Halo 5 Arena Banhammer Needs Changes Drastically

So I haven’t played Arena in weeks, and just a few minutes ago I was in a Grifball match on BloodSport (I think that’s the map name) and I got booted after one betrayal, by complete accident because the player jumped in front of me as I was killing the bomb carrier. This made the bomb carrier score last second when he could’ve died. As a result of my one accidental betrayal I got placed in a long ban. What the ever loving -Yoink- is this?

I know players grief a lot in Arena, especially Grifball, but I’m by no means a griefer, I play to win and enjoy my gameplay. I play fair. Why is there a ban hammer for accidents? I could understand if I was killing a teammate 10 or 15 times, but one? Really? Since when was it Halo 5: Banhammer edition?

Really, the betrayal boot system should be set to a higher number like ten or fifteen.
There’s too many trigger happy trolls in the gametype and it really ruins it for people. I rather have had Grifball back in Reach where you at least didn’t get booted for trying to have fun. I’m not saying to remove the boot system, which I think would be better than keeping it, but they could at least up the betrayal count if anything.

I think it’s ridiculous people avoid being banned for quitting by going to the dashboard, quit and restart the game entirely.

For whatever reason the game doesn’t recognize this as a DNF.

I completely agree, I just came on the forums to discuss the same exact problem, I think for Grifball, they should either remove friendly fire from that game mode or remove the banning effects from playing Grifball. Not saying that you can’t get kicked out of the match but remove the banning aspect from Grifball. I just got a 5 hour ban, for complete crap!

Op are you sure you betrayed only once? Because i had many games already where i killed 7 to 8 friends who got between me and my enemy…

I only killed the player once, I was betrayed like five times by others and never even had an option come up to boot, not that I would anyways though because I don’t think it’s necessary to.

It’s happened to me, I just think “Well it’s your loss, good luck being down a player.”

It’s the fact that I got put on a long ban for it, when I haven’t even been playing Arena in weeks, especially Grifball, and haven’t been booted in far too long. It’s not even fair in any way. I get banned for one accidental kill because my teammate was too trigger happy and decided to jump in front of me as I was sword lunging, then proceeding to boot me… It’s sad knowing others have done major griefing frequently and only get 10 minute bans for it or less. I see it happen quite often.

I just got banned because of grifball betrayals. this is absolutely stupid. Bungie didn’t do this crap, neither should 343i. Halo has increasingly become a joke, from this crappy automated ban bullcrap, to microtransactions.

Personally I rather have had Halo: Reach and Halo 4’s Grifball system. I rather deal with constant betrayals instead of my Matchmaking reputation going down the drain because I didn’t do anything wrong.

Okay, this is the second day in a row the banhammer struck on me, for no reason other than losing a connection. Both times, I finished the match, and in the middle of the ending animation, it cut out to tell me I’d been banned for whatever amount of time.

343i, I have defended every single thing you’ve done. I defended the microtransactions so many hate, I defended and enjoyed the campaign unlike people who complain about it. Every single controversial decision you’ve made, I supported. But this is enough. If there is a problem on YOUR end, I should not be banned for it. I and others who suffer from this nonsense shouldn’t suffer because of technical difficulties over a thousand miles away. My wifi is good, and I rarely quit matches. Most of the time, if I quit, its because something important required my attention.

That I’m being banned after doing NOTHING wrong is absurd, unjust, and downright unprofessional. How about, instead of updates with cloned content given a new makeup job to pretend it’s something all-new and different, give us patches that will ensure we don’t get banned for doing absolutely nothing wrong. What saddens, and in fact angers me, is that no matter what you’ve done, I’ve supported it, and what’s the thanks I get? Being banned twice in two days when I did absolutely nothing punishable. And why is it that this has only started recently? I’ve been playing since release, got booted in grifball a few times, but then, who doesn’t once or twice? It’s only suddenly, I’m banned from Arena. I love Warzone, but sometimes I want to play something more competitive and/or save REQ cards.

Please fix this, 343i. I love the game, I love the direction you’re taking the series. I do not deserve to be banned from playing, and this is something you need to resolve. If it means making the rules for everyone less strict, so be it.
