Halo 5 being competitive

Look I know this has been said to death, but Halo 5 is way too competitive. It’s movement system introduced a far too competitive playstyle. Armor abilities being replaced was dumb. This game has become a twitch shooter and was basically made for eSports. I don’t care if it doesn’t matter, but if Halo 6 is anything like Halo 5 I’m not buying it or anything from Microsoft again.

Turn off abilities and play customs. Or play MCC. That is what I have been playing lately.

Have you played the h3 throwback playlist or quick play? Those are usually more relaxed. I personally love the new playstyle. If I feel it’s too much though I got friends I can hop on MCC or reach with. I hope halo 6 is a refined, complete with some added goodies of halo 5. I’d say leave what works and throw out what doesn’t but that’s too subjective of a statement to make no matter if there actually is objective data brought into a conversation. A touchy subject indeed.

Do you play alone or with friends? I’ve found the game’s really difficult/frustrating when you solo queue.

Except you can’t turn off enemy player abilities on Halo 4 or 5…not sure why anyone would ever suggest this since it gives the player an unfair advantage plus you can’t remove flinch either since it’s built into the game.

I have, it’s not relaxing. It’s actually pretty stressful playlist but sure it seems like MCC is better for playing classic Halo.

What are you talking about. In H5 customs yes you can turn off abilities for every player if you want to. And in MCC if you play any of the classic Halo playlist no players have abilities.

You can do it in Customs, sure. But matchmaking? No. The only ability-free playlist available is the Halo 3 Throwback. So it seems silly to tell someone to “turn off abilities”.

I said nothing about customs, most of the time I play in matchmaking is to rank up and was meaning generally it would make zero sense to only play customs to avoid problems that plague both custom, matchmaking…like I said Flinch is built in no matter what mode you’re on and the problems that occur are unavoidable in matchmaking.
Also what you said about MCC isn’t completely true because 343i added Halo 4…which can’t be avoided in BTB or at least until they add the beta updates later through the year.

Well I figured most would understand that when you turn off abilities and play customs that means host games with abilities turned off. So no it’s not silly at all. I will try to be more specific next time.

H4 in MCC very very rarely wins. It’s so rare to win you can dashbaord out and restart a search and you shouldn’t receive a ban as little as you would dashboard.

Sure it rarely does…we all know Halo 3 keeps winning usually. I’m actually not a fan of quitting. I’ve been in matches, ranted the entire time while being asked why the best player aka me was ranting when we was winning. Just not a fan of the direction of 4,5 took and well it’s stressful.

Actually to be fair, I feel like this situation is flipped over. With Bungie’s Halos being more competitive and 343i being less

halo 5 isn’t that competitive, it’s just way more complicated and mechanically more difficult, and it’s because of the over the top movement options. The halo competitive scene has a number of gripes with 5.

343 wanted a competitive slant…without appeasing the competitive players, a bold strategy where they don’t really market to anyone.

I hope you don’t mean they should have kept armor abilities. Those were awful. They just need to get rid of sprint and spartan charge. Also just because the TTK is lower than Reach or H4 does not make H5 a twitch shooter. You can’t kill someone with 2 bullets from all the guns like in CoD. You can still beat someone in a fight if you’re better, not just because they saw you first.

This post is spot on

The next halo game needs to be balanced like the pervious halo games as in to too causal but not exactly too competitive but a game that can be enjoyed by both like halo 1,2,3 and reach to an extent

Well of course it’s better for playing a classic halo game. That’s exactly what’s in the collection, 3 classic games. No one should play halo 5 thinking it’s going to offer a classic feel. A new game isn’t made to feel like an old game.

Twitch shooter? lol no.

I like H5s movement system and sprint and ADS, could live without charge and GP though, i’d also suggest it’s more or less guaranteed that 6 will have Sprint + ADS

Armor abilities being replaced was the best thing Halo 5 did. Equal starts for all is a key concept of Halo gameplay

If that’s true then Halo 6 will be awful. There’s zero gd reasons why we need sprint instead of increased speed. As for ADS…it makes Halo feel like CoD, that really worries me.
Plus sprint in it’s current state makes Halo 5 an unbalanced mess where things like radar can’t cope with the changes, etc…

Then don’t get it the rest of us will be enjoying halo 6
