Halo 4's 'Prestige Mode'

In Halo 4, you have the option of ‘re-enlisting’ in the Infinity Multiplayer suite when you hit max level. What happens when you re-enlist?

  1. You get to ‘specialize’ in a specific style of play. For example, of you’re a vehicle kind of guy, you can re-enlist as a vehicle specialist and receive armor mods exclusive to those specialists.

  2. You receive exclusive emblems each time you re-enlist(First time emblems have been unlockable in Halo).

  3. Exclusive weapon/armor skins for those who re-enlist.

So we have a whole new reason to keep playing and progressing through the levels now. Yes, this may sound like something featured in a certain other game, but this can be good for Halo. It gives us more reasons to level up than just new armor and it’ll be great to finally be known as a specialist in a certain category, giving other players reason to trust you with weapons/vehicles that relate to that particular category.

So every time you reach a tenth rank, you get the option to re-enlist?

I’m pretty sure you can do it ten times in total, and i’m not sure if total amount of levels in Halo 4 has been discussed yet. I don’t think there’s just ten ranks required to re-enlist.

And people still think Halo isn’t copying Call of Duty.

It is copying Call of Duty. But it expands on what COD has done for the better. And the game still plays like Halo, so really, there’s no problem.

We acknowledge that Halo is copying CoD. However, the way I look at it, is that so many other games have copied Halo in the past, so its about time Halo cashed in on all those debts. And it paid off big time. Every feature that was copied, was upgraded and halofied.

Unlike CoD, you actually get something out of re-enlisting, and your rank doesn’t get reset. You can unlock unique armor, skins, and emblems.

Wait wait wait, when was this announced/confirmed?

It’s adopting the feature from COD. After you hit Inheirtor in Reach, theres pretty much nothing else to do. This’ll def add to the replayability of the game because you will gain access to customazation for however you want to play. I know I’ll personally be going into the Vehicle Specialist as I happen to be an excellent Warthog Driver.

The hour-long(and awesome) Comic-Con panel.

I’m not paying to much to all the speculation regarding this aspect just yet. Something tells me whatever this is will undergo its fair share of changes before November. It does sound interesting but there is just not enough hard information for me to get worked up over it.

I guess I really need to start saving money so I can get me a PS3 after this comes out.

I hope there’s an antivehicle role defined…

I watched both released panels and did not hear about this??? Which panel?

Exactly. Halo is taking the few things that make CoD great, and perfecting them.

I’m assuming it’s going to work like this:

After you’ve hit the progession system rank cap (which will likely be pretty low; probably hit the cap in a few weeks of daily playing), you have the OPTION to re-enlist into a specific specialization (which will either reset your rank, or begin going up further). When you do this, you’ll unlock emblems/armor/mods that pertain to this specialization. Each time you re-enlist, you choose a new specialization and unlock more and more stuff until eventually you’ve re-enlisted into everything and earned all unlocks. This will likely take close to a half a year to do. This means, yes, you WILL be kept from some aspects of the game until you’ve earned them, but these are likely very small things.

I don’t understand why everyone is concerned over the little things it borrows from COD. COD actually has very good concepts, but they’re now outdated, and Halo is taking it to the next level, this is a great thing.

I don’t think Specilizations have anything to do with Prestige mode, at all.
