Is a quote from some 343i vidoc and I don’t remember/care which one it was. How could they say that when the progression system is so easy to max out in? I’ve been SR130 for two days now, an I’m already bored. Even though I don’t think rank is any indicator of skill, they should have at least made it go up to like 400. I mean, common if you’re going to have xp based system at least make it take a while. I can only play for “fun” now, and since ll the weapons are so OP in H4, it’s hard to do hat. Even when CSR comes out, it’s only going to be a glorified BPR. Thus, my once favorite franchise inn gaming is now giving me hardly anything to do. Custom games are wrecked, population is awful, the game is unbalanced, I really don’t know what to make of. H4 anymore. So, are you guys in a similar rut?
If you can’t play games for the fun of it why are you playing to begin with?
Relax, CSR will have a fresh rank for you to grind out. There are also 100% achievements for the completionist in you too.
I just love your complaint…I played the game so much I maxed it all out, can I have have some more numbers doing the same thing so I can perceive more fun for myself.
I don’t mean to laugh at you but seriously there is nothing wrong with just having fun when playing a video game.
There’s still commendations to master. While not as difficult as Reach’s*, they will take some time fully complete.
I’ve been 130 for a little while and I’m still finding this game to be fun. The progression system is one of many things holding my attention with this game.
*Aside from Plasma Pistol kills, and Mongoose kills
Reach’s max: 20,000,000
4’s max: 3,500,000
Reach’s Daily Challenges: around 2,000 ~ 3,000
4’s Daily Challenges: 5,000 ~ 6,000
I think the challenge payouts should be switched.

I know (and I’m happy to make anyone laugh
it’s just getting dull and repetitive.) but when their is a mini shotgun, and mini sniper in loadouts, it’s hard to have a skillful match. I try to have fun, but 343 is just mismanaging and all that stuff.
That could have been true if they left in a local only search filter. Seriously, I don’t think I’ve even reached a days worth of multiplayer game time.

You got that right about the mini shotgun known as hr bolt shot gun and the dmr being little OP. There just isn’t balance in Halo 4 for fun and competitive games and no ranks to keep the game alive and being a challenge for everyone.

I agree the boltshot needs tweaking e.g. range nerf to melee range only.
I love the DMR, especially with sprint in the game. I could go a 1-3% rate of fire nerf or a 2.5 scope nerf but not just for the sake of returning yet another Halo game to BR dominance. I’m over the BR thanks.
I’ve posts similar before but even the boltshot has so many counters it’s really not as bad as some make it out to be. Also you can play CTF for example and boltshot really isn’t that present, more a slayer trait.
Counters to boltshot, none of which even require the use of a boltshot yourself:
- Hologram fake out
- Team melee
- Grenade flush out
- Avoid by using PV
- Power weapons like rockets
- Evade using awareness skills
- PP + melee if you have a decent connection or host
- AR/Suppressor/storm rifle spray to expose camo/boltshot user
- Listening to your team mates call out position of camo/boltshot user
- Jetpack counter or evade
Of course you can always just use blotshot as a counter too.

I’ve been finding player matching better in the last month than the first two months. I played 4 games of SPOPS last week and all matched me with other Aussies with me going in as a random.
They do need a party up feature for SPOPS matchmaking though.
I’ve been sr130 for a month, I have all the achievements and I’m still having fun with the game. I go for commendations, try new weapons out, and play with my friends and we have a blast! You just have to be more creative with the game and don’t focus too much on your k/d or population. It’s not as fun as Reach in my opinion but still good.

You do realize that whatever the hell is in ViDoc’s, Panel Q&A’s or whatever media source you happened to get your hands on is a lot of times just a gimmick to promote their product. Here’s the hardcore truth:
The product is ALWAYS different from what they say.
They said that Reach was the definitive Halo Game in one of their ViDoc’s, this is probably just a tool to get people drawn into the game.
They said that Halo 4’s servers are good enough in one of their Q&A Panel’s, this is obviously not the case.
Business is business, even if it means the outcome is never fair.
Developers drumming up hype for their game? Can’t imagine why.
But yeah, I do agree that this game lacks a lot of charm that the other games had. Then again, I haven’t been in a decent custom game match in… ever, so if someone wants to point me to people who still do that, I’d love you.
I played halo 2 All the way until halo 3 came out, I played halo 3 all the way until halo reach came out, I played Halo reach all the way until Halo 4 came out. After 2 months of Halo 4 I could no longer play. The spirit was willing, I like the game, but the lack of good connection searching means Australians have no to put up with laggy games or move on. I am one of many that has moved on.

So what? Criticism is fine and I certainly feel for your connection issues but to the point of “will this game be played for years?” what does your or my or anyone else’s decision to play other things really mean? Are we really expecting people to approach Halo the same hyper-obsessive way one may for an MMO? Did you play Halo 1 that way, or even Halo 2? Sure you may have played both of those games for years but that meant something very different than it does now.
tbh i liked the game BETTER AS A 130. seriously whatever happening to playing the game just to play it rather than welp im max rank time to quit?
Personally I play to try and have fun, while trying to get better at the game.
Spartan Ops, New missions, New Story, New Environments. Campaign on Mythic, Commendations, Armor Unlocks, Weekly Updates with playlist rotations, custom games with friends, forge mode, TU coming soon, Ranking system coming soon, New DLC, Community maps/game modes.
And people say there IS nothing to do.

Yep, my Xbox has always been pretty much a Halo playing device that happens to play other games. I have a very close friendship group within Halo, we talk and text all the time and we’re attending Pax Australia this year together. Over the last decade we’ve forged tight friendships on the Halo battlefield. Simply pit, Halo was our bar, a place we gathered to compete, to talk heart to heart, to laugh, to forge, to relax. A place like Cheers or Moes tavern. Where you always had your mates online to hang out with.
Now the Aussie population has been gutted, our little community has been fractured. To further the analogy, the bar has been closed down. We are displaced, we have no more place to hang. We’re looking, we’re trying other games. We check back often to check if there’s news of adding a good connection feature. But mainly we’re looking elsewhere, waiting for another bar to open up where we can hang out. Maybe Bungie’s new game. Who knows
I play Reach everyday and I’ve been an Inheritor for over 6 months. I can’t remember what my rank is on 4.

This is the best post ever.
Well… I for one will be playing this game for years because I enjoy it (probably even more so after TU) not because of some meaningless progressive number next to my name.
But if that’s what makes the game fun for you then fair enough I suppose.
