Halo 5 already? Really?

Not only has 343 given us an unfinished game, they’ve already started a new Halo tittle, not taking the time to solve the issues we’ve been having with the game from the beginning of its launch. I find this disappointing and sad. I probably wont even get it… -Yoink!- 343i.

FACEPALM.

You kids act like the company has 7 people all working on the same damn thing.

So then what are the Title Updates for? I’m not absolving 343i of their lackluster game, but this is a non-issue. All devs start work on the next game after they launch the previous game. Besides, from the sound of it, they are just doing concepts and pitching ideas at this point.

You must be new to gaming or you would know that this is normal for developers.

Since developer groups are made up of many people, 343i included, they can do multiple things at once. Concept and early designs for future projects, additional content and updates to current titles, etc etc. Task delegation and multi-tasking, this is nothing new.

AAA title development takes years, and getting a game or certification process alone takes 6 months.

It is standard for a development house to begin working on the next title in the series as soon as the last one has been released, while a smaller team focuses on supporting the current one.

That’s how it has always worked. After Halo 3, Bungie was working on both ODST and Reach while supporting Halo 3 multiplayer.

But by all means, if you insist on being alarmist, go right ahead.

There’s already a thread about this.

And they’re both equally stupid.

You don’t need the entire freakin’ company to work on fixes and bugs for Halo 4; just a few coders and such. What percentage of the team is that? The rest, the ones who make models, concept art, sounds, writing, etc., their job on Halo 4 is done; what do you want them to do, sit there while the coders do their job?

Does nobody THINK before posting?

You people must not understand that if they’re working on Halo 5 they probably wont put a lot of time into helping out the community. Sure, a few tittle updates here and there, but if they knew what they were doing, there wouldn’t be any complaining in the first place, so get the -Yoink- over it and stop trolling for once.

I have noticed something kind of funny on this forums, like a form of viral monkey see monkey make new thread and cry wolf. At first I was giving it the benefit of the doubt but this happens way too often.

Few things we first have to take into account, we don’t know it’s Halo 5, it could be a remake, and a third party developer could be involved.

343i isn’t going to take our money and run. If they want any hope to exist and keep the billion dollar franchise alive, they will work hard to keep 4 running smoothly and fix all the little balancing issues and bugs.

Rumor has it a new console is on the way. There’s no way Microsoft is launching it without a Next Gen Halo title ready to go on release.

You’re all missing the point he is trying to make!

343 will communicate and tell us that they are working on Halo 5, but they won’t give us ANY details as to whether they are considering our concerns, nor are they giving us any idea as to what they fixing.

it’s not flipping about who is working on what, it is about the COMMUNICATION.

Come on dude, really. No matter what they do there will be complaining. You know why? Cause what you think is amazing I may think is complete trash. You cannot make everyone happy…EVER!

There is a part of the company that is there to specifically work on fixes and updates for Halo 4 and there is part of the company working on the next thing. It’s called progress. When you go to work for a company someday you will realize this. We build control boxes for bakery ovens. We don’t stop making harnesses to build finished product and we don’t stop building finished product to build harnesses. It’s COMMON SENSE.

Where is this 343 communicating about making Halo 5 cause I don’t see it on this website. A reporter may have asked them a question and they answered it. God this forum makes me wanna jump off the Aurora Bridge into Lake Union.

Right, that happens to alot of developers…oh wait…

You’re just being paranoid.

> but if they knew what they were doing, there wouldn’t be any complaining in the first place

There was -Yoinking!- with Halo 2 and how it ruined the series, there was -Yoinking!- with Halo 3 and how it ruined the series, there was -Yoinking!- about ODST and how it was just a lame cash in, there was -Yoinking!- about Halo Wars despite it not even being Bungie’s game, there was -Yoinking!- with Reach and how it very nearly destroyed the franchise.

There. Is. Always. -Yoinking!-. With. The. Halo. Community.
It is a fact of live and an unavoidable one at that. Now I’m not saying that it’s ALL useless -Yoinking!-, just a large portion of it. There are legit complaints and I’d expect that they’ll be addressed.

> Rumor has it a new console is on the way. There’s no way Microsoft is launching it without a Next Gen Halo title ready to go on release.

Then it would have to be a Halo 2 remake because the next gen console is likely to come out near chirstmas of 2013.

Every game has problems chief and if a developer is good enough they fix them. 343i has promised fixes. Will they work? Perhaps, perhaps not. It isn’t trolling to be realistic and disagree with you. The fact TUs are happening show they know problems exist. That is more that Bungie did with Reach when they had it.

All you need to fix this stuff is a few coders. How many people work at 343? Hundreds? And what percentage of them are coders? 10%? Less?

They probably won’t start doing anything solid with Halo 5 for a while now. It’s all planning, concept art, brainstorming, etc. at this point.

It won’t take anything away from Halo 4

> Where is this 343 communicating about making Halo 5 cause I don’t see it on this website. A reporter may have asked them a question and they answered it. God this forum makes me wanna jump off the Aurora Bridge into Lake Union.

Wasnt that an act of communication?

20 bucks you’re going to buy Halo 5 when it’s released, probably the most expensive edition while you’re at it.

What you fail to realize is that 343i is made up of 300+ people. It doesn’t take that many people to fix the bugs in an existing game… What the hell would a graphics artist do to fix a bug? Besides Halo 5 needs to start being developed now because 343i has stated that Halo 5’s development cycle would be about 3 years. In 3 years most, if not all, of the bugs will be fixed in Halo 4.

This is the norm when it comes to making games. Release -> have a little break -> start development on the next game -> repeat.

Sorta but this kid acts like they are putting out news bulletins that they are working on Halo 5 now and that support for Halo 4 is over which is so far from the truth it makes me wanna punch babies due to pure stupidity. We as a society really need to start removing warning labels on things so that these issues with stupidity work themselves out.
