Halo 5 announcement-OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I first saw the trailer I had no idea what was coming. But then when the Chief was revealed I was absolutely amazed. I was kind of confused why he was wearing that Yoda robe but it was just the idea of surprising the audience with the unveiling of chief’s face.

I did not like it…
The sand and the robe, where have I seen that before?

He might have been wearing the robe because he’s walking in a desert?

Looks pretty cool though the way he looks at the chip that Cortana used to be in.

Can people not wear a protective type of clothing when their walking through a desert?

I don’t want non of this “but he has armour on” it would probably still affect him in someway such as his vision or heat exhaustion.

I don’t think so. He can survive in outer space for extended periods of time with that armor on. Little bits of sand and high temperature are nothing compared to the extremes of space.

The robe was probably just for dramatic effect. If not…why the hell does he have a helmet on under a hood?

Epic reveal? Yes. Hilarious when rewatched? Yes. Make any sense whatsoever? No.

It was okay, not enough for me to consider an Xbox One knowing that Halo was the only reason I would buy one. The policies microsoft has are just A bit off topic but: not worth the hassle. Id rather stop gaming completely and read about the story.

Im just astounded that they believe their new console will sell, should have just kept it simple in regards to preowned and borrowing.

Frankie said Chief is trying to mask his appearance. We’ll see how a cloak is helping that later, probably.

And his armor is obviously damaged more. His visor is cracked, there are peobably damages elsewhere. Wearing a cloak can keep the sand from directly wearing down his shields and armor even more.

He is wearing extremely advanced armor, i do not see a valid reason as to way a spartan would be wearing a robe. I just thought it was very comical and a bad reveal.

(In my opinion) It looks like 343 is trying to copy the robed silhouette of the characters we’ve seen from Destiny. 343 knows that Destiny is where a lot of current and former Halo fans are running to, so it makes sense that the robed image and sandy deserts were being used to to draw the attention of that crowd rather than lossing their attention with something that would be easily connected with Halo instantly.

In a way, it’s a creative approach to make a comercial. However, the lengths that 343 went through in order to make the images give that drifting warrior/guardian/old-time western sherif that we normally associate with Destiny, in many subtle ways, show how desperate the company has become to try to get back the audience its lost to Destiny.

The way he holds Cortana’s chip/link also shows that familiar theme of “remember what we’ve lost to do what’s right.”

I’m not trying to rage or point fingers. I do think that the tone and images of the trailer were a bit of a cheap move to get the attention of Destiny fans. 343 has the entire Halo universe at their disposal, and I believe they need to expand on this universe to make an image that will make people want to come back rather than trying to piggy-back on the concepts and images of other companies and games, especially when the company they are trying to copy handed 343 the Halo universe in the first place.

To clarify, Frankie confirmed that he’s hiding, so he’s masking his appearance with the cloak.

0 feelings what so ever.Saw the trailer, reaction was like :’‘Another failure of 343i,halo 4 is still bad even with this weapon tuning ,plus i won’t buy the xbox one because it’s terrible.Another MEDIOCRE game’’.Halo used to mean something, whenever i heard somebody say '‘Halo is a terrible series’'i would punch them in the face.Actually no,but i loved it so much that i was capable of it.

I just hope you can play halo 5 on the PS4 hehehe

> I do hope you realize that’s complete bull Yoink! right?

What do you mean? I thought it was effective marketing. A of a low move but effective.

Extremely advanced armor that is damaged. He’s missing his thrusters and shoulder armor judging by the shape of the robe, and his helmet is cracked, its quite possible there’s considerable damage to the suit, and the cloak is trying to protect said extremely advanced armor from having its holes clogged with sand.

Let’s remember that games are meant to entertain, and look cool to the consumer… which leads to money.

You people try to make every Halo game 110% logical until it’s actually real.

yes , I agree , unless I’m missing something if you watch the trailer without sound , for at least the first ½ of it , it looks more like a trailer for Destiny than Halo, that being said, hopefully it will be a finished Great Game that embraces the Halo Universe as it should (not a ½ finished Beta type unnamed Halo), but the Hype and fans are already putting this Game up on a Golden Pedistal (same as 4) and as before (hopefully this time it will exceed expectations) it wont meet all the hyped up expectations and most will be calling it the worst Halo ever on the forums.

I Pre-Ordered into Hype once before, so as I have stated before, never again will that happen, I’ll wait a month or so after it comes out and see how it rates on the forums and such before even thinking of buying it

wow… you think way too much… just a trailer.

Truth.

Maybe the robe is just to not attract attention to yourself.

How else do you hide a huge shiny space-age object in a desert? By making it look like a shepherd or something…

> wow… you think way too much… just a trailer.

Yeah, maybe. Being tired tends to do that to me. I was just a bit surprised when I saw it was Halo after thinking it was a Destiny trailer. Then I started thinking about marketing and the audience 343 might be trying to reach with those images and sounds based of statements from these forums . . .
And then I just started to ramble on the thought of it. Sorry about that.

Moa shepherd?.. haha, I don’t know. It’ll be interesting to see what direction 343 goes in for this story.

How is he going to get heat exhaustion when the gel-layer in his armor regulates his body temperature? And how is the robe gonna help with his vision? Aside from it covering his visor and making him unable to see, I don’t think it will help. You are going to get “but he has armor on” comments if you post a dumb comment like that.

I like that his original Mark VI armor lasted 2 games and all it had was a few dents on the chest, then he gets this new armor and it lasts 1 game.
