Halo 5 with it’s bright colours , req system(for impaitent kids to buy with their parents credit card) , and robot’s as the primary enemy(promethians) and the lack of blood from killing covenant and other spartans and a dumbed down story …it just feels it’s not aimed at older teenager’s or adult’s anymore…just a thought i have had since i have been playing from launch feels like more of a child-friendly Halo rather the more grown up halo’s of the past
now im not saying it is a game for 5 year old but im just not sure if it’s hitting it’s core audience the same as past titles
tl;dr not bashing it at all just feel that game that involves killing things their seems to be a distinct lack of blood human , covenant alike and with Robot’s now the primary enemy halo 5 just doesnt feel as grown up as other halo’s but gameplay wise it is solid
I thought most of you guys started playing Halo when you were three.

I started with CE when I was about 6…

It does seem that way when I look around and see people who are apparently 18 and they’ve played every Halo game since Halo CE’s launch back in 2001. Too bad my parents believed in age ratings from the ESRB back then, so I couldn’t get any Halo or Call of Duty game until I was like 13, in 2011.
Well Halo in general has always been on the lighter side of the whole mature thing. Even when you look at past halos, they were colorful, goofy at times and were sci-fi which is sadly widely seen as childlike.
The game did not really dumb down the story, its just tried to do too much and removed story elements that were needed while adding ones that added nothing. It is in a way a more mature story just for the concepts it uses, sure its not gory (that does not make a game mature) but it plays with the ideas of life and death, relationships and the struggle of holding onto one when you should let go. Things that children dont tend to think about or experience.
I personally never thought halo deserved the M rating, it was never really vulgar, and like I said not really that gory. ESRB has just finally updated its outdated system for what is considered mature.
Considering it’s the first T rated fps Halo, wasn’t this obvious from the start?
just me who misses the amount of orange goo that comes out of hunter’s then? =/ and purple goo that comes out of grunts? …maybe just me …

I thought the elites had the purple blood while the grunts had that neon blue blood

Not sure, but if I remember correctly, my first FPS was Wolfenstein, have to stick with Unreal Tournament for being one of my favorites. Yeah, 3, I started at 3, I will turn 4 sometime soon.

You’re always a facetious / sarcastic smart -Yoink-, but I always end up loving the hell out of it.
Waypoint does need a wake up call once in awhile, and you are the hero Waypoint needs.

As for this…eugh.
You come across as someone in the “if it’s not gritty and edgy it’s not for adults” camp. Which is a mentality I don’t agree with whatsoever. To be honest Halo has never really qualified for that either, even in Halo Ce there’s only occasional blood and occasional swearing. Halo has always been bordering between T and M.
At the same time, I can’t say I’m a fan of the unfocused art direction and the le dank maymay skins. That does feel like it’s intended for a younger, more modern audience.
I agree with everything except the REQ system. Responsible parents dont let their kids play with their credit cards.
But the lack of blood and a mild story is certainly more kid friendly than prior titles.
as for rating, this shouldnt be that surprising. Most Halos dont deserve a M. CE, 2 and 3 have M just because of the gore from the flood. Reach had a darker tone and was actually more of a proper M game. 4 was also pretty mild but was only M because of the scene where the Dr got disintegrated in detail.
I’m in my 40’s n loving halo 5
The younger crowd are the biggest consumer of video games. So with that said, Halo 5 is aimed at the same crowd halo has always been aimed at.

linkA majority are in their 30’s with the largest demographic being over the age of 36.
