I was pleased with the way CEA’s Campaign lobby looked at the beginning of the 343 Guilty Spark demo video. Personally, I absolutely despise the Reach lobbies. All the lobby elements are slanted for some reason and it just feels bland and depressing (yes, I’m aware Reach is supposed to be gritty and serious.) It’s far from a big deal, but I hope Halo 4 lobbies look more like Halo 3’s. The lines are well defined, everything is clearly visible and it feels fresh and crisp.
Reach’s is the best!
I always hated reach’s and it took me a while to get used to it but after a while of playing reach and going back to halo 3 it was so horrible. Reach’s must be in halo 4 or an updated version.
I like 3’s better as well, though I don’t find the slanting such a big deal. It’s the background that gets me. Yes, the Reach backgrounds are very pretty, but when I’m in the menu I feel lost. It’s like there’s this whole big world out there and I’m just allowed to see a glimpse of it. With the H3 backgrounds, it felt tighter, more compact. I felt like I knew where I was, and I belonged.
Gah, that sounded way cheesier than I intended. But you get my point, right?
Amazing concept art backgrounds dependent upon which lobby you are in.
Partial service records and Spartan/Elite models immediately visible. (I would have preferred if they showed total # of weekly & daily challenges completed as opposed to daily totals)
Friends playing halo are visible in their own lobbies (like in your Reach Lobby screenshot). I also like how you are able to view “party details” and find out how much time/score is left in your friends game so you know how long you have to wait.
All in all, I like the aesthetic of the Reach menus a lot more than the dull blue of Halo 3. I think ODST menus are somewhere inbetween H3 and Reach.
I always liked the blue colors of Haloes CE, 2 and 3 had, it doesn’t look depressing, but isn’t bad for your eyes either. I’m a big fan of blue in Halo. ODST and Reach lobbies just looked boring, although I would like a Reach style lobby that just had the default color at blue.
One thing I also don’t like in Reach is the background, I like the 3D backgrounds of previous Haloes much better. I hope those make a return in Halo 4. Other than that, I have always wanted the lobby to feel more interactive, that’s the only thing I liked in Reach that you could slide between your Service Record and the lobby, it’s something that should definitely return.
The best case scenario would be a lobby system where you could slide between the lobby, your service record, and possibly your file share. Another option would be having the ability to slide between different lobbies. Anyhow, I just want more sliding.

I kind of disagree. I wouldn’t mind seeing the Active Roster to return in 343i’s games but please bring back pressing the Y button to get to your friends. It’s a nice little shortcut which is great when your friends aren’t playing Halo. Haha

NO, this is what I hated about Halo 3… No, no, no. This is going back in time as well as the outdated Halo 3 lobby. Reach’s lobby layout is brilliant. I never liked it at first but now it is much better than 3’s.

These are my 3 favourite reaons. And also the way it has it saying which lobby you are in, in a quite large font. In Halo 3, you had to go up the top to see which lobby you were in. And it was the select button.
Ha I just wish you could see other people’s fileshares in the lobby… Bungie kind of killed filesharing in my opinon… now it’s just search for whatever comes to mind… or go to the top 50 and see 38 Anime pictures, 2 or 3 funny things, and the rest is just someone trying to be funny and failing hard… then there’s the “epic” screenshots. That’s about it. When everyone sees the same top 50 it’s not the same… when you get 16 people together they aren’t all bringing something to the table because everyone has the same stuff… plus whatever they made themselves… I want filesharing to feel like it did in Halo 3.
