Halo 5 "beast mode"

So I ive been reading playable species threads and It gave me an idea. In the “Gears of War” series they have whats called “beast mode” which is essentially a reverse firefight. You must play with varying species to overrun and kill the human A.I defense. You have a limited amount of money to start off with. You must purchase each specie and have one life. As you rack up kills you earn more money. Their are several tiers of species to choose from in which you have to rack up kills to unlock and buy the higher tier species. Higher tiers consist of more deadly and durable species but cost much more money.

So I was thinking halo could have a game mode like that for example: You play as the storm covenant and prometheans to kill the unsc base which is fortified. There are 10 waves of enemy A.I, each wave consisting of more and difficult UNSC A.I.You must beat each wave under a time limit(killing enemies results in time bonuses) or its game over as well if your entire team has insufficient funds.
You start the game with say $250
TIER ONE TROOPS:

(Suicide grunt($25))equipped with plasma pistol and the ability to suicide in which the grunt has 200% movement speed, 110% health and activates 2plasma grenades that will detonate within 6 sec or win in close proximity to an enemy.

(Spec ops grunt($50)) equipped with a needler and 1 plasma nade to throw

(Prome crawler($50))equipped with boltshot(can’t overcharge) and the ability to adhere to surfaces for a limited time.

(Jackal($75)) equipped with weakest defense gauntlet(blue), plasma pistol,and limited Sprint

(Jackal major($100)) equipped with strong defense gauntlet(yellow), plasma rifle and limited sprint.

(Prome Watcher($115)) equipped with boltshot(can’t overcharge), unlimited flight, limited hardlight shielding of allies,

TIER TWO TROOPS:

(Skirmisher light($150)) equipped with needler, can jump extremely high, sprint and evade

(Elite minor($200)) equipped with strom rifle,2 plasma nades,minor shielding,can sprint and evade

(Engineer($250)) can give energy shielding to itself and allies, unlimited flight.
I got tired of thinking of the currency.:slight_smile:

(Brute minor)) spiker, 3 spike grenades, sprint, evade, alot of health

(Skirmisher major) needle rifle, extreme jump height,sprint,evade, wrist gauntlets, hologram

TIER THREE TROOPS:

(Spec ops elite) 2 plasma nades, active camouflage, energy sword, plasma pistol as sidearm,sprint,evade,medium shielding

(Brute captain) 3 spike nades, gravity hammer, extra health,sprint,evade

(Drone leader) unlimited flight,brute plama rifle,minor shielding

(Promethean)minor shielding, suppressor, prom vision,2pulse nades personal hardlight sword,sprint

BOSS TIER:

(Elite Councilor) heavy shielding, 4 plamsma nades,sprint,evade, minor active camouflage,energy sword, dual plasma rifles

(Brute Chieftain) heavy health,minor energy shielding,3 spike nades,sprint,evade,gravity hammer, spiker,

Brute war chieftaun) heavy health, minor energy shielding, 3 spike nades,sprint,evade,plasma canon(or fuel rod gun),

(Hunter pair) standard weapons and abiliteies, the player can command the second hunter A.I

(Promethean battlewagon)medium shielding, limited teleportation,prom vision, hardlight shield,sprint,3 pulse grenades, incinerator canon

Side notes:the abilities I mentioned, some are base abilities such as (sprint ,evade) others are limited and recharge over time. Players can decide to switch from third person or first person.The enemies could consist of civilians with guns,police, marines,odsts,spartan IVs,Spartan IIs, etc. This game mode would allow four players to take on the enemy A.I only.

This is my take on playable species. Let me know if you like the idea,have any improvements, additions, or would like to remove something. Lastly thanks for reading this took a while to post.

Seems like a good idea to me.

I hope you don’t mind if I make my own addition, since now you have me envisioning this idea:
UNSC enemies could start with something easy, like a couple marines with magnums, then escalate to marines with assault rifles. After a few waves, ODSTs could replace marines and be armed with heavier stuff like BRs and shotguns.

UNSC forces will also have turrets and other defenses spawned around there base as the waves progress, and the last few waves will feature Spartans for the last enemy, armed with the big guns; rockets, splasers, maybe snipers as well.

I think you have yourself a pretty good idea. :slight_smile: I would be pleasantly surprised if 343 actually implemented a mode like this.

This has always been a pipe dream of mine since Halo 2. I’d love to see this. I think that if 343i wanted to work on balancing, they could have actual human players controlling the marines,spartans, etc. So we could actually have PvP. But like I said, 343i would have to balance the humans vs covenant.

i feel like having this many choices is a little too redundant for a game in Halo, but i like the system you have going, where getting kills earns you some kind of currency, which you can use to “purchase” more powerful species per spawn.

The list, should be simplified down to the following:
-Grunt
-Jackal
-Skirmisher
-Brute (eh)
-Elite
-Hunter
-Drone

Having to choose ranks, IMO, would slow the game down a bit, and overcomplicate spawning.
Also, being able to spawn as Prometheans is a bit redundant when allowed access to every other Covenant species with essentially the same core functions. Would be cool though.

And it sees a bit odd to be using money to “buy” covenant, i would rather use a simple points system.

i think i wouldn’t like some thing like that in a major halo-game.
IMO, it would fit better in a spin-off game, which could completely focus on stuff like that.
