Halo 5 Ban Problems

Been playing Guardians since release now and I have to admit, I love the game. Even with the dumb A.I. and poorly distributed dedicated servers.
Everything else seems smooth and consistent.

Trouble is I have been banned for no reason.
I was kicked from a game for committing suicide when the map has tons of ledges and the gravity lift doesn’t carry me far enough and kills me.
Is this a bug or genuine policy? I’m wondering if anyone else finds these bans stupid and may deter newer players from the game or whether you like the ban policy and think it should stay?
I understand bans for quitting, inactivity and betrayals but the rest seem out of order to me and should be removed.

Loving the game 343. Can’t wait for forge.
brings us grifball and shiny grav hammers.

Did you get DC’d from a game then receive the ban, find the ban after finishing a game, or find the ban upon going to enter your first match? Mine said console DC"d then put me in a lobby and handed me the ban.

Last night I got kicked for inactivity a few times (Shoulda been twice) due to feeding ill guinea pigs. (Shouldn’t have started games in first place, I realize I was being optimistic). Today got into a fight with a teammate in Breakout and killed him twice, which got me kicked. Last game just said console DC’d, then it exited to lobby and gave me the ban for quitting. I realize I put myself on thin ice, but the last time I never even DC’d according to my internet and console. So i’m not sure if it was the ban striking me mid game or the game thinking I DC’d and giving it to me as a result of thinking I quit. I hit the xbox record and I’ll see if it caught the DC and Ban.

Update as typing: Seems like it was only 5-10 minute ban, I’m good again but it was still annoying and still don’t know whether it was mid game or as a result of DC.

yeah i got the ban several games later when i hadn’t done anything wrong.
It’s kind of stupid when you think about it. halo has always been strict on TK’s and Quitters but this is going to far.
Everybody plays their own way and its not like people go into games and deliberately betray for no reason. its usually because they’re bored from being put into games with morons or higher skilled players.
it used to be that the team mate decided to boot the Betrayer but now it seems they have robbed the community of choice.

it also seems the ranking system means nothing and they are placing bad players in with godly players in high ranks.

I am gold 2 with 4.0 K/D in CTF and almost 2.0 in slayer(pretty decent , but i haven’t even gone sweaty try hard in 5 yet), i’m being matched with people who have never played a FPS and can’t use the control sticks simultaneously. they quit, they get banned (is this fair?) to me it just helps speed the game up when everybody quits.
we had the perfect ranking system in halo 3, why can’t we have that back, why are the games not balanced by skill level?

I’m there with you. Sadly i know why I was banned. A few afk drops, couple tks and just recently the last one to party up with a friend. :[ honestly would like to see a casual playlist to accomedate the strict rules. If anything I just want some type of ban countdown. If I knew it was this strict I would have been way WAY more careful.

My friend has cerebral palsy and so he accidentally threw a grenade at the start of a match, and of course it was spawn so it killed the whole team, got booted then bam, handed a nice 4 hour ban. I’m all for being strict on the quitters, but they are not doing a good job distinguishing between quitting, and getting dced or booted.

I left three matches this week and got banned?! I literally just got banned for leaving my halo match to put out a -Yoinking!- structure fire. I’m a volunteer fireman. I got home, picked the pieces of debris out of my -Yoinking!- hair and turned on my xbox to relax before realizing I couldn’t play. -Yoink- you 343. A ceiling almost fell on my -Yoinking!- head. I just want to play some halo -Yoink- holes.

Actually people do betray for no reason and I’m glad 343 is strict with it, teamkilling is annoying as hell

Just got banned after being booted for 2 accidental betrails in SWAT. So stupid.

I just got banned while playing swat. I don’t have the greatest internet connection in the world but it’s good enough to play. I don’t know why I randomly got banned and if it’s permanent. I’m taking and trading it back in.

You get banned 45 seconds for leaving a match… unless you have a large history of betrayls, suicides, and idle-ing

hell i got blow up by an allies grenade and just got banned…I think the -Yoinking!- system is bugged when if you get betrayed you get banned…

This as well

2 people in our party of 4 were booted from the game at start, so me and the other guy backed out to group back up only to see we’ve been banned. This banning thing is good if its excessive, but 1 time out of like 100 games already is ridiculous. It was only a 2 minute or so ban though, but still.

How long is the ban time? I just quit for the second time because of a 2 v 4 match start. I see a message saying ban rules in effect but I have literally been waiting 30 min. Maybe server issue?

I believe people do things for a reason. It may not be a good reason compared to your standards but it IS for a reason.

Since there are so many people doing this type of thing then I believe it is up to the developer to find the reasoning behind it and make the necessary changes.
Whilst bans are a quick slap on the wrist, in the long run this will just frustrate players more.

I’m sure one of the reasons for the new REQ system is to prevent betrayals over power weapons and vehicles. It wouldn’t be difficult to have 1 or 2 hardcore playlists with friendly fire. The other playlists be immune and have maps you can’t fall off due to map fails.

If your argument is that halo is meant to be ranked “competitive” and casual has no place for arena well; halo is no longer competitive since they added ground pound, shoulder charge and sprint, fast pace and small maps make it all a mess. Halo was all about strategy, now it’s run and gun. No competition when a game is determined by connection to US servers and bad RNG re-spawning.

To put it into fewer words, the arena needs a lot of work and less bans should be a priority since they are an easier fix.

any one know how long these last i finished a game got credit for it and even ranked up but it said i lost connection and when i went to join another game says im banned ive left a few games over the past few hours of play but when you are in a 2v5 in breakout down 4 rounds it doesnt make sense to stay

from what i understand ban times all depend on how many sanctions are in place. Most people will only be banned for a few minutes at the most first time around.

I understand your pain, I have been in that situation a few times but I always stay cause I usually have fun with a little guerrilla warfare. you can usually exploit a team’s confidence to point where it’s just embarrassing. I’ll still loose but show i’m not to be trifled.
This one time on halo reach I managed to win a game of assault on breakneck after my entire team quit and the other team were just running around thinking hey had me at disadvantage.

My problem is that sometimes hours at a time, every game I join I’ll disconnect from server and get a ban, now let me point out that most of the day and night I can play with no problems, my internet is consistent 24/7 with no drastically fluctuating latency or connection drops, this is purely halo/microsoft server faults.

so if I ever lag out of your game I apologize, im sure 343 are trying to sort it out ASAP.

Sorry to hear, I only hope for the best in future halo games.
don’t let a silly ban get you all down.

I would like to see how these rules will affect gametypes like grifball, or will they lift them like they rightly should?
