So I made this post about what Halo 4 should have added, changed or kept from past Halo games over at a website called “Reddit”. The Halo community over there has comes up with some good ideas (I think anyway) that could really add to Halo 4.
The post on Reddit can be found here, and this post is still has members post on it, so it is continuing to grow. It was suggested that this be posted on the forums so we could have even more input from the Halo community to try and make a true, good old Halo experience (don’t get me wrong, Reach did have some great moments and ideas, but it didn’t feel quiet like ‘Halo’).
Now I know 343i may not read, or even listen to these ideas, but at least the Halo community can try to become more vocal about what we want to see.
So please, comment on what you want added, changed, or kept from past Halo games.
Huzzah.
This need to get a lot of attention. Let’s get as many people as possible to post in this thread and hopefully one of the higher ups will see it.
Thank you for posting this.
I think it’s crucial that 343 listen carefully to the community on this one and revert back to how Halo 3 was. I’ve already heard a lot of people say that if Halo 4 is anything like reach that they are done with the Halo series. As shameful and hard as it is to admit, I’m starting to feel the same.
At least no matter what happens we still have Halo 3.

The credit system has me torn. I do like the idea of it, but using it to level requires little, to no skill. Sure you get more credits for playing well, but it doesn’t determine true skill. It has been suggested on the post that I linked, to have the credit system to level up, but also have ranks to determine how good a player is, on a scale between 1-50 or so.
Bungie listened to the community, just see how that worked. The community is a very varieted group of people with different opinions on what makes a good halo game. Everyone can not be satisfied, and those who are not, have the tendency to cry loudest.

I agree. The credit system was a nice idea but it wasn’t a ranking system in the least. Just a means to get armor. Don’t you remember the feeling of accomplishment you got in Halo 3 by finding all the skulls or getting certain achievements? Remember how riled the community was just to get that sweet sweet Recon armor. Everyone went to great lengths to try and get it too. That in itself made the community so large and fun.

I totally 117% agree on your idea for credits and leveling up. Even though two rank systems could get confusing…

This is also true, they can’t please everyone. To be fair I don’t think people were screaming ‘ADD BLOOM TO EVERY PLAYLIST’ in Halo 3. They took some input from the community but the mostly tried to change whatever they could while trying to keep it feeling like Halo. In my opinion it just didn’t work.
In an unrelated note I just remembered what my friend said in regard to the Reach engine that made me chuckle:
‘I mean… I get that you’re a Spartan 3 so you’re smaller and most vulnerable than the Spartan 2s, but come on! I feel like a friggin’ Lego piece in a world of Mega blocks.’
They have to i repeat HAVE TO keep some form of credit system for the casual player AND to the ranking system for Competitive they have to, there is a middle ground and its simple i dont understand why it has to be either one or the other it doesn’t have to be.
Maybe is casual keep an under lying form of true skill that isn’t visible for those who dont want it all be about skill. And give a fine tuned credit system for the rank playlists for better credits for the better players.
Be friend with both side of the issue i Understand each side want to be represent Competitive player want to halo 2/3 style back, where as casual player want something for then be sides just games the want to be rewarded to, for there time and woke toward play more and getting better but done want to be hindered by skill focused players.

A very good point. It needs to be fair to both sides of the community. Halo 3’s social was aimed toward casual gamer but I guess it didn’t give them much variety.

Almost none plus if these social player wanted to earn armor and other things they had to play ranked just to get there butt kick because half there team dropped out(because they didn’t like the map/game type) and drop a rank. this is what frustrated my friends and i the most. i like how it matches you with people with your same skill level(to and extent. I played the other day and it was terrible) I understand it because the low level of people playing. lol. but if they work towards a middle ground for both styles would be perfect.

I went AFK for a test then when I came back I had no kills but, somehow I gained 2K credits
I like all of those. The only one that is asking for too much is the one where you ask for " larger games of 2-3 teams of 10 people". The games would not run nearly as smooth. Well…Mabey considering BF3.

I know it is far out there, but I have wanted large scales battles in Halo since I first played Halo Wars. Massive teams going against each other, with vehicles over head, and rolling along beside you, seems like the perfect (for me anyway) playlist/gametype.
