Halo 4: what's in store?

Guys…343i has assembled an all-star development team. They are stacked. This game is either a hit or miss for them and they know it. If anything about the game falls away from what is “core” about the Halo we know, its over for them. If the first game of the new trilogy blows, who’s going to buy the other two? Im not. They know they have to come out of the gate swinging, with that being said 343i cannot make a “casual game” why? Bc Halo is not a casual game. Reach tried to be casual and look what happened to it. It’s horrible. No one plays it and many fans, causuals, and hardcore gamers alike were pushed away from the franchise. To the big ugly troll who wants to disect this post; claiming “Reach is compedative herpaderp derp!”, Please go somewhere else. The facts are in the Numbers. MLG disklikes Reach on the circut thats fact, heres a video for thy troll Halo is dying MLG CEO MLG CEO: Halo is DyingThis is the CEO of MLG talking…need I say more. Reach is NOT, NOT, NOT a competitive game. There is 0 incentive for winning, and the game mechanics are tailored to fit the casual. Stop crying and defending Reach, it was a bad game and a lot of people know it.

343i has said that they are hoping to go back to what made Halo 3 so amazing, here’s a link for thy Trollis Maximus Link Bottom line is that a Casual gamer will play a competitive game and enjoy it. We know this from COD. Hardcores may play and enjoy COD, but its lifespan is relatively short because it is so casual. Hardcore gamers will not enjoy a casual game, they want a competitive game. Casuals will enjoy the Yoink! out of a competitve game. Halo does a great job at giving both sides their own playing field, example: social and ranked playlist.

Ill finish up here and say that 343i is not going to make a game similar to Reach. Reach was a fail in many aspects. They will make a game similar to Halo 4. In doing so I truly think they Must follow the core gameplay seen in CE-3 if they want this game to be successful. NO AA’s, NO bloom, better maps (remakes of classics), new weapons and vehicles, better tighter gameplay, and of course all of 343i’s creativity and innovation. Trolls…I invite you to argue with this post. I shall slaughter thee.

I’m not going to say that Reach was bad, but it was the least memorable. I just can’t see 343 doing the same thing or worse.

I think that the setting in Halo 4 itself is enough to make the game a 100x better than Reach. I got bored of all the man-made environments in multiplayer and campaign. I’m really excited to see all of the alien structures and environments again like all of the other Halo games.

I agree with you there. The setting does give a more sci-fi feel. Something that most or rather all fans have become used to in the franchise.

Oh no, Halo is dying in the MLG circuit!

Like anyone with a brain and/or a life actually cares about “MLG” In a few years you won’t even see console games at events anymore, it’s gonna be all strategy based PC games.

While I agree with your post to an extent, like when you say that Halo should be more competitive, and that’s what made MM or multiplayer so great- everyone on a level playing field, and a great weapon and health system, Reach was not a horrible game. I admit, I find myself not trying as much when I play, but if you do really try, it will push others to as well, and it can make for a pretty good game.

Reach is mroe casual, but it’s not a horrible game, good grief, I’m sick of people saying this. It brought amazing graphics and textures, better enemy AI (in some ways), balanced multiplayer and weapons, AA’s unbalanced it a bit more, allowed for a different style of gameplay apart from what we’ve seen for so many years in the past, and brought in a new story and characters that were all memorable. Bungie worked their butts to make this game, and the fans have been pretty disgraceful in my opinion.

And as for the MLG CEO saying this- “Halo is dying.” My butt. It’s growing, and it’s never been a bigger franchise, what’s dying is his elitist gaming business that promotes extreme competition when some people just want to have fun when they play Halo. I’m sorry, “Halo is dying,” no, he’s all mad because he’s losing money because Reach is more casual, and so MLG isn’t playing a big a role as it used to. Get over it. Halo isn’t dying, how dare he say that.

May the lords bless that article.

What made Halo 3 so amazing?

Consistency (not as much as CE though), art style, music, encounters, and dedication (not that much though). A dedicated community and dedicated company. So what we can expect for Halo 4 is to have fair and balanced gameplay, breathtaking scenery, awesome music, top notch encounters, a much better fanbase, and a company that knows their Halo and offers a day of fun (H3 Bungie Days).

I agree with what youre saying. I think the CEO was reffering more so to the current state of Halo though, not Halo as a whole.

I just think that 343i should follow up on what made the original trilogy so amazing and with that they should add their own flavor and innovation. I think we all want this game to be great, This is just as much the communities game as it is 343’s and I think the recognize that Halo wouldnt be what it is today without its massively dedicated community. I also think Reach was a good game, but it was less memorable than the others and its MP wasn’t nearly as succesful. Im hoping 343 takes all this into account when making this game.

What consistency? BR bullet spread where you had to hope you could actually kill somebody with a few shots, esspecially when the game had horrible connections to Live?

And what art style? The over the top colorful, “drawn by kids with a crayon” thing that really didn’t help selling the point that this was the last struggle to safe Earth from falling?

Music in any Halo game has been top notch, even in Wars. And the encounters in Reach are no less exiting than they were in H3. I do hand it to you in the dedication part. With Reach you could tell Bungie wanted to make something cool but was already on their next new project with heart and soul.

And that fanbase? Won’t get it back. That fanbase was mainly made up from mainstream gamers who’se focus has now shifted to CoD.

I’m not bashing you, but H3 really wasn’t the pinnacle of Halo as some of you guys make it look like. And H4 definately shouldn’t go back to what H3 did.

I don’t think we should tell them whether to add bloom, whatever, etc. Until we get a beta or a trailer. But, there are things 343 does need to fix. But I trust them enough to do it.
