Halo 4 is so much better now than launch it actually feels like halo now so if you havent played since launch or december than just give halo 4 another chance i will list all the things halo 4 added since launch to make it fun.
Halo 4 got a weapon tuning to balance the weapons. The dmr is no longer the god weapon for everything. The br was changed from a 5 shot kill to 4 shot kill, the dmrs red reticule range was reduced. The carbine was changed to a 7 shot kill from an 8 shot to balance the br. All the automatics got a damage buff to make it actually deadly close range.
There is a lot more playlist variety now than launch. We now have Team doubles, Team snipers, Team throwdown (like mlg competitive settings br starts only no sprint, no AAs, ordance drops either a thruster pack hardlight shield or holo, gram), we now have team action sack, we have swat now, and flood has been improved with new gametypes.
They added a team slayer top 200 leaderboards and a 1-50 ranking system on your service record in halowaypoint.
Team slayer csr was changed from individual to team based.
They added a forge island that makes forging much easier.
They added good map packs such as the majestic pack and bullseye map pack which have good 4v4 team slayer maps like skyline and a remake of halo 3s pit renamed pitfall.
They added awesome community forge maps to matchmaking such as onyx (midship remake but bigger for sprint), shutout (halo 2 lockout remake). and much more.
They added more gametypes in halo 4s infinity slayer playlist (now renamed team slayer) one of my favorites is legendary slayer br which consists of br/ar only starts no Armor abilities, no ordnance, and no perks. They also added team slayer which is basically infinity slayer with no personal ordnance making it much more balanced.
Action sack has added many fun gametypes never seen in halo before such as mini slayer, binary slayer, and paintball.
- Boltshots range has been reduced making it much less effective.
Weapons have been added to the maps so if u run out of ammo u can pick up another br, dmr, or light rifle.
Ordnance has been changed to static ordnance meaning weapons always spawn in the same spots and there not random anymore.
Cons of halo 4 still:
No 1-50 in game ranking system
no descope
Sprint
Cant drop the flag
Low population.
I suggest

giving halo 4 another chance its a lot funner and better.
i agree with all your cons, but sprint actually speeded halo a little up, the previous halo games were too slow pasted (for me…), sprint definitely fits in, and gives u the feeling of actuall being a spartan
and yeah if the left community would give it a second try it would may rise again… but somehow we cant really reach them
actually the other day i played and the population wasn’t that bad… i mean roughly 7000 bts and 5000 ts is not that bad

Sprint isn’t needed in Halo and it doesn’t actually speed up Halo.Just a slight illusion.Sure you move a tad faster but maps were made bigger to compensate.Big woop.To you sprint “fits in”, because it gives the feeling of being a spartan. Is that right?I could argue that logic with this.Sprint needs to go because it doesn’t fit in and makes me not feel like a spartan.See?Work’s great.Yep…sprint has gotta go lol.
I’ll state it again. No force on earth will make me rebuy Halo 4.You think i am the only one that think’s that way? Here’s a bunch of reason’s and aren’t even 1/4 the problems most have with Halo 4.So good luck with a second chance for Halo 4.
Halo 4 lags too much.No proper in-game ranking system.Flinch and not descope.Slow strafe and high aim assist/bullet magnetism.Default sprint in a Halo game is absurd. No classic game mode.No juggernaut.limited customs.limited forge.lame maps in general.BTB vehicle combat is pointless due to badly designed maps and loadouts destroy vehicle combat. The Mantis comes to mind.Boltshot.Promethean vision(wallhack),Jet pack(maps become pointless), and Active camo(too easy to abuse). No talking Grunts.
I could go on but i think this is enough.Though before i end this, let me mention one thing. For halo, 5-7k in the 2 most popular playlist’s is pretty bad.I wonder why hahaha.
Halo 4 was a bad game at release. Thanks to infinity settings it still hasn’t fully recovered. It has nothing to do with nostalgia.
And Halo 4’s population is dead. 6000 in TS is pathetic. Halo 3 social slayer had more players in it during peak hours than Halo 4 the game. A single H3 playlist had more players than this entire game. Hopefully that puts things in perspective.
Despite my bitter feelings, I had a bit of fun playing Halo 4 last night, which was the first time I played the game in months. I especially loved Legendary Slayer, and felt curious as to why that designated playlist failed.

