I know there are numerous threads of people complaining about the aim in halo 5, I myself noticed issues with the sensitivity, deadzone, regristration…etc Hopefully 343 will change it back to how the beta was. The aim in the beta felt amazing, imo felt better than all of the halos. Hopefully 343 will address this issue soon.
Gamespot just posted an article explaining what has changed with the aim and regristration from the beta. Imo if you suck you will still do bad regardless of aim, but that being said me and my dubs partner have both noticed this and I’m not saying were amazing or anything but in halo 2 I was a 44 in hardcore, halo 3 I was a 50 in multiple playlist including MLG, I never noticed this in either game. Game is amazing and I’m sure 343 will work things out, hopefully they adress these issues soon.
theyve modified the deadzones to apply for longer, it’s not great. i agree that the beta felt right. but it was a change probably suggested by the MLG Pros for whatever reason.
I agree. The aim is looser n harder to control. I don’t like it but I’m not gonna stop playing the game I love. It’s still amazing n I have fun. But I hope the adjust it a little closer to how it use to be in the beta.
No the game is fine. Don’t you see the sticky up top? /s
Yup there is a issue with aim acceleration and dead zone. It’s is VERY frustrating and I really want to enjoy the game but I cant. Even went back to MCC even tho halo 2 and 3, the diagonal axis sensitivity is WAY higher than the x and y and there is no logical reason why THAT would be a “design” choice
Do you guys feel like 343 would address this issue? I actually feel like this made the game way too easy, diminishing skill in one on one situations.
If people keep posting about it, I’d like to think they’ll change it. They have to do something. It doesn’t feel like Halo right now. I love everything about this game otherwise. I just can’t believe they changed the awesome mechanics that made Halo what it is. It’s really disappointing. I played MCC for 2 months leading up to this thinking it would feel the same. I was shocked and sad when it didn’t feel the way we all expected it to.
I used to be half decent at halo games but with the new aiming in this game it has completely changed that. Now I have alot of Trouble getting those crucial headshots.
I think the game is fine, you all just need to get good

Except there is hard proof the aiming is off. Get off your high horse.

You know, I used to think the same thing throughout the numerous years in which so many people (as well as myself) complained about sprint…
If whatever is being complained about doesn’t fit into 343’s agenda; their “vision” of Halo multiplayer, then it’s a lost cause no matter how many people are involved.
Personally, I never noticed any problems with the aiming. It feels right to me. But of course, everyone is different.

There are a few main issues I have with the aiming mechanics in Halo 5
-
the sensitivity drop that occurs as your reticle approaches a target is too sever, and it kicks in way too far off target. This makes aiming the reticle on target extremely sluggish and slow. The reticle becomes heavy and unresponsive to input. I understand that 343 is going for a “precision aiming zone”, but this zone is actually blocking input from arriving the reticle on target. In my opinion, the off target precision aiming zone should only help with the extremes of under & over aiming, so very low amounts of input toward a target would get a boost, extreme input toward a target would be decreased, and the remaining input values would receive no adjustment. Once ON-Target, the overall sensitivity can drop to its current setting.
-
time based acceleration creates inconsistent input / output relationships which hurt the process of building muscle memory. Having the reticle suddenly lurch, do to time based acceleration, does not bring any quality to the aiming process. This is a terrible aiming mechanic which should be dropped.
-
The 10 sensitivity level is painfully slow compared to previous Halos.
-
bullet magnetism is computer controlled aiming which lowers the value of actual player accuracy.

It’s pretty obvious (to me at least) that the pro gamers wanted 343 to put in a change to aiming that would benefit the pro gamers while hampering everyone else.
Of course, no sane developer would use this game design methodology. Except for 343.

Yeah their current control scheme with large dead zones doesn’t allow for fine tuned precision aiming. It takes away from those that can handle analog aiming on a minute scale. Give us options 343. One crappy controller tune doesn’t fit all players. In this day and age its inexcusable and shows lazy uninformed decisions.

You put it in words. Seconded.
People READ the one hundred other threads on this forum right now about the aiming changing recently. Ever since the update on 11/24 the aiming has been complete trash. In my thread I discuss possible puzzle pieces I have found to why this has happened. But the people denying it would be wise to read that thread before claiming nothing is wrong. Just because it didn’t affect you or you can’t notice doesn’t mean it didn’t change.
