So after looking on the forums and also experiencing the multiplayer myself, this is the list of problems that Halo 4’s multiplayer has.
- Restrictive gametype options
- Less gametypes available to customise (lack of VIP, Juggernaught, Assault, etc)
- Lack of UNSC flying vehicles
- Missing weapons (Plasma rifle and Sticky Launcher for example)
- Spending most of the game with loadout weapons, barely any weapons around the map
- “Killstreak” Ordnance drops instead of weapons being available around the map
- Some forge options are missing (such as the option to place custom power ups)
- Matchmaking not waiting for a full game before starting, or just joining a game in progress causing unbalanced teams and joining games that just about to end (Halo should not be like this at all)
- Less playlists from launch than any other Halo (Reach had at least double the amount of playlists from launch, including SWAT, FFA, Juggernaut, Assault)
- Leveling screen after the game ends doesn’t appear when playing split screen (Reach did however)
- Sprint and Armor Abilities don’t work sometimes after the game resumes after it finds a new host
- Unlocking armor requires you to be online at all times, even if it means unlocking armor via the Campaign
- File share isn’t working at all (I’ve uploaded one screenshot, and according to File share its not even on there, infact there’s no files on File share at all)
- Horrible lag/delay on matchmaking servers most of the time
- No filter options for matchmaking like Reach had (these were very useful)
- Crosshair doesn’t return to the screen immediately after you stop sprinting, it takes a second to appear
If I’m missing some issues, I’ll be happy to add it to the list.
Matchmaking battles are now so dependent on teamwork that it is almost impossible to offset a bad team with good individual play. If it’s you against two other people, you will almost always lose. Also, I’m finding it very difficult to play my usual conservative style. I simply can’t keep a low profile at all. I fire one shot and all hell descends upon me. It was never like that in Reach, although I can’t put my finger on why.
I have a big problem with the Spartan Laser on Ragnarok. It spawns on top mid once and never again. It should always spawn there.

Thanks for your post!
-Agreed
-True, but give them some time
-Who Cares?
-Who Cares?
-I agree weapons should spawn on the map, I’m thinking certain gametypes in the future will make that happen
-Having some randomness is fun for the average player, and it will never be used in any competitive playlists, so the competitive players should be fine
-I can’t comment on Forge, don’t use it
-Couldn’t agree more!
-I think changing up the playlists every week is much better than anything Reach did with playlists.
-You are incorrect, didn’t show in Reach for Split Screen users either
-Hmm, that sucks
-Probably to discourage workarounds
-My Fileshare works fine, there are a lot of server issues though
-Disagree
-To each their own, the system might do that type of thing on its own anyways
-Sprinting has to have consequences
You’re absolutely right. Coordinated teams are impossible to take down now no matter what you do[/un]. There’s much less room for creativity as a result. At least on Reach, you had a chance of killing multiple enemies that descend upon you at once (and it made you feel awesome). Now, you just die, even if those two enemies are significantly crappier than you are.
I’m thinking the grenade’s weaker damage and bullet’s increased damage may be part of the reason for this problem.
