Halo 5 . A list of things for the next game.

Halo 4 is a great game but it is missing many things that I hoped for would be in the game. But since it is not in Halo 4 and a new Halo game is announced for 2014 I want to start a discussion about things that should be in this new Halo game by simply making one or two lists of things that I personaly would love to see in the next game. I hope that someone at 343Industries will notice this.

First of all comes a list of things for the next Halo game that should be brought back. Things that were in previous Halo games but not in Halo 4. This list will be bit long. Sorry for that.

  • Duel Wielding. What is more badass than using two guns at the same time? Duel wielding in Halo 2 and 3 gave the gameplay an interesting aspect of weapon useage both in the campagn and in Multiplayer.

-Of course there should be weapons in the game that fits well for duelwielding like the good old SMGs and the Plasmarifles from previous games. the Magnum and the plasma pistol. But don’t let the Boltshot be able to duel wield. This gun is stron enough.

  • Hornet/Falcon. The Falcon in Reach was a good teambase air vehicle that would be very usefull in Halo 5 Big Team Battles. Or the Hornet as a counterpart of the banshee.

-Firefight. Everyone wants firefight back. Spartan Ops is great and should also be in the new Halo game but fighting endless waves of enemies was very funnt to do in ODST and Reach. Please bring it back to the new Halo game with all enemy types in the game.

-The Flood. This enemy always was a cool part in Halo CE ,2 and 3. Fighting a completly different kind of enemies than the Covenant was gave those games a special gameplay experience. Fighting against the Flood was always a bit different than fighting the Covenant and would also probably be completly different than fighting Prometheans.

  • Other Enemy Types like the Skirmisher from Reach. That kind of a jackel was something new in the franchise that was refreshing Jackal as an enemy type

-Gametypes like Invasion from Reach should definitive come back. With the next gen console there could be many great battles online.

  • Being able to play as Elites in Multiplayer and Firefight and costumize your Elite too.

  • The Players Leveling system from Reach. This ranking system where you can rank up in millitary ranks from Privat to sergant to Captain up to Genereal and so on in Halo Reach surely was not perfect. It lacked a little bit of understanding about how a player can get as much cR points as possible from a game when you played Firefight , the Campaign or Multiplayer ,BUT it had something that mostly only RPG games have. This addicting leveling up feeling.

I remember that i have played hundreds of hours in the Halo Reach Campagne for reaching Commander just for unlocking a helmet that looked badass. The countless hours that I spend both online and offline in this game is unimaginable. Collecting cR points and ranking up never became really boring thanks to the gameplay and the big varity of options a player had to gain those points. And the ranking should last a much longer time than Halo 4 did. Reachin SR130 was really easy in my opinion and way to fast to accomplish.

  • (This one is really just my wish) Bring back cR points in a more logical, RPG-game-like points system. " Buying" your Armour pieces had a more rewarding feeling when you finaly put your new armour on your Spartan than it had in Halo 4 or in Halo 3. But Players should have two options to unlock new armour pieces before they can “buy” it. Either they reach a certain rank in the game or the finish a challenge specialy made for the armour pieces.

-Badass armour pieces. Halo 4 has some really cool looking armour pieces but did not match the badass levels of the Halo Reach armour pieces. They Don’t look that much different in Reach than they look like in Halo 4 but the players always had options for giving his/her Spartan cool details like a very big knive on a shoulder armour piece or some grenades on your chest or a little camera on the helmet.

That’s everthing that in my opionion should be brought back into the Halo Franchise.
But bringing only old game and gameplay elements back would be kind of boring so I have some new Ideas for the next Halo Game that could be considered being in the games. This time the list will be shorter. (except for the first and seconde one…)

-Mixing Firefight with Multiplayer an Multiplyer gamemodes. A concept Idea for this is that classic teams ( Red vs. Blue) have to fullfill an objective normaly , but instead of fighting against the enemy team , they have to fight against bot enemies. For example Capture the Flag. Main objective is to get the enemy flag from the enemy and bring it back to the own base faster than the other team do. this happens parallell

-A silenced Weapon only for Campaign and Spartan Ops. This weapon could be a strong SMG like the SMG from Halo 3 ODST or it could be a completly new weapon. It could be used for playing more stealthier in certain Campaign missions or in Spartan Ops missions and increase the options in the gameplay a player can have in. But keep it out of multiplayer. This gun would be unessecary in there.

-A huge amount of mini challenges that make it possible to rank up fast your ranks

-An editor that gives us the options for customizing each individuel armour piece. Like putting some bullets on them, a big knive on the shoulder , etc.

  • An Emblem Editor. Making our own personel emblems would be cool.

  • Remove the Budget from Forge or increase the amount of Money for it.

-Just an cosmetic extra. Being able to buy different Knives for your Spartan that shows different Assassinations depending on which knife you have.

  • More generel Cosmetic options for costimazing your own Spartan as much as you want.

That is everything that comes in my mind that could be considered in the new Halo Game. Please don’t forget that those few Ideas are just an Idea of a single person. The main Idea of this Forum Post is not to bring MY personel Ideas and wishes into the new Halo Game for 2014 but for starting discussions that are meant to give the Developers of this game Ideas and tipps already now of what they should do for making this game as awesome and as Halo Like as possilbe. And since it is announces at E3 on Juny the 10th 2013 they have plenty of time to see our ideas and work with those ideas. Feel free to write your own ideas in this Post or make your own posts.

