Halo 5, an empty & hollow shell of its past glory

I am sure this rant has gone on already, but as a gamer who was able to enjoy countless hours with my son playing Halo games together, they have torn apart the fabric of what made this game great. Removing Split Screen Co-Op, all in the name of graphics and whatever. Not worth it by any stretch. I really have no ambition to play this game. So what it was announced early on. Whoever was responsible for this decision should be fired, and whoever joined in that decision should go down with them. If you wanted to make this game as it is, call it something else, call it Halo:Lone Wolf, anything other than leading people to believe it to be a continuation of the legacy of the Halo franchise. I hope the sales of this game reflect the poor decision making made by the management and development team at 343. Isolation is what this game is about now. Its not about the money or the equipment needed for me. I have 5 TV’s and enough consoles to connect them all together and play this game co-op as it should be, only now its not a social activity. Truly a soul crushing move! Something else will need to fill this void, otherwise i think we need to get the Halo 3 servers active again and stick with what was fun and entertaining.

You didn’t even give any reasons as to why it’s " a empty, hollow shell of its past glory". All you did was just say that it focused on graphics and then put all this unrelated stuff.
It’s a continuation of the Halo series, whether you like it or not- so you better buck up and deal with it, son.

(Also, sales? Uhh…the game actually seems to be doing extremely well in that regard so…)

Then take those 5 tv’s and play your COD when it comes out. -spartan out-

Unrelated? Educate yourself on why they removed split screen. This is the basis for my rant. If its not a social game then its not Halo in my books.

I played 1 Match of Warzone and 1 match of arena. Not feeling it. I think it’s that the controls feel alien

Just beat the campaign. Had an absolute blast with it. Probably my third favorite campaign in the franchise.

Halo is SO much more than split-screen co-op.

Most of it WAS unrelated.
Anyways, splitscreen being removed makes it a hollow, empty, isolated shell?

Okay, now you’re just overreacting. This game has a TON of social aspects to it. I can understand being a little miffed about it but it doesn’t destroy everything about the series.

Then why didn’t you educate yourself about the no split screen before purchasing the game? It’s been announced for a long time now that it wouldn’t support split screen. So then this thread is a waste of time in my book.

Halo 5 is actually pretty good
And that is coming from someone who was a skeptic.

Lol ive been here since day 1 with halo, even played it at “pro level” way back in the day. The only complaints i have are the radar , sprint, and that room with the flower pots in the China shop stage. Other than that it plays a lot like halo 2 with increased movement options.

Ok, so tell my teenage son I won’t buy the game over split screen, good plan genius. Its not about the gameplay itself, I am sure my son will get hours of entertainment from it, as well as the rest of you socially inept gamers out there. I am not ranting on the campaign or the new pistols or any of than non-sense. Imagine they came out with a Mario Kart game that was one player unless you played online, now imagine how much that would suck. This is what i mean. Even the campaign was great fun to play with my son, only now I have to don a headset and talk to him through that to play together. Oh wait, i forgot that this generation texts each other when they are in the same room. Whatever, this world is doomed.

Your sons prolly gonna have alot more problems than just being a ‘social inept gamer’, like you pointed out.

Care to enlighten me?

If you have 5 tv’s and enough consoles to link them all together then what is the problem? Tell your son you’ll be right beside him the entire time.

I love how you went from talking about Halo to bashing the “new generation”. That’s even MORE unrelated.
Anyways, I got a few things to address:
A: You don’t even know any of us besides our screen name.
B: You are calling THE FUTURE OF HALO a empty shell because there’s no split screen, which leads to C:
C: You say that you’re not gonna tell your son you’re not buying the game over split screen, and yet here you are complaining about how there’s no split screen. If this is your main reason for everything then WHY NOT skip the game? You would rather buy the game knowing full well there’s no co-op meaning you get to complain- or not read up on ANY news about the game and buy it, then get mad because there’s no split screen and you have to tell your son that you can’t play this one game together. In the end you have to tell him. You have no one else to blame here except for yourself, because you bought the game without doing any research.
D: You’re calling us all ( and your son, nice job) socially inept because we don’t care about split screen as much as you seem to.
E: You’re comparing a racing game to a first person shooting game, two wildly different genres.
F: You say it’s not worth it, and then go on to say your son will get entertainment value out of it for sure. Sounds like its worth it for sure.

The only problem I have with no splitscreen is if they ever bring in almighty Grifball, then my wife can’t play with me other than that no big deal. If you are wanting to play with your son and have consoles and the TVs to support them then do what my friends and I would do back in the days of Halo 3 and Reach (we brought the TVs into the same area and played side by side, that way we all had a full screen which was so much better than splitscreen.)

Dude, it is 2015 (almost 2016), not 2001. Times are changing and local social play is a dying breed. Sucks, but it is a thing of the past. COD does split screen now, but COD is also a terrible game franchise these days. Nothing but recycled garbage and they have to do what they can to keep people into it.

A: Irrelevant, wasn’t going after gamers until you quipped in to defend the game
B: Only until they can sort out their software flaws/and or hardware issues for future games
C: Missing the point here, not saying the game lacks entertainment value. Assassins Creed is a great game that I can play on my own. Point is that Halo was something one could enjoy together
D: Yes I am indeed calling you all socially inept, including him.
E: Comparing an iconic multiplayer racing game with an iconic multiplayer FPS has common element of entertainment value as a sociable game platform
F: Removing Split Screen for enhanced graphics isn’t worth it.
G: Really don’t know why one would defend a horrible decision. I am sure there are thousands of people that would take a hit to graphics to maintain this aspect of the game.

Yes 15 years later and we have gone backwards due to technical difficulties? Shakes Head

Halo 5 was amazing. Your opinion is invalid to me.
