Halo 5 Beta before launch?

I know were getting a beta later this year but I also want a beta before launch to see the changes 343 made. What do you think

No. If you want to see the changes 343 made after the beta, you can buy the whole game, or download a demo.

I’m sure they’ll express the changes they made post beta to us through updates and videos. I don’t want to water down the experience.

Also having a beta before launch wouldn’t really make it a beta… Devs need ample amount of time to fix issues found within a beta, it’s not like they wave a magic wand and the problem is fixed. Programing/Coding is a long and tedious process.

The thing you’re looking for would be a demo then, not a beta. Whether or not they’ll be one is anyones guess. I wouldn’t mind if there is one or not, though I’d definitely want to see decent gameplay before its release.

No. A beta should be used to test the game, not to market it.

The purpose of the early Beta is to get feedback of all kinds from players so that 343 Industries can create that ideal Halo multiplayer that they feel the fans deserve.

What the OP is suggesting is that after the changes have been made, 343 Industries open up the Beta again through the MCC and let fans test the new version of Halo 5’s multiplayer. That way they get more feedback and can make the necessary tweak before launch. Essentially, the initial Beta is in December, so the 2nd Beta would be in May or June. Having two beta tests would not only allow them to make that great multiplayer, but also tweak and refine it for launch so that it has as few issues as possible. Up until now, Beta’s have been used solely for marketing, stress testing, and minor tweaks. Nothing major, and again, mostly as a marketing tool. It’s like a limited time demo, kind of like demo’s on the 3DS. You download the demo, but so you don’t abuse it, you can only play it 30 times.

So personally, I’m in favor of a 2nd round of Beta testing in the middle of the year so that we can try the multiplayer our feedback helped create, and then let know them what could use refining and tweaking to make it perfect.

I guess it would depend on how much they’ve actually had to change as a result of the beta. If they’ve only needed to make small tweaks, then there’s really no point having a second beta. If on the other hand they’ve had to make massive changes then I can see the benefit of having a second beta.

If that’s what the OP is suggesting then I don’t have a problem with the idea. To me it read more as right before the launch.

I’m with you on this. As someone on the fence about buying an XB1, I’ll be paying very close attention to the Beta. MCC is nice and all but is it really worth the $400+ outlay to play it? So, Guardians is the gateway for me… if the Beta doesn’t look promising, then I’ll probably wait till next holiday season for a price drop before considering to purchase an XB1.

Anyone know based on prior Halo betas if we are likely to see video or gameplay descriptions prior to December 29?

Back in the day (if you can use that term about gaming) beta’s were rarely used for marketing. Demo’s were used for sure, but they’ve essentially been replaced with beta’s by this point. The reason the H5 beta is important is because we are likely to actually see a change in the game by release - which means it is more of a beta and less of a demo.

If you were to have another beta in may it would be too late for the changes to be made before the game was released - at the very least no big changes could be made. Also bare in mind that MS will want Halo 5 to be coming out next year 100% so they won’t want another delay if this second beta is met with complaints. I think one beta should be enough to cover any major problems which come up - if it isn’t then there are problems which should have been fixed in the alpha which we could never affect.

Also bare in mind that people will always complain. Especially when some people enjoyed Halo 4’s way of doing things, what 343i has to do in the upcoming beta is sift the relevant complaints out from the irreverent ones. If they have a second beta then more complaints will show up regardless of if the game has moved in a good direction.

So a demo for H5? sure. Another beta? I don’t think that’s feasible for Halo 5.

Definitely. Reach and Halo 3 both showed off quite a bit before their beta. If I recall they released a multiplayer trailer to promote/announce Reach’s beta two months before it launched. My guess is we’ll get some similar stuff at the end of November/start of December.

but the beta is already before launch. I am so confused right now.

Having a second beta about 3-4 months until launch would be amazing and would help Halo 5 out so much. It means 343 could make the game the best Halo game to date since the community and players would be able to test the game out in 2 betas so everything would be balanced and smooth.

They should have a 2nd beta and this is what it should be like.

Beta 1: December-January (The one we are getting with the Halo: MCC)
Beta 2: July-August

As others have said, we don’t need a other beta, we need a demo day 1, but i doubt they will do that…

I have a felling that we will get something, but not a full beta/demo per-se. Perhaps similar to what was done with MCC at the last few events, have small parts of the game playable on the arena floors a month or or before launch, maybe even some competitive tournaments to kick start the hype?
