Halo 5 accuracy tips

Obviously its ideal to aim for the head and or when firing at an enemy its essential to land all your shots especially when in a gun fight, But this is not always the case and some times you will lose but for me i have crap accuracy… with an average 25-30 percent accuracy rating at the end of matches i have come to the conclusion that i can do so much better if i was up in the say 50-60 percentile area. Needless to say for all you halo vets out there what are some tips and tricks that helped you land those crucial shots and what sensitivity are you playing at. Again i understand that this takes time and practice but i feel i am doing something wrong still like i dont have that part of the puzzle yet, Anyways i want to hear on what you have to say

I play a fair amount of Octagon which greatly helps with accuracy if you play it consistently. I play on the sense 4 with 2 accel. If Octagon doesn’t help then check out luke the notable on youtube

First I’d recommend finding a sensitivity that works for you. Most people end up using somewhere between 3-6, so I’d suggest trying those first. After that its just a matter of practice. Octagon is good for practice, but if you don’t have anyone to play with Warzone Assault is also really good as long as you stick with the pistol. Try to avoid the Battle Rifle as the 3 round burst makes your aim lazy. I would also avoid not playing Halo 5 for long periods of time as you will gradually lose the muscle memory. If you want to get really good try to get on daily even if its just a few matches. Just keep reinforcing that muscle memory.

Well i am on daily its honestly the only game i play its halo and gta ahaha

this is how i improved my accuracy as i had alot of problems in the past since im recently introduced to halo.

first of, i bought a 23 inch monitor in which it has helped me alot. playing on a smaller monitor greatly improves my accuracy in my opinion. i also have my controller connected via wired to my xbox. i also turned of vibration and i spent countless hours practicing sensitivities. i have reached my most comfortable settings at 4/4 sensitivities with 0% both dead zones with boxer settings. i was never able to master the bumper jumper or hell jumper settings so i like better boxer. now aiming has to do alot with both joysticks, not just with the right stick. you should “lock” aim with the right stick and then “track” with the left stick for a perfect aim. thats how halo 5 aiming works at least from my experience and from people on youtube giving aiming pro tips. give it a try but be patience ans this kind of issues requires alot of practice.

I have been pretty good with the joysticks and making sure i use my left for hovering around the enemy and then the right to drift to the head more or less for fine tuning. and right now i have my sensitivity at 3/4 with 0% dead zones (since its a brand new controller) also have my vibration off and i have the aim down hover function off it just threw me off too much, my biggest issue is slowing down the gun fights so i don’t snap my aiming and just relax with e enemy

OP, one the biggest tips I can give you on this is this: Pace your shots. And here is what I mean by that.

Dont focus on shooting your gun as fast as it can shoot while trying to make your reticle keep up with your shots. Instead do the opposite: Focus on keeping your reticle on your target, and try to only pull the trigger while the reticle is on target. It’s a lot easier to track your target when you’re not rapidly pulling the trigger and hoping your shots land.

For instance, a lot of times when I’m using my magnum, my Shots will sound like this: “BAM-BAM-BAM-Pause-BAM-BAM”. That pause happens when I’ve noticed my next shot is going to miss so instead of shooting which wastes time and ammo, I stop shooting readjust my aim, and start shooting again once I’m on target. I went from low 40’s in accuracy per game to getting 50-60 in a lot of games. If I ever drop below that it’s likely from using the AR or other autos more than usual.

whenever I’m not doing well in a game,to start trying to make a comeback the first thing I do is focus on pacing my Shots, cause a lot of times it seems that my shot is “off” because I’m getting lazy and just spamming the trigger.

theres no point in shooting when you know it’s not gonna land. What I said above isn’t going to mean you’ll have perfect accuracy, but you will see it improve.

When you first start working on this, at first it’s gonna feel weird - your first instinct when being shot at is to shoot back as fast as you can, but you have to fight that urge. Overtime you’ll be able to shoot much faster while also maintaining accuracy as you get better with it. It won’t take long before you’re dealin out hot 5’s with the magnum.

warzone assault is a great place to practice this. Only use the magnum no matter how high your req level gets, then reward yourself at the end by calling in something big :).

Feel free to add me and we can run some octagon and work on it.

Im going to try this and all of it makes sense i think i will give you an add maybe we can play some soon

I know this sounds cliche, but practice makes perfect. If you just keep playing then you should get better over time. I think somewhere in the 40s is probably the average accuracy for the playerbase as a whole so you should be able to get there if you keep playing. Also I’d suggest practicing a lot with the single shot weapons.

Pretth much the only wepon ive been isimg the pazsed 3 days has been my magnum

Sometimes I put down suppression shots so it tanks my accuracy. I usually am around 48 to 55%. But I personally put down shots then rotate. When I do spam a certain area to keep people at bay it tanks my accuracy.

That being said, you’re ranked higher than average players so it makes sense that you have good accuracy. How effective do you find suppressing fire? I feel like it isn’t as effective in Halo compared to other games.

For me it’s super effective. I watch the pro lethul do it all the time. It prevents people from peaking. It may not kill them but if you get a shot once their shield is popped, it stays down. They are a sitting duck while your team can run a flag or something.

So i had 4 consecutive games where my accuracy at the end of the match was 60-65%

Things are getting better and better every day ahaha

Don’t just aim with the right stick. Move your player with the left stick accordingly to help stay on your target and dodge their bullets. Always keep your thumbs from fidgeting as well. Fast movement is good, but always keep some form of defense wherever you go.

Those are a few of my playing methods.

Well one thing im happy about now is that im not flickimg my shot anymore and i am slowing everything down and landing more and more shots. Once i started using my left stick for rough aiming and roght stick for fine tuning i noticed a crazy jump in accuracy

pro-tip, i have near perfect accuracy with the sniper rifle when i jump and then hover, perhaps the game gives more aim assist when you do that or something…

if you have an elite controller i would put one of the tall sticks on the right stick and keep a shorter one on the left, that way movement is easy and aiming is more precise.

I do have for my controller a playstation type analog stick for the right side it forces me to be gentle because if i try to flick my shot my thumb slips

Out of curiosity are you playing on a TV or monitor?

I recently switched and accuracy improved drastically.

Also like some other people have mentioned, warming up and dialing in your sensitivity by playing customs and octagon matches is very helpful.

Also, don’t rush your shots. Sometimes i find myself ripping of shots with my magnum as fast as possible, but less accurately than if I slow myself down slightly and really focus on those head shots, especially when I know they are 1-shot.