All I saw in this list was you basically saying you want Halo Reach back. You need to understand that Reach essentially killed Halo because of how it completely eliminated the formula that made it successful in the first place.

In order for 343 to bring back the massive fanbase that left towards the end of Reach/beginning of Halo 4, they need to dump all of the new, unbalanced COD features like loadouts and ordinance, and bring back the competitive strategic elements that made Halo so successful.

That being said, I’m going to break down your list and give some feedback:

I disagree because dual welding really doesn’t add anything to the game other than being able to hold too underpowered weapons. Instead of using those guns why not learn how to use more powerful spawning weapons like the BR/LR?

I agree with this.

I agree, but with some changes to the previous versions.

We already destroyed the Flood on the Arc at the end of Halo 3. Don’t beat a dead horse.

Since Invasion was one of the few gametypes I actually had fun with in Reach, I agree with this.

Unless, it was only in specific gametypes, I disagree and they should keep it only to Spartans so we don’t have the same BS situation like we did in H3 where people would play as Elites in SWAT (which ruined the killbox since Elites ate shots like crazy).

First of all please use spell check before posting. Second, I agree that actual military ranks need to be brought back. And third, ABSOLUTELY NO PROGRESSION SYSTEM. 343 needs to do away with the progression-system completely and go back to something that actually took skill like the EXP system in Halo 3. Progression systems don’t measure skill or wins/loses, they just measure how much a person plays and has no bearing on their ability to actually play. Please, for the love of god 343, GET RID OF THE PROGRESSION SYSTEM!

I agree to a certain extent, Reach and H4 have too many armor set pieces while only a few actually look good and stand out. For Halo 5 have it quality over quantity: less pieces but put more effort into each one.

Interesting concept. If it could be perfected it might actually be really fun.

Hell no. Make it harder to rank up so bad players don’t just spam challenges and rank up like crazy. Ranks should measure skill and wins/loses, not how many challenges you complete.

Yes. These are things they should’ve done a long time ago.

Budget can’t be removed because its tied with how much game data is being put on the map, which the system can only compute so much until it runs out of memory.

Unnecessary, but if they were earned I don’t see how having a 12-inch boowie knife for your character wouldn’t be awesome.

This is a good list! Personally I’m neutral on dual-wielding since it seemed kind of useless to me, but I wouldn’t mind it being back. Everything else sounds awesome.

I want Dedicated Servers, myself…

This P2P -Yoink!- brings upon more problems than it may solve.

Aside from that? Dual Wielding would be nice. And, I believe UNSC aerial vehicles should be available as well. I could care less about Firefight, as I seldom played it myself. I’ve never been a fan of survival game modes.

We definitely need more gametypes, Invasion being the one I want to return the most. For being a gametype emphasized so much by Bungie, it really got the shaft. And, when it was updated, it was too little too late.

Elites in MP should definitely make a return in my opinion, as I have friends who are Elite enthusiasts.

I’m all for more in depth customization of my Spartan, and greater improvements to Forge. I also say, the more armor permutations available, the better!

I have no real opinion of the ranking system, as I’m fine with anything as long as it isn’t too tedious or too short to reach the cap. I think if a Credit/Exp system is implemented it should meet at a middle ground between Halo 4 and Halo: Reach.

I also believe buying your armor pieces should stay out permanently. I’m more comfortable with earning my armor, as it isn’t just a boring grind.

I feel Loadouts and Armor Abilities should stay for good, albeit with a few adjustments. I enjoy being able to tailor what I spawn with to my preferred playstyle.

Ordnance needs to go, however. It kind of takes the arena shooter element away from Halo.

As for an actual competitive ranking system whether it be CSR or whatever, I have no opinion. It can show up in game, it can exist, whatever, I don’t care. Though, I feel if it is made visible in game that the player should be able to toggle whether its displayed on and off.

Well, that’s about all of the input I have time to place in.

Halo 3’s ranking system, no sprint or any armor abilities, and good, small maps. Remake The Pit, Guardian, Construct, etc.

A spectator mode. There is no excuse as to why it is not in the game. Alot of games now all have spectator mode. That just one of my things I want to see.

I am aware that many things in my list are mostly found in Halo Reach, but those Ideas and wishes I had for this are not gameplay essencial. Most of them are more or less just cosmetic things. Like this Ranking system from Reach that actually just showed which player player the game most. They could mix things up a little bit. Like that the CSR is still for Multiplayer seperate from this Reach ranking. While the Reach-like ranking exists as an " who played the game most and most effective" rank. And like I said, it’s just an Idea.

There’s really only two things I want at this point.

  1. For the radar jammer to return. I miss having a legitimate stealth ability, Active Camo doesn’t have much use outside of sniping and long range combat.

  2. For assassinations to reward the kill at the time of the killing blow. It doesn’t make sense, nor is it fair, to put a knife into someone’s skull, only for him to die from a subsequent shot to the foot. It’d be like Person A sniping Person B in the head, only for Person C to punch Person B’s corpse and get the kill for it instead of Person A. There’s absolutely no difference, dead is dead, acknowledge that.

You all forgot the most important thing. Dedicated servers. It was confirmed by IGN.

  1. ordnance needs to go, without it map control is back.
  2. unsc flying vehicle, seriously 343 why no hornet or falcon
  3. rank by skill, not by playtime
  4. bring back the shield/health barrier. i hate having half shields and still being 1 hit meleed.
