Halo 4's Load-Out & Ranking System Explained!

Hey everyone, Vampyre0422 here! Ok so I am seeing a lot of confusion on the whole aspect of the load-out or “class” system and the ranking system of halo 4 in relation to it being an arena shooter. So I am going to try and help clear the mist.

Halo 4 IS still going to be an arena shooter. In the beginning you are still on an even footing. Everyone starts out with the same rank and same skill level and the same choices for their custom load-outs or “classes” as people are calling them. And as you progress in both rank and skill this new “hidden true-skill ranking system” will pair you with people of similar skill and rank. MEANING that these people will have around the same options of customization as you.

Everyone will still be on an even footing. You will still be in a closed arena. Its what people do with their customization options that provide the variety in the game. It is still an Arena shooter. With class based elements. And this new multiplayer matchmaking searching system will be matching you up with people that have the same options of things to use as you. For example: A brand new player wont get paired with some one who is of high rank and skill who has more options for custom load-outs, creating an advantage for the higher ranked player.

Everyone will have an even footing. Its what people choose to do with their options that provide the variety and excitement. Halo will still be an arena shooter. Its just a new take on arena shooters. And for the purists who refuse to adapt to this new take on arena shooters I kindly remind you that there will be a classic playlist. But I do ask the purists to give this new take on halo a chance. You may be surprised. Hell you might even enjoy it.

Please take into consideration what I have said. Oh and on a separate note, this game will still be competitive, because again this hidden true-skill rank will be visible to you. And you know that this rank will have you paired with similarly ranked people. So if you are so content on people knowing your true-skill rank. Brag about it. THEN PROVE IT. Halo still has competitive elements. It had competitive elements even before there was a ranking system.

No TL:DR. sorry. I don’t do those.

DISCUSS!

Edit: Fixed

I’m not saying the ranking system makes the game competitive. Rather it will give players a competitve mentality and mind set leading to less AFKers, betrayals, and more teamwork.

Also I ask you, What if I am a really bad level 50 who is matched with players who are level 5-10? This system is flawed it assumes that you would be better as you level up.

Unnecessary wall of text was unnecessary. BLARGH

THANK YOU! SOMEONE WHO GETS IT!

it will simply pair you with another not so great level 50. Im not saying that this will be exactly how it works. but this is a more accurate assumption than “halo needs moar trueskill, get rid of all da casuals” and besides the post is more centered around it being an arena shooter. The trueskill thing was just a side note.

> THANK YOU! SOMEONE WHO GETS IT!

if this was directed to me i kindly thank you. if not i ask who it was directed to?

Must resist Great Wall of China joke…

Hey, China called. Seriously though, use paragraphs.

>

obvious troll was obvious. i believe it was a very necessary attempt to clear the communities view on what halo 4 will be. it was neither biased nor nonconstructive. i was simply stating how halo 4 is getting the best of all worlds as far as an arena shooter goes.

Thank you for making it clear!

Okay, dude, just about nobody is gonna’ read that unless you edit that post and press the “enter” button a few times…

I was trolling by making your large wall a group of paragraphs so more people would actually read your post that I happen to agree with? Sorry for helping bro.

sorry. normally i am more organized than this. but i was greatly irritated at all the “dis aint halo no moar. halo needs moar trueskill and moar arena. and les casual” trolls and posters.

Post is fixed. still no TL;DR. simply cuz I dont do those.

Kyler the Ninja - That’s for breaking up the text. :=)

Everyone - Can we get back to topic besides the numerous posts about the great wall of China?

> Thank you for making it clear!

yup yup. I do hope a lot of people take a look at this and see that both sides of this war over halo 4 is both right and wrong. and they just stop fighting over what halo was is and will be.

> Vampyre0422;1293719 - Very good points and it would be nice if people who HAVEN’T PLAYED HALO 4 YET would stop complaining as if the sky is falling. Play the game first, then let’s have some meaningful conversation that could possible benefit everyone. (((Shrugs)))

I must admit I 100% agree with this. I know its the oldest argument ever since the announcement of H4. I am a major supporter of 343i at this point. But the people that are skeptical have very valid points when they arent trolling or bashing. So I feel like one of the in-between people of this war over H4

And yes back to topic at hand please. I fixed my post lets get past the jokes.

I’m confused…
By your definition all class based shooters are arena shooters as everyone always starts on equal footing on day one.

Are you really trying to say the only difference between a class based and arena shooter is a matchmaking service that pairs you to people with like unlocks?

That is just a silly notion.

THAT’S NOT WHAT I AM SAYING AT ALL!! i am saying that just because there are customizable load-outs doesn’t mean that it has lost the arena elements. 343i is taking the elements of arena shooters and evolving them into something new! and yes these new trues-kill system pairs people with similar rank and skill so people are still on an even footing since that is one of the elements of arena shooters, an even footing. other elements involve simple symmetrical maps that the players are closed into, there are many elements of an arena shooter. The custom load-outs just give people options. but everyone has the SAME options.

and custom load-outs =/= class by the way. by that logic you should say reach (an arena shooter, a very good one IMO) is a class shooter. when its not. classes indicate that there is a loadout for say, snipers, and then a loadout for assaulters, and a load out for heavy gunners, and a loadout for cqc, and a load out for engineers, etc. custom loadouts consist of a primary, a secondary (usually a sidearm) a grenade choice, and some sort of tac upgrade that helps you in some form in combat. and in halos case an AA.

Not quite. Reach does not allow you to build your own load-out whereas Halo 4 does. Reach is an arena with class aspects. Halo 4 is a class based shooter with arena aspects.

What does it matter? Both types of games are fun.
