I’m sure by now most people have seen/read the info that has come out from Game Informer, now first of all I’d like to say that most stuff I like, and the rest I will pass judgement on when I have more info…
Anyway the point I want to make is, all this spartan ops and UNSC Infinity stuff isn’t going to keep the game addictive without a ranking system similar to Halo 3’s…
Every game I play that doesn’t have a truly competitve progression system, loses my interest quite quickly. Reach is alright, but I don’t play and think “z0mg can’t lose this game, I’ve almost hit colonel” I think damn, how long before I can buy that shiny visor? X amount of games? Cba? … Similarly in CoD, after awhile I just think, woop I’m prestige x, what’s new?
Halo 3 however had me hooked for 2 solid years, and the online was addictive, fun, and never got old because you always had similarly skilled players pushing you to improve. Halo 4 desperately needs to add this kind of system to have any chance at holding a high population count post launch, does any1 agree?
I like the Halo 3 1-50 skill system, and it would be nice to have something similar in Reach, but make it where you can’t join Ranked games in progress.
Thing is, I love the Halo 3 ranking system, but I also love the Reach system, and I feel they should find a good way to combine these.
I’m not going to say anything about the ranking system besides this, yet, seeing as how we have no idea how it will work.
No 1-50 in the game, from what we’ve seen. Seriously, just think about the state of this game. Almost everything we want is not the game and almost everything we don’t want is.

Only about .002% of the halo population are what you just mentioned.
Reach was terrible, absolutely horrible without 1-50. it feels like cod where if your a total newb you get wrecked by kids who play way too much. Where does that give a new player incentive to play the game more if he/she goes 2-30 every game. it would really put me off honestly.
It’s your choice to ignore it or be like ZOMGZ!! He’s a bought 50! I’m gonna die!!. Get over yourself and ignore it. fake 50’s or fake 40s in H2 existed but it didn’t hinder the overall experience. It only get’s to the people who want to feed into it and make a big ordeal over nothing.
