Halo 4: Why Are Elites Enemies Again?

I can’t help being annoyed as to why in Halo 4, the Elites are enemies again. Trailers, talks, screen-shots. Why? Of course halo 4 is set 4 years after halo 3 ends. In between that time the Human vs Covenant war was over but the Elite vs Covenant war began. The Elites were losing in troops and vehicles because the Covenant had all the forerunner technology and still believed in ‘The Great Journey’ but with their leader ship screwed up even more caused the Brutes to fight among themselves. But that still doesn’t help explain why the Elites are your enemies in halo 4!

I Strongly believe some kept their truce with the humans Because look at this:

It’s about a ship master roaming around the planet of HALO WARS, 6 years after halo 3( so to him it’s 2559) Set just 2 years after halo 4! And he’s trying to find a sign of hope or purpose feeling guilty for what he had done and… well you’ll find out soon enough.
(Yes he is still against the covenant and -Yoink!- a human in the end)

And if you still don’t understand his story. Then why not watch it?
it comes in 2 parts but some people divided it into 4 parts.
Part 1/2:

Part 2/2:

There will always be groups attempting to fight the humans. Even if the Elites and humanity were suddenly best friends, we would still be fighting rebels and such.

Let me ask you something are you allowed to have opinions and make choices? I mean from what you are saying is well if a certain group of elites are now allies then all must be. I mean use some logic here not everyone will have same thoughts. Unless you are calling elites stupid and can not think for them selves. One other thing to lets say that these elites do not know about the end of the war or what happened, I doubt there exist a communication device that updates all elites.

well we dont know yet, but seeds are being planted that will cause the humans and elites to possibly be enemies again in “Glasslands.” i believe that this book is set at least a year before Halo 4 and 343 has said that major influences on the story in H4 come from the Forunner trilogy and the Kilo Five trilogy of which Glasslands is the first book in.

The truce made by 1 faction of Elite does not dispell with 30 years of genocide. There was always going to be those who hated us, and always those who still hold to their blind faith.

OP - Diversity is both a great thing… and a terrible curse. There will always be factions which stand up and say, “I’m right, your wrong, and I’ll kill you for it” which is exactly what the former covenant factions now have to face up to. Either way, elites are our enemies because the very leaders they believed in are gone and they don’t know what to do… except kill the guy who killed their leaders of course.

I like Coffee, does that mean everyone else is going to like Coffee?

Some Covies are allies with the humans, some are not.

It’s realism, not everybody is going to have the same view on things.

Mainstream Elites are at war with Brutes.

The faction in H4 is seeking answers.

Is it a bad thing if Elites are finally seeking the answers themselves after having been lied to for so long? It is my belief that the Covies in H4 will reconcile with humanity.

So, I would like to point out, that in the mission “Dawn” in Halo 4, Master Chief ask/says to Cortana… “These Covenant seem more fanatical then the ones we fought before.” The definition for fanatical is “obsessively obsessed with something.” So it seems Sliding Ghost’s theory could be plausible, as these Elites don’t look the same as the others in Halo 1,2, and 3… but that could be the graphics revamped for Xbox one purposes,or343 is just screwing around with the Elite armor, otherwise, why would Elites and Grunts be all the way near Requiem and not with the Shipmaster and the Arbiter? Sorry to bore you with this insanely long paragraph, was just on my mind, and i need it out.

The cowardly elites that run away when you shoot them to much…

Because a second alliance covenant has been made.

Yep. Arbiter’s Elites worked alongside humanity, but it wasn’t everyone in the Sangehili race…there was a group of Elites that still despised the humans.

The Elites in Halo 4 are actually a faction that is fighting against the Arbiter to reform the old Covenant. They are under the command of Jul 'Mdama. The Spartan Ops missions expands upon his campaign and reasons.

We are not fighting that same covenant from Halo: Reach to Halo 3. There was a faction called the Storm Covenant that we encountered in Halo 4 while the group in Halo 3 were the covenant separatist.

Thel 'Vadam’s faction is kown as the Swords of Sanghelios, just to clarify.

Glad we got this cleared up in a timely manner. It’s only been 3 years since the OP.

dunno

In terms of gameplay it was either elites and prometheans or just prometheans

Mostly Prometheans/Forerunners than Covenant that you face in Halo 4. Also when there are knights in campaign at certain parts, there are no elites. I did imagine that however.

How are there so many elites that still hate humanity?
