So guys, on release day how big do you think Halo 4 will be? How many copies do you think it’ll sell? What game or Halo do you think it’ll outsell?
surpass halo 3
Well it should outsell all of them because its market is growing significantly.
> surpass halo 3
What about Reach? Wait did Reach outsell Halo 3, I don’t remember what the numbers between them were.
> Well it should outsell all of them because its market is growing significantly.
Totally agree, those who never played Halo before or those transitioning from CoD to Halo will be buying it because they finally understand that Mw3 is -Yoink-. That just means more $$$ for Halo! Also more noobs to pwn!
Should outsell all of them put together.
Gaming is much bigger than since Reach, Halo 3, H2 and CE.
I think it’s going to do incredible sales the first week that match around Reach’s performance and may exceed it. Where I think you’ll see Halo 2 sales will be with Halo 5, especially if the campaign has a driving story and a real cliff hanger ending or a powerful story arc. If Multiplayer somehow manages to quell the 3’s 1-50 and competitive itch, as well as Spartan Ops turning out as awesome as it looks, then yeah we’re seeing Halo 4, 5, and 6 as Halo’s return to dominance as the goto titles for the last years of the 360’s market life.

The 360’s got a year or 2 max, it’s definitely not going to be around during Halo 5 or 6.

Halo 2 was a very big release though. I think it was bigger then Halo 3’s but I’m not too sure.

Even if Reach did outsell Halo 3, many of the copies were traded in within a few months after release. Most Halo 3 players still have their copies of that game. I can’t wait to see the population numbers between Halo 3 and Reach when Halo 4 releases. Would love to see Halo 3 remain on the Live charts while Reach never makes it back again.

Halo Reach won’t exist after Halo 4. I’m call that one now. The pop will be let alone a thousand.

I want to note that there is no evidence to back up this claim.
To answer EF DEATHWING’s question: Halo Reach sold more than Halo 3 on its opening night and, in a 2 year period since release, outsold Halo 3 in the same period of time. In regard to overall profits, Halo 3 has still sold more than Reach.

I think it will keep it going for a month or two after Halo 4’s release, but only for people out there who can’t afford Halo 4 at release. Once the holidays come around, it will be officially dead.

True there is no official evidence, but based off of population numbers and overall impressions of the game it’s more than possible.

I have to beg to differ. There are far more explanations for the population drop, ones with evidence to back them up, than just people’s dissatisfaction. For example: Do you think that, if Halo 3 had been released in 2010 instead of 2007, it would have done as well as it did?
larger install base = more sales.
simple math.
I believe it will out sell all of the previous Halo games.

Then 5 and 6 will be the 720’s flagship title and the follow up to secure it’s place under my TV.

I’m curious: what do you mean by Halo 2 sales?
Anyway, On Topic: I just realized I never answered the question presented in the OP: I feel Halo 4 will easily outsell any previous Halo title. What I would like to see is Halo 4 set a new record either for sales on a single platform or, better yet, a record for overall sales (like Halo 3 did).
Reach had the biggest opening out of all other Halo games. Halo 4 will do better im sure of it.
