Halo 4's sound effects are REALLY loud.

I really miss the quiet parts in the past Halo campaigns, because of all the little ambient sounds in the background (like the wind blowing in the distance in the Delta Halo mission in H2 or the distant gunfire in multiplayer maps and campaign levels). Now in H4, all I hear is constant gunfire and explosions that are WAY louder than anything else. And when that dissipates, the music is still going on (even though it’s really quiet). AND THEN, when there is room for background noises, they’re really quiet any and it gets overlapped by the loud footsteps my character makes. I mean, Halo 4’s sound effects are sick, but they overlap any ambient noises and it just takes away from the overall atmosphere.

Yeah, I feel the same way. Everything sounds so loud, heavy, and chunky in this game.

I also think that the footsteps are WAY too loud. Although I like it because I can hear my enemies’ footsteps better, it can still be annoying. Whenever I put the Stealth mod on, I feel that it is too quiet. I wish that the default walking noise was somewhere in between.

Agreed. I think this is just me, but do you find comfort when you hear the ambient wind from the Delta Halo mission? I feel like I could fall asleep with it in the background. :stuck_out_tongue:

Are you talking about the Delta Halo level from Halo 2? If so, yes, I love the sounds of the winds in the background.

In the first mission, where your ship gets scanned by the Forerunner planet… That scared the -Yoink- out of me the first time it happened. Such a piercing noise.

Then 343 has succeeded in that department, it was supposed to be a scary, piercing noise lol. Yeah, it scared me a little bit too aha but I loved it! That’s the exact kind of sound I wanted for the first mission.

Well at least 343 made them noticeable. For the clunky footstep sounds, half ton armor will do that.Stealth was added to get rid of the loud footsteps so at least it has a purpose.Which also helps go along with the faster assassinations.

Spartan III’s had heavier armor [than the Spartan-IV suits] in Reach, and their footsteps were a whole lot quieter lol.

I still have not been so scared as when one of those Knights super teleports or whatever to directly in front of you when you are like 10x scoped on a Sniper Rifle. Terrifying! Haha it scares me every single time

Has anyone experienced the glitch on Ragnarok where a really loud grating noise happens for the whole game? It starts at random times and doesn’t end until the game is over.

NRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
OH MY GOD WHAT IS THAT?! SHUT THE -Yoink- UP!!!

Reach also had invincible spartans that could armor lock on demand.Just saying.I try to pretend reach never existed, sorry it slipped my mind. looks off at the wall

Choice of who was doing the sound effects. I guess 343 wanted MJOLNIR to sound its weight.

Also another thing to add, when you walk through (the scarce amount of) grass in the H4 campaign and SpOps, you don’t hear the little woosh of the grass moving, you hear CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK. This really gets on my nerves sometimes.

Not sure why you are complaining about this, you need some good sound effects to add atmosphere to the game, and there are plenty of relaxing areas to just mellow out in if that is your cup of tea… especially in the Campaign.

Spartans weigh 800-1000+ pounds in armor… there foot steps would never be as soft as they were in Reach, especially when walking on hard metal. The armor plating also has to have fortitude, and maneuverability, causing further weight as a Spartan takes each step, it is realistic that your foot steps are noticeable if your wearing Titanium clad armor like theirs, it was added for immersion and awareness.

You can not notice the foot steps all that well if you do not have a high quality headset, so if anything you should be praising them for giving the footsteps a little more impact on hard surfaces so you can remain more aware of your surroundings.

There are some legitimate things that can be complained about, this is not one of them… have you never played Crysis, Gears of War, or Dead Space even… their sound effects are much much louder.

Are you talking about the Promethean Vision sound effect glitch? That happens to me when I’m trying to make a clip in theater all the time, it’s really frustrating. If you pause or start recording when somebody activates PV, the sound effect keeps looping until you end theater mode and return. I’ve had that happen multiple times trying to record the same clip. -_-

Wow really? Huh I thought louder more powerful volume was a good thing, I consider it that way actually.
