So there was this article on OXM where OXM talked to Frankie a bit about Halo 4. During the interview Frankie suggested that Halo 4 “may” have movements similar to Brink.
Now before you all dive into how you think Brink is a horrible game and that this would never work, think about it.
If you allowed players to preform a wall jump or slide into/around objects and players, this kinda of thing could speed up gameplay.
For instance instead of the usual crouch jump you could pull together a string of movements such as Sprint, Jump, Wall Jump,(turn) Crouch jump.
Now as long as things like wall climbing are not in for that would slow down gameplay largely, ( you don’t want to have to stop to pull yourself up, that’s just horrible).
As for sliding, it is debatable. When you look at Crysis 2, sliding speeds things up a little but it could also slow things down at the same time if a player is under fire and slides to cover thus delaying kills in a game.
So now putting Brink aside completely, this is something that Halo could use to refresh the gameplay and it would fit well into Halo also. This is something I’ve been hoping for since Halo 2 was announced. As long as none of this hinders you ability to shoot at the same time. EDIT: On a side note, think of Mirrors Edge a bit more mixed with Halo.

As long as its not like GoW. Press A to tuck and roll, press A to hide behind a wall, hold B to run while crouched…
Can you tell I’m not a Gears fan?
I don’t think this is what you are talking about when you say ‘freestyle’ movements.

Ewww no. I know what you mean and the GoW system is trash I feel. But they also do that since there is no jumping and a cover system. Something that completely opposite of Halo. lol
Not multiplayer. I believe he’s referring to the “set piece” action direction that they’re going to be incorporating into Campaign. If you look at the Spring Showcase Vidoc you can see on the screen at some points of the part where chief is dangling down what I think is an elevator shaft and he climbs himself back up a-la first person view. Many action games do this nowadays especially after CoD 4 took that direction in it’s campaign and the Uncharted series was doing amazing work on their set pieces as well.
Gears has a perfect system for what they were trying t accomplish. One of the greatest shooters ever made.

BAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!
In the campaign, maybe this would be okay; more likely in cutscenes. For multiplayer, there are already enough things for the controller’s buttons to do.
I’ll finally be a sliding Ghost if it happens! This is the closest I could get to achieving my one true dream.
I also want to be able to do this but there’s no Evade in campaign.
If it is done right, I think it could work. Wall jumping was fun in Unreal Tournament… and I could see similar features working in Halo.
