not crash, but the frame rate would be absolutely -Yoink-. You can’t have both split-screen, and better graphics, one of them has got to go.

  4. Early H5/H5 Beta didn’t have nearly as much content as it does when it released, and presently has. If the Xbox One could even run the game by your ambitions the game would be ever so -Yoinking!- choppy, making it nearly unplayable. The beta on the other hand had about, 6 maps. The game currently has over a dozen Arena maps, 5 Warzone maps, which are huge, and 4 WZA maps, which do have some varying content, other then the fact that they cut out half the map, they have different lighting, buildings, etc. And thats not even including the Forge textures. So tell me, how can 343i lock the framerate at 30, make the game 1080p, produce better graphics, on many more huge maps. They -Yoinking!- can’t.

  5. They do grunt.

TL;DR Making the game 1080p, 30fps, better graphics, with split-screen, is -Yoinking!- ridiculous. Brightness setting is there for a reason.

You guys also forgot that people kept on complaining that the beta is to dark so they brightened it up the reason the visuals dont look that great because they had to make it bright and colorful.

Unyshek uploaded some of my Halo 5: BETA gameplay, check it out. (Perfection on Eden) I sent it to Jesse Stipek at 343i and he put it on the Halo Channel for me too. I also uploaded some more Beta gameplay on my channel. Truth beta footage. Regret beta footage.

  • Other games had 1080p and 60fps with splitscreen while we were stuck with 720p and 30fps and were they laughing?
  • Halo is not the godfather of modern first person shooters.DOOM and Quake were.Do you have any idea how similar Halo was to those two?Halo even used and still uses a massively modified engine from Quake 3.The same goes for CoD.
  • The highest brightness they had in the beta was the same as halo 5’s current level 2 brightness.
  • The halo 5 Beta eventually went to 810-1080p with 40-50 fps and had far better graphics then halo 5 does now.Was it choppy? No.The textures actually were textures. Not some matte color plastered onto a block.
  • Are you really attributed lack of content to the games ability to run?You are sorely mistaken.Other games like CoD have 1080p and 60fps with splitscreen. It is not choppy and the Xbox has zero problems running it.
  • The only time Spartans grunt is when they charge and even then it doesn’t always happen.
  • The graphics were downgraded for a locked 60fps which was a bad idea.It was even built into the engine. If the framerate drops then even player models start to bug the - Yoink - out.Grass disappears in heated combat and textures look worse then halo CE if half the people on the map fire a projectile weapon.
  • I don’t really care about it, but I’m saying it could have been done easily.

I like the colours/lighting style better. Reminds me of Reach, grittier. Much too saturated in the final game imo, plastic fake look.

A lot of people seemed to complain in the beta it being to dark, so they made it brighter. I liked the look of the beta better as well

It’s no secret that they needed to downgrade the graphics to get 60 fps to work.

Don’t you mean if they left it alone and people just learned to increase the brightness in the options menu instead of being pansies and forcing the art team to change the entire look and feel of the game?

Yeah, that’d been great.

That…is not how customization works.

Like, I’m not a programmer or anything, but I really don’t think that’s how it works.

I’m not a programmer either, but I have dabbled with video game modding on PC, and I really know that’s not how it works.

I agree , the Spartans look like toys

Its not the framerate auto = more customization but its something to do with polygons and rendering each individual piece rather than a set piece linked to one item.So stuff I don’t really understand.

The reason I believe we don’t have the ability to customize other parts of the armor is because there is so many, it would be impossible to make the armours not clip into each other. Not because of FPS or resolution.

Security armor’s arms clip, and its beautiful and bulky.
