hi!, I’m tamrial147 and I’ve been a fan of halo since it was born

now im just saying…its really not that hard to get dedicated servers so that everybody could have equal playing experience, just saying, the Americans always get host or if there is a bad connection it doesn’t affect them at all, but it makes everybody else lag or experience delay, and the thing that’s even worse is that I swear Americans never sleep so the rest of the world can never EVER enjoy the game to its full potential which is why a lot of halo fans are going back to halo reach, all Americans do is pull host and then say we suck when really we would beat them hands down, I’m not saying that to sound cocky but if it came down to skill we really would beat them …but 343 doesn’t care because Americans come first, and if they defend them selves from that then they aren’t being fair to all those halo fan’s around the world including you and me… does anybody else agree?.

it makes the game very unfair for those truly skilled gamers out there and I know a few that could give the worlds best a run for there money, but they can’t, because the connection is a huge disadvantage

A non american team has never placed top 16 or better at a major Halo tournament on LAN. Americans are better halo players.

As for connection issues, it’s simple numbers. The majority of halo players are american so an american host will create a good connection for the majority of players in the match. If a majority of players in a match are from… say England then an English player should pull host. That is a rare occurance though.

All that being said, dedicated servers are still a good idea.

And as for “American players never get lag”

My only response is:

“Heh, yeah, you just keep thinking that, I’ll just keep laughing about it”

Played a game of SWAT on Ragnarok from Multi-team (really needs to go, it’s spawns are limited) and couldn’t kill anyone, there were no bars next to the names just flat good connection but can’t touch anyone, couldn’t do anything, then I found that when I’m downlaoding items from interwebs I have a better connection than when im not downloading or no one else is on pc, laptop or any other wifi/internet device.

I had a game earlier today where the host was from Mexico, I almost backed out but decided to see if the game would be playable…nope. The lag was so bad I ended up quitting out. I live in the heart of the US and I frequently encounter foreign lag so don’t say we never experience lag here.

I’m in Canada and I experience some delay, even though i have a high speed internet connection that’s probably better than 60% of the US and yet what do you know, lag comes in.

Just implement Dedicated Servers and everything will be fine.

The population is probably too small for anything to change the quality of connection drastically at this point. But there is one thing you can do to improve your connection and get hosts local to you. In the lobby when it’s time to vote for a map, just press X to see the list of players, the person at the top won’t be listed alphabetically like everyone else, because they are the host.

Just check their gamercard for their location, and if they aren’t local enough to you ,or you know you’ll lag on their host, just back out. Obviously this isn’t a perfect system since not everyone has their location on their gamercard, but hey it’s better than nothing, still wish 343 put a regional / good connection search filter though.

You’d think that’s how it would work, but it doesn’t. It really doesn’t.

Americans have better connection than European. That´s why you think they play better

He said over LAN.
But from what I remember (correct me if I’m wrong), most if not all Halo Major LAN Tournaments that feature American players tend to be hosted in the United States.
It’s no surprise that this is the case.
