i understand that bungie no longer owns the rights to anything halo. however i like the idea of master chief coming back in a brand new game. and if its going to be a new triliogy, i dont really want it to be associated with the original halos. i mean ill completely understand if they are just calling it halo 4 right now and are going to change the title in the next year. which i bet they will, however i am getting off topic here. my question to you forum is, now that we know master chief is in new game, what do you think the appropriate title should be for this new game. i say stick with the halo part but give it a different sub title. DISCUSS!
It’s a direct continuation of the Halo Trilogy. Plus there have been a good number of people who haven’t been getting the games since Halo 3 because they are “just side games”. It’s a good business move to name it Halo 4.
I realized this awhile ago but every name in the Halo series is plain and simple, jackal, elite, brute, ghost, warthog, halo, forerunners, it’s just how they roll, it gives you all you need to understand and simply describe and not beat around the bush. Did you want like a wordy title? because in my opinion that just seems anti-Halo. It’s always been simple and to the point.
Sure, why not call it HALO: FOUR… It IS different from Halo:4. just have an announcer say it really loud and clear at the main menu… like soul calibur.
It could just be a working title, there is a long time before release.
Halo is meant to be about the Halo Array, and not anything else.
They should name it “The Master Chief Chronicles”.

Anyway, who’s to say that we won’t see another Halo ring in H4? By now we’ve only been to two of the seven rings and managed to destroy only one so far … but that one twice.
Come to think of it, if it takes a trilogy each to completely deal with one Halo installation, we’re looking forward to six more trilogies. 18 more games to come, not counting spin-offs. And if they bring out one game every two years, I’ll be 71 when the last part of the final trilogy is released. ^^

if a theory i have considered, along with quite a few other people, is possible. that the new enemy will be the forrunners, or atleast thier mechanical legacy and the storyline will be rather forrunner oriented, why not call it ‘HALO 4: ORIGINS’
as for the use of HALO in the title, doesnt mean there has to be another ring, just that it is set in the same fictional universe.

Uhm whaT? You dont want Halo 4 to be associated with the other Halos? I dont know if youve heard or not but its Halo 4 for a reason. It continues where Halo 3 left off.

There were 12 HALO rings constructed. One hijacked by the Master-Builder. That and four others were lost, seven were used by the Forerunners. MC destroyed two and an additional one under construction. There’s 10 Halo rings spread through out our galaxy. Thats a lot of Halo rings.
Im thinking beyond that portal door is the Master-Builder and his own personal HALO device.
Other than that, I believe the numerical sequence indicates the story line of the Master Chief and his involvement in the Halo saga as this all is boiling down the legacy left to humans (and possibly MC personally) by the Forerunners.

In that same great ending it showed them drifting off towards another “planet.” It was suppose to be a kind of cliffhanger and we all knew that there was going to be a Halo 4 way back in '07. Also, why are you blaming 343? Bungie put it in there in the first place, and Microsoft is not stupid enough to get rid of the main Halo brand name. Why would you want to differentiate it? It’s a continuation, not a separate story.

I think the name will be changed from Halo4 to Halo 4 <see, there is a space between Halo and 4 in the new name
It’s Master Chief’s story. Games with him should always be direct squeals.

Halo 4 is a direct sequel to Halo 3. Naming it something different, even if it is a new trilogy, might get confusing. Different names are for spin-offs, like Wars and Reach.
Besides, isn’t it much easier to follow a trilogy if they’re named after numbers? I’d find it easier to look up Halo 4 than Halo: Reclaimer or something. Much easier to say Halo 4, 5, and 6 than Halo: Reclaimer, Halo: Forerunner, and Halo: Precursor. (Just example names).
