Well I want to look like a augmented super soldier with high-tech equipment.
Not Halo 4’s power ranger style with bright colors.
I like the armory to be similar to these concept arts.

Yes I love the halo reach concept arts we need awesome looking armour like these, they just look really tactical also bring back armour attachments for helmets arms legs ect…
The armour in Halo Reach was 100 times better than anything we see in Halo 4. It all looked functional and very aesthetically pleasing. Every piece of armour could easily be mixed and matched with each other, and you would have a Spartan that just looks right, like a suit of power armour that’s meant to be that way.
In Halo 4, however, nothing looks like it’s meant to be mixed and matched. If I use the Mark VI legs, the Recruit arms, two different shoudlers, the Rogue chest plate and the Protector helmet, for example, you’ve got yourself a suit of armour that just looks like a bunch of scrap stuck together. From a visual perspective, it doesn’t work, it doesn’t flow, unlike what we had in Reach. It’s very difficult to be able to create an appearance for your Spartan that looks nice and natural.
Not to mention that the armour pieces in Halo 4 are kind of…odd. While Reach’s selection looked functional, what we have in Halo 4 are silly designed bits of plastic-looking power ranges, as many people put it. I mean, just look at the Wetwork, Pioneer and Venator sets… Seriously?
In addition, the Halo 4 armour itself is rather disappointing. Instead of being a big hulk of metal like in every other Halo game, we have a thin black undersuit with a bit clip-on bits here and there. How on Earth is that supposed to be believable? How can clipping a backpack on a black undersuit suddenly make a Spartan be able to run super fast and become very strong? It doesn’t make sense, it can’t work.
The design philosophy behind every aspect the MJOLNIR armour in Halo 4 should be dropped for every future Halo game, and they should focus on going back to how Bungie handled the armour : give us something simple, aesthetically pleasing, functional and believable.
They look like they are carrying around way to much

You are a beautiful person :’)
Not really
Halo 4 had great armor but the only real problem was most of it was to weird and did not match well.
Still better than Reach’s though because reach had like 4 acceptable pieces of armor.
What they need in halo 5 is more normal looking armor. maybe something like this but with a more halo look/visor.
OP, that big black undersuit is titanium mesh. Much more effective than previous Spartan project undersuits.
Read lower paragraphs for information entitling the undersuit.
Basically GEN2 is supposed to be cheaper so more spartans could be made.

Then why does John’s armour built the same way? And the Mark IV armour shown in the “Scanned” trailer?
343i changed the armour’s design completely in Halo 4, for the worse.

Mind my non-constructiveness, but do you honestly expect me to know something that has been classified as poorly explained in multiple threads in these forums due to a lacking description by 343i?
As for your opinion on Halo 4’s armor, good for you for thinking it’s not that great. Although I disagree, that’s obviously where our opinions differentiate.

It was a rhetorical question, just to prove a point that the explanation in the link that you showed us is total BS. Not only does the whole explanation lack any sources, thus cannot be taken as being true, there’s still the aspect of said visual changes being applied to older armour that were designed in a totally different way.
If the changes were truly new to the GEN2 system, then 343i wouldn’t have kept Master Chief’s armour as being complex and bulky without the super thin undersuit. But no, they changed that as well. I’m all for new and fresh visual changes, but they brought it to to the point where it can’t physically work, where it doesn’t make sense. I don’t know if they expect us to believe that MJOLNIR armour now runs off of Space Magic, but it seems like they went for “ermagerd let’s make this look cool just for the sake of coolness” rather than Bungie’s “let’s make it look functional and good at the same time.”
But I’m glad you like the new armour, and I wish I could say the same. I do love Master Chief’s new look, perhaps even more than some of his older designs, but I still can’t get used to the drastic change in the way the armour (or, skin suit + a few plates here and there, whatever it is now) is put together. I know, it’s kind of silly to care so much about these little details, but I just can’t help myself.
TBH, i like both Halo 4 and Halo Reach’s armor, but i’m more into the “Sleeky” type of armors, like the Halo 4 Recon. Not too bulky, however, I would like to see, sleek and compact armor in the Halo 5 Armory.

Loved the armors in Total Recall…especially the black synthetic.
The armor looks cool, But I like halo reach and halo 4 armor. Maybe a mixture of the two but make the armor more futuristic. I don’t like bulky armor I like slim and small armor.

I agree with everything above.
Since multiplayer is now considered “canon” and armor pieces don’t match very well, I would have liked to see the game force players into wearing one full armor set.
For example, you’re not allowed to wear Warrior helmet, Venator shoulders, and Recon body. You would wear all pieces belonging to its own armor set.
I actually mean’t that the armor must look similar to the concept arts.
Color, look of the armor, equipment like poaches and sensors.
These look bulky but that is because of the extra equipment.
But after that its still better than halo 4’s armor.

YES. I loved Reach’s armor! Even though I hardly changed my own armor, I enjoyed seeing the different permutations of armor sets - and they all flowed well together! Halo 4 brought something interesting to the table with the introduction of armor skins and visor colors, but I found most of the armor itself to be too angular for my taste. The details of Halo 4’s armor weren’t that interesting, also; completely missing, in some cases. This made the armor look too plastic-like and almost like your Spartan was a toy, opposed to a superhuman wearing near-indestructible armor.
i would like to see halo 4 armor(sans venator, wetwork, & avaitor) with lots and lots of attachments.
also like to see CQB return.
I hate the first pic with a passion but think the second is okay. I think the problem with Halo 4’s armors was that there were too many weird ones and too little normal ones. Also, important classics didn’t return (Mark V, ODST…) which is also a shame. Other than that the armor colors are a bit bright and awkward but the rest is actually great. I love that leg armors actually look different from one another and I’d take Halo 4’s chest pieces over Reach’s any day (they were too bulky and ridiculous).

Mark V and ODST will be returning to Halo 4 along with a new Forerunner set called “Prefect” with the Champions Bundle DLC.

What got me were all the things that just out of the armor.
For instance, some of the designs (not sure which ones because I honestly find it hard to differentiate between most of them they’re just that forgettable) have these big, thin discs sticking out on the back/shoulder blade area. I’ve got no idea what the point of them is. It’s a big, flimsy piece of metal that an elite could probably snap in half with very little effort, and from a structural standpoint makes no sense.
I find that’s the case with a lot of Halo 4’s armor. Where Reach’s and Halo 3’s armor had purpose (okay, some of Halo 3’s), it seems that Halo 4’s armor is just a bunch of mixed/matched angles and lines where-ever the design team saw fit to put them. There isn’t any real purpose or idea behind the design.
I also tend not to find them aesthetically pleasing by any stretch of the imagination, but that could just be me.
Personally, I’ve always wanted the armor of that Sniper on the right. It seems more “Halo” to me. But that aside, a lot of Halo Reach’s armor simply looked more functional in design.
Also, I really enjoyed some of the ODST concept art. Particarly that handsome sniper there.
To me, that’s what the Armor should look like. I appreciate the sleek designs as well, and would opt for something sleek given the opportunity, but I enjoy the functional, mildly realist feel to the armours in the concept art. It looks like something I’d bring into the battlefield with the intent of surviving. Extra grenades, ammo and in the snipers case, large pauldrons.
The Halo 4 stuff just looks like it was slapped on with the intent of a “cool” design with no real flow or purpose.
In my opinion, of course.
