Just felt like posting my thoughts up for everyone to judge and then troll me accordingly.
I would consider my self a “Halo purist” for lack of a better term. I loved Halo CE, 2 and 3 with a passion. They were all quite different in many aspects but they all kept the golden triangle of Halo that made the games great. Guns. Grenades. Melee.
Halo 3 was awesome, but I was never a fan of the introduction of equipment. To me, it felt out of place and a bit gimmicky. It didn’t enhance the multiplayer experience it was just something added to it.
Halo Reach was a step in the wrong direction in my opinion as it added new features that didn’t compliment the equation that Halo had been built on in all previous installments. Instead of perfecting or refining existing features it simply slapped more on top. This made Reach feel cluttered and chaotic; but more importantly it was a game that had an identity crisis.
Then Halo 4 comes around and obviously it wasn’t made by the same team but it once again was a game with a bunch of newly added features that I admit had potential but suffered greatly from poor execution. Halo 4 had quite a few issues in regards to bugs and what not but overall I didn’t find it to be a bad game, I just found it to be a bad Halo.
Although I will wait till I’ve played the Halo 5 beta, I suspect it will suffer the same fate as 4. Huge launch and great initial success but the player base will diminish rapidly only to never return. Halo 5 assuming it is well built and balanced will more than likely be a great game. I just don’t think it will be a great or even good Halo. Why not perfect or at least continue to refine existing facets of a game before attempting to introduce new ones? It seems a bit backwards to me and according to multiplayer numbers I am among the majority when I say that Halo has gone downhill at an alarming rate.
TL;DR
Halo 5 will probably be a good game. Halo 5 will not be a good Halo game. Sprint destroys the flow of the game as well as do some of the other abilities.

Considering how 4 people (me included of course) just replied to his thread, that means people do care.

Normally I wouldn’t, but the purist comment made me chuckle. People like him who believe the original trilogy was the best thing to happen since sliced bread need to relax a little bit. People like Halo for various reasons. He hates Reach & 4 and thinks 5 will flop. I enjoy aspects of all the Halo games, and will wait till the beta comes out to say whether or not I like 5.
While he may be stressing his opinion of what Halo should and shouldn’t be, nobody cares to see another thread like this pop up. There are countless ones on the forums that people can go add to. We don’t need any more clutter than we already have.

Sprint is the least of Halo 4’s problems. I don’t see why 343 insists on including the feature but it isn’t even worth complaining about until after the beta. Sprint in Halo 5 seems worthless on small maps so far and after the beta it will only get worse with community feedback. The sprint acceleration makes it seem like it’s for big team and campaign.
The shooting and base movement looks very Halo and map control is a thing again. I’m optimistic about the beta.
Before I start this comment I would like to say Halo CE, 2 and 3 are the best shooter games I have ever played (my opinion) and what I say below is not criticism it’s just my opinion. As for Halo 4 it had a great campaign but there was something about the multiplayer that just didn’t feel Halo. Maybe it was the Loadouts and unbalanced armour abilities. But that didn’t make it a bad game as I spent countless hours on it.
Anyway I don’t know about everyone here but I actually think Halo 5 looks very intense. Fast paced gameplay with loads of new balanced features. It’s 2014 everybody Halo needs to be more modern to compete with all other AAA shooters. Yes I know The Halo Trilogy is Original with its play style but it does need a change of pace. Halo 4 was a good start but some things were poorly made. I personally think Halo 5 will revive the franchise and crown it king again. Roll on December 9th

I completely agree but I feel like Halo 5 will be up against some heavy competition, with games like Evolve. Might take a little more to be crowned king once again but I wont jump the gun until the beta.
