As Halo 4 approaches many fans, including myself, begin to anticipate what editions will be made to the game series. This is my personal wants and desires from the forthcoming title, and I hope that you will share your opinions, concerns, comments, and ideas with me, whether positive or negative. I have condensed my ideas for the sake of having enough room to post, but these are by no means all of my ideas and I will most likely post more. Please converse on these and other ideas.
The idea of BR vs DMR has been a well argued conflict by individuals who support both sides of the argument. Myself being a die hard fan of Halo 2, which had the best multiplayer of the series, tend to favor the BR from this game. However, I will admit that the 3 shot burst is a bit troublesome and somewhat wild. Obviously, I do not mean to say that the 3 shots fired from the burst spray in different directions, but they are less precise that the 1 shot counter part of the DMR. I propose that a new type of Battle Rifle be implemented into Halo 4 to solve this problem. The new weapon should contain a 16 round clip, similar to the DMR, and should be capable of killing an enemy player with 4 shots, the forth being a head shot, and 6 normal body shots. This would balance the BR, giving it the ability to kill 4 players before reloading; removing the somewhat wild 3 burst that promotes “b.s.” kills, while still remaining faithful to the original idea of the weapon. This weapon should have the 3x zoom functionality that the DMR possesses, but should have the BR reticule for easier and more understandable aiming. As a side note, the pistol should have a 2x zoom with a 5 headshot killing ability, with 8 body shots and should have a 12 round clip.
For players who were fond of Halo 1, many remember, and love, the original Assault Rifle. It was powerful unlike its counter parts. Since Halo 1, the Assault Rifle has never been the power horse it needs to be. I admit that the original 60 round clip might be a bit much for such a powerful and useful weapon, but there are certainly aspects of this gun that need to be re-introduced. The Assault Rifle in Halo 4 should be reminiscent of the original. The new Assault rifle should have a 48 round clip, and should be about 30 percent more accurate than the original. Other than these two additions, there should be no changes made. This weapon has been effectively abandoned as a useful weapon in previous games, although reach took it a step in the right direction. I do not wish for this weapon to be one that is spawned with, but one that is actually traded for and wanted to be used.
The addition of 32 or possibly even 64 players is also NEEDED. Having 32 players in a match with minimal lag is easy to achieve. Homefront does this easily, why can Halo not? A game type I have come up with dubbed “Fireteam Slayer”, is made up of 4 fireteams of 4 players working together to kill the opposition or accomplish goals/ objectives. Think Battlefield 3. Fireteam members would spawn together and only talk to one another unless using the press talk button. I think this is an interesting idea for Halo and could be a new and fun addition for hard core gamers. With the addition of 32 players, more transport vehicles should be implemented. I personally enjoy the idea of using a pelican to tactically insert team members where they are needed. Also bigger, yet not less intriguing, maps are needed.
Equipment / Armor abilities also need to be redesigned. All equipment should be picked up on the map in the style that Halo 3 promoted, but they need to be less dull in the style that Reach promoted. A short list of ideas I have for Tertiary equipment include:
Active Camo (Picked up and used once at any time)
Overshield
Instant power drain (Shoulder mounted weapon fired at enemy to instantly drain his or her shields, has 4 uses before running out.)
Two way mobile teleporter nodes (picked up as one unit but placed as two, allowing a two way teleportation path in any chosen locations)
Revive Device (Like battlefield’s revive paddles, used to revive teammates, or, if deployed, acts as a healing station)
Trip Mine (Stuck in the ground, much smaller but much more powerful than the Halo 3 version.)
Radar (Much more effective than past counterparts, notifies user when someone is near it.)
Sentry (Automated turret seen in the Halo 3 campaign, but far more powerful)
Deployable Turret (Halo 2’s deployable turret from campaign)
Bubble Shield
ETC
The campaign needs to be told from multiple character perspectives like Halo 2, and should be at least 15 levels long if not more.
Also, a map maker should be implemented that will be used on the computer to import maps to Halo 4
I’m sure that I have missed many of my own ideas and, like I said, I will most likely update this. So, please drop me ideas of your own and opinions on what I have posted. Thanks.