Because the playlist was AR starts (automatic fail), the gametype now has BR starts.

when i play halo 3 or reach i feel like I’m playing in slow motion.just sayin. no game is flawless and yes infinity settings may not be for true halo players but 343 has added competitive game types as already said legendary br or team throwdown
sometimes i have the feeling that halo players just can’t handle changes. if every single halo would be the same it would be annoying, some guys act like every little change in halo is bad and that’s just not true

I agree with you completely. To be honest, I much prefer Infinity settings to the gameplay in previous Halo games. Whenever I play Halo 3 now it just annoys me that I can’t traverse the map as quickly as I would like to, and particularly annoys me that I am forced to spawn with the weapons that the game wants me to spawn with. I feel like Halo 4 adds a lot more variety to the gameplay, with things like sprint and ordinance having to be factored in. Big Team Battle in particular is WAY more fun with Infinity settings.
I wish some other Halo players could see the changes as I do, and actually enjoy playing the game instead of complaining about how it isn’t the same as the last game. If you’re looking for the same game every year, try Call of Duty…

> > My opinion exactly. Though in the future I hope H5 reverts back to original Halo settings, as it’s its what most fans want. Halo 4 is fun IMO, and the recently added Husky raid is simply the best gametype I’ve played. 343 is trying to fix what they wronged, and I respect them for that.
I think the real problem with Halo 4 is that the Multiplayer Team put too much emphasis on “accessibility” and “chaotic gameplay”, thus making new players appear like pros to TrueSkill. Easily obtained power weapons negate the need to learn basic player skills, so many players learn to depend on AA’s and power weapons. Thus today there are no big name players who are admired for their mad skills. There is no way to differentiate yourself from the masses.
If they severely limited the availability of power weapons in Infinity games it could possibly become more popular. It’s too late to “save” the game, but I don’t see any harm in trying it. That might make it worth a second chance.

I do see the changes. It doesn’t mean I have to like every single one of them.
I’m not asking for the same thing over and over, but I do expect that if something wasn’t broken, and it worked fine, don’t change it for the hell of it.
It’s hard for me to enjoy the experience when the new clashes against the old: How many times were you killed by a Sniper that can still keep its aim on you after you shot him(or in reverse)? How many times did you see players jumping into the chaingun Warthog and actually using it for what it is, and not as a big mongoose? How many times were you killed a player, only to be killed by him again because he spawned nearby, and sprinted to your location before your shields can fully recharge(and the opposite)? How many times did you get a Personal Ordnance drop that was terrible, while the enemy team got a better one(and vice versa)?
I can see flaws in both games. However, Halo 4 was more flawed because the devs didn’t understand why the stuff they changed were in effect in the first place. Some of them were good attempts at changing things and would refresh the game alot. Others either went overboard with them that harmed the experience while others just underperformed and would require more work than originally intended.
I’m all for new things, but like others have said, “If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.” Vehicle Combat is broken because they went overboard on weapon loadouts. Gaining breathing room is broken thanks to flinch, which also resulted in more OP sniper and long range weapons. Instant respawn has harmed smaller maps for the sake of “speeding the pace of the game”. Personal Ordnance encouraged camping, even more so now that random spawning ordnance is out the window.
There are good things in Halo 4. But you can’t deny that there are alot of flaws Halo 4 has brought to the table that 343 needs to address at this stage.

You weren’t playing in slow motion. Sprint is an illusion to make you feel like you’re moving faster but the map sizes were upscaled to negate it. It’s a useless feature.
Yes, 343 put a band-aid on Halo 4 after it already bled out. I want Halo 5 to be good at release this time around.
I’m not afraid of change if it’s actually good. But the changes in Halo 4 were bad. It’s that simple. Ordnance, broken AAs and poorly designed loadouts were bad changes.
I can agree launch was horrible and yes halo 4 was a lot better now but people don’t want to buy it again and there’s nothing we can do about it.
-Lag can be solved if we had a high population. (which will never happen)
-Op im not sure if you knew but aim assist was greatly lowered a couple of months ago so the aim assist ain’t that high anymore, you should add that to your list for pros. (but I turned it off anyways)

Halo 4 is dead. I just played it for the first time in 4 months and it is a lot better but it is still subpar to every other halo game. The reason why I came back was to get into the top 200, but I am met with this bullsh!t:
Join in Progress - Doesn’t belong in the game, if it does, the whole game would have to reset so you dont join into an ordnance spawn trap like I have 3 times in a row
Matching Teams - The second part to that is when a team of 4 matches up with randoms, the to4 is almost always going to win, and usually by quite a bit too.
Stupid amounts of lag - I love it when I get 40 hit markers on a guy and don’t even drop his shields
The rest of the cons the OP mentioned
The most frustrating thing for me is why 343 decided to try and redo halo, especially when they didnt have a full studio to begin with.
oh and getting matched up with limited teammates every single game.
oh and the csr doesnt make any sense, I lose I stay the same rank, I win I go down a rank?

God I hope not. Bland old vanilla Halo would be horrible to play.
If I wanted that, I’d be playing Halo 3 still. But I’m not, and I probably wont because … its slow, its predictable and boring.
The only thing I’m not really happy about in Halo 4 is JIP. While I understand why they did it, its frustrating getting thrown into games that are practically over with.
Life long Halo fan here. Haven’t touched it since Battlefield4 came out. A game that is riddled with bugs and freezes, but I’d still rather play it because the vehicle combat is fun when I need a break from infantry play. Since Reach, Halo vehicles have been made of paper and defy the laws of gravity. I’ve seen bouncy balls get less spring action than the Warthogs in Reach and Halo4. Pair that with sticky grenade load outs and you have something I don’t find fun anymore. It’s a shame.
