In the trailer the Master Chief is walking through a desert environment. My question is: do you think we are returning to the ark? the area most definitely resembles it. That, added with the facts that a forerunner device rose out of the ground and that the Isodidact survived halo’s activation on the ark and is most likely stationed there makes me believe we will be returning to that location in Halo 5.
The red planet in the background seems to suggest otherwise, but it could be the ‘core’ thing that they use to build halos.
Shouldn’t the ark look more damaged though? Both cortana and the stuff about the ship that spark stole seem to suggest it was heavily damaged.
I don’t think it’s the Ark, it’ll be interesting where he is. It’s interesting that he’s wearing the Mark VI armor even though he took it off at the end of Halo 4 (maybe it’s a placeholder). Pumped either way, if it’s Halo 5 or a bridge between Halo 4 and Halo 5.
It looks like the ark due to the iconic mountains and the core.
The Forerunners had a lot of installations and places of interest. It could be the Ark, but I think it’s somewhere else.

Hopefully, it’s a Halo. Seriously, we haven’t stepped on one in the campaign for six years now.

But you gotta admit, the imagery is very reminiscent of The Ark. The planetoid in the sky looks very similar to the one seen at the Ark in Halo 3.

HOLD UP EVERYONE!
Wasn’t there TWO (2) ARKS?
The one we destroyed and the “Greater Ark?”

If I remember correctly, Silentium said that the Greater Ark was also destroyed.

The greater Ark gets destroyed in Halo Silentium
Just because Chief is walking through a desert, why does that immediately make it the Ark? By my recollection, the mission The Covenant in Halo 3’s campaign (the one where the Prophet of Truth is killed) was based on the Ark also, and that had both grassy forest and icy mountains in the same mission. The Ark is a vast structure with all kinds of ecosystems to support various forms of life. The desert in the reveal trailer could simply be a more visual way to emphasize how alone Chief is feeling without Cortana.
I’m willing to bet it’s the Ark from 3. I doubt it was 100% destroyed.

If there is a Halo heavily involved, it is most likely going to be Installation 03, for a start, 03 is actually a Desert Halo in its own right. In H4, the ring is seen clearly orbiting a rocky planet similar to the one shown in the trailer, and strange things have occasionally happened on the ring like missing scientists according to Del Rio. AND it was the location of the Composer.

Other likely candidates are Installation 01 which was also desert like, to a lesser extent Installation 06, thought it looks like the moon due to its surface. Finally it could be Installation 05, which could be shown in the aftermath of its likely glassing by the Elites.
02 ain’t an opition because its frozen and 04 ain’t an opition because it has been blown up, twice. There’s a slim possibility of it being 07, but I haven’t seen a lot of evidence about that.
Then of course, it’s possible it’s the Ark or just something symbolic to show about the Chiefs state of mind.
That’s what I think anyway.
Maybe Johnson is still alive and we will meet up with him on The Ark.
He survived a Halo destruction, why not an Ark destruction lol?

Could potentially be any of the Halo Installations, the remnants of the Ark, or a completely new environment. However, the desert, rock formations, and planetoid in the background are very reminiscent of the Ark.
I posted this elsewhere, but this seems relevant here:
I think it’s the Ark, here’s why:
The desert land scape looks identical to the Ark level from Halo 3. The planet in the background looks just like the foundry in the center of the Ark (same color and with what appears to be removed sections). Also, 343 first released the epilogue of Silentium, then went back and added an addition 5 minutes that dealt with Mendicant Bias’s burial in the sand on Installation 00 (and what do we see in the trailer? A large machine rising out of the sand). The fact that they edited in additional content to the epilogue tells me they were developing the story of Halo 5 around the same time and wanted to set up elements of the plot for Halo 5. I could be wrong, but there are way too many signs that point to the Ark in this trailer.
Given the Star Wars/Jedi imagery, looks like the game could almost be called Star Wars Ops, Episode 5: Raiders of the Lost Ark. I’m sure Lucas would love that.
