Halo 5 Guardian no longer starts as of today 11-19-2017. The initial screen displays for 2 seconds, then kicks out to a menu asking to load the disk (but it is already in). Restarting the game several times did not work. Nor did reinserting the disk several times, even after restarting the XBox One Console.
It’s just a glitch. It does it to me for YouTube sometimes and I have it digitally installed. If it isn’t working in at least thirty minutes you’ll either need to hard restart your xbox or clean your disc.
In my experience, this is typically caused by a dirty disc. Clean it carefully and try again.
Yeah I would check the disc to make sure it’s clean, the slightest scratch or even a finger print can mess with them. Also try a hard reset of the console. That usually clears any glitch I have.
Full restart worked. I’m not sure why restart resets the console software more thoroughly than a shutdown, but it worked. After the restart, I put in the Halo 5 Guardians disk and it loaded normally. Thanks also for the suggestions of cleaning the disk. My disk appeared completely clean, but that could have been the problem. When in doubt, do a restart and clean the disk.
