Halo 5 Beta Feedback

Positive Feedback:

  • Spartan Call Outs- Location names on the bottom left corner- Zoom-out when hit- No voting system = variety of maps/game types to play (as long as they’re are fun maps/game types for matchmaking)- Thruster Packs to avoid dangerous situations- No Health regen when Sprinting from firefights- Quick Clamber- I like the new sound effect. It’s useful in notifying you of your shield and thruster meter. Might want to tweak or amplify the thruster’s meter sound effect to better notify players. I feel neutral about multiple hit detection sound. Maybe a kill shot should replace the hit detection sound for those who dislike it?Negative Feedback:

  • L Trigger needs to be more sensitive when squeezing the trigger. Smart-Link only responds only when you pull it all the way down. Too much of a delay and feels unresponsive when playing, sometime kicking players out of zoom when not held “all” the way down.- Switching weapons takes too long when using Clamber (found this annoying when trying to switch to my secondary to switch out with the Sword on top of Truth)- Sniper look movement feels too sluggish when zoomed in. Needs to feel snappy like all the Halos before Halo 5 to keep fast pace gameplay.- The ADS is not usable when switching to the next weapon, but I noticed it’s faster to ADS and fire right away if it’s the Magnum. I kinda like the delay, but maybe Halo 5 can do without it. I definitely do not like the way the delay responds with the Sniper though. It’s too long of a delay for the Sniper to quickly snipe your target.- Sniper needs to kill when enemies shields are down or recharging from empty. Frustrating when you see enemies with their shield glowing near you and you snipe them, but they still live.- Matchmaking takes a little too long sometimes to start or match up with other players.- Matchmaking lobby kicks you out at times.- Can’t back out sometimes from lobby, and forced to sit in lobby without lobby searching for other players.- Feels pointless to Boost Dodge when you have no shield. It feels like an auto-kill for the opposing player. When it shows their kill cam, it looks like I didn’t even boost dodge at all. Maybe the hit-box is off or netcode isn’t matching up on-screen?Neutral Feedback:

  • Frag Grenade blast radius is pretty large, but I don’t know if it’s overpowered or just right.- Display Connection bar near players name for in-game scoreboards. Red, Yellow, Green.- Maybe highlight or show transparent name of unpicked-up Map Weapons? Sometimes weapons blend in the dark on making it hard to find.- When enemies run away it becomes annoying sometimes, but no health regen counters it for you to chase them.Majority of Halo 5’s Beta Control schemes feels confusing. I think these two following control schemes will help and be more comfortable for Halo 1-4 players.
