Same here, I always play on normal first so I can get a good grip on the game and how it feels, marvel at the story and graphics, and get a good idea of how powerful certain weapons are now.
Then I move on to matchmaking where I will test out my skills against other players, and see how I compare in Halo 4 while testing out a few of the new and old weapons.
Then I go on to play some Spartan Ops, and begin my Heroic or Legendary playthrough of Halo 4 campaign afterwards, but those Prometheans look like their going to be -Yoinks- to kill, so I might just try it on Heroic first.
I’m going to be one of the first to complete the game solo legendary…
Normal first for the story, THEN I play some solo Legendary. I think I’m gonna cry this time around, those Knights are going to be a -Yoink-

That’s implying Legendary is actually difficult 
I’m not sure… I played Reach Legendary solo day one and I kinda regret it. It makes the game more of a pain than anything. I’d rather casually enjoy the game on normal then hit it Legendary solo. I’ll probably finish it on normal day one then Legendary within the following week.

I feel I can enjoy the depth of the story more when it’s actually difficult to kill that thing that all your allies are calling hard to kill.

Well, in chief’s defense, he’s a SPARTAN-II freaking super soldier who’s been genetically enhanced…
Nah, I’m gonna do my usual Heroic playthrough for the first time around. It’s the way Halo is meant to be played : not to hard, so I can enjoy the story, graphics and environments, but it offers a nice challenge that will keep me thinking on my feet.
Legendary will be for my second playthrough, of course, since that’s once again what I always do. Easy? Never ever going to touch it. Normal? Perhaps if I’m looking for an Easter Egg, but even then I’ll most likely go Heroic anyway.
Since halo 2 I have done my first play through on legendary and will do thebsame for halo 4. Wish they would make an achievement for mythic.

Sir, the bullets aren’t genetically enhanced. Only he is.
It might be Halo 2 status in terms of Legendary difficulty or Halo: Reach status. There’s no telling…
So, it’s best to not run headfirst into rage ^.^
