Picard facepalm
It’s rated a 16 (M in the US) for god’s sake!
Wait…are you serious???
Rolls eyes
I’m watching you buddy…
I still never understood why Halo is grouped on the same level as games like Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, etc. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
EDIT: I’m pretty sure the promise of Cortana naked and detailed will probably bring more immature middle school kids into this game, just like how the female armor suit (Not the actual pieces) were as skin-tight on the butt as a pair of yoga pants in Reach. There’s probably still screenshots floating around somewhere…
Yawn
It’s just because it’s “Halo”. We’ve all played T rated games by now that are worse but they can’t be seen dropping Halo’s rating like that.
Im fine with it …
w00t! perhaps my wanting of the chief cursing when he sees guilty spark will come true!
Was this really a surprise? I mean, haven’t all Halos been rated M?
> Was this really a surprise? I mean, haven’t all Halos been rated M?
Halo Wars is rated T, but it was made by a different developer, so…
> Was this really a surprise? I mean, haven’t all Halos been rated M?
I in particular wished there was more reasons for its mature rating. But no, who would be surprised? For the record, Halo 1 technically had a T rating fight before it was released, and Halo Wars was Teen rated.
I just believe Halo should have a little more intense moments, that’s all.
It is probably going to be MA 15+ in Australia.

There is a reason: realistic violence. You don’t need a better reason, and unless you are under-age, you really shouldn’t even care how the game is rated. Halo doesn’t really need excessive violence because such violence doesn’t really give anything to the game. It doesn’t make the game any better.
I never understood why it’s M-rated either…I mean yeah there is blood in it but it’s not over the top like in, Say, Gears of War.
The language is mild. I don’t remember Master Chief or anybody else dropping F bombs.
So if ya ask me, it should at least be rated T for Teen.
But who can question the logic of the ESRB?
> It is probably going to be MA 15+ in Australia.
Yeah, because the AUS rating board hates things with any violence, and they’re getting stricter, but hopefully because the R18 rating is coming as of 1st Jan 2013, they will start being a bit more lenient on games.

Most likely the physics and blood splatter on walls.
ESRB Logic:
“Blood on the walls? Guns that…Shoot? Mother of god… this will turn society insane! Rated M for mature this bit-h right now!”
R16 in New Zealand, every FPS Halo game always has been, with an exception to Reach I think, which from memory is M.

Rating boards have guidelines they need to consider. Halo contains realistic violence and that’s why it has to be given a rating M or PEGI 16. Personally, I don’t really agree with the policies of rating boards. Especially not after the system in my country became so ridiculous that giving products with an age restriction is prohibited by law and is, in theory, punishable (in other words, I could be punished for letting a six year old watch a movie rated for seven year olds). But if I hear a game is getting a rating of PEGI 18 and I know that it doesn’t have enough unsuitable content, I’m not really going to start asking for more violence, -Yoink!-, drugs, strong language, or anything in that matter. In fact, I’m not really going to start asking anything as the ratings don’t really affect me, even though there clearly are flaws in the system (movies, for example, often have much more realistic violence than some games and the games with less violence still gets a higher rating solely because it’s a game).
This is an American rating right??
If it is what will it be rated in Australia?
Cause in Ebgames this is what it says:
Rated M, Science fiction violence; Gaming experience may change online
https://ebgames.com.au/xbox360-157737-Halo-4-Limited-Edition-Xbox-360
This is the description for M in Australia:
Moderate violence, Recommended for mature audiences(Not recommend for under 15s)
so ya…what you guys think?
Is Halo going to remain M in Australia or will it go to MA 15+
Which is: Strong violence, Not suitable for people under 15.
Under 15s must be accompanied by a
parent or adult guardian

I wish 343 would use Halo’s guaranteed M rating and add more realistic language and damage to bodies. Who hasn’t wanted to decapitate someone with an energy sword?
so some of you were hoping halo would be decreased into a T rating? pretty sure it could have in Halo:ce but the flood pushed it into an M rating lawl
