Halo 4 Warthog is "more reliable"

Looks like the Warthog got some love!

> Hop into the driving seat of the Warthog and you might notice that Halo’s signature method of wild joyriding has become a little more, dare we say it, reliable. It’s a subtle difference compared to previous games, but it did seem like the Warthog in Halo 4 feels less floaty and squirrely. It’s not the sort of change that everyone is going to pick up on, but it did feel like the Warthog has had some modest tuning upgrades applied to it in the ol’ UNSC auto garage.

So the warthog is easier to drive?

Thank goodness, I’m a terrible driver

I was wondering how the Warthog (and other vehicles) would handle compared to past games. If you play Halo 3 and then play Reach, you can see a very definite difference in how the Warthogs handle and feel in those two games.

Quoting someone else who has also played Halo 4, “Vehicles feel less floaty and very ‘sturdy’”.

Feeling sturdy is definitely a good thing. Whenever i hop in a Warthog in Reach, i do feel like i’m just getting into a rolling deathtrap.

I kinda liked the floaty feeling of the Warthog though. It was different to any other vehicle, and it required a special kind of skill to be really good with it. If it becomes just like a car from a racing game, i’ll be more than a little disappointed.

Big time! Halo 3 warthog could take a hard turn without flipping over and an explosion wouldn’t send it flying unless it was powerfull enough.

Hooray! No more flipping when I hit a pebble!

if you where a good driver you could stop yourself rolling or atleast control the roll so you came back onto your wheels

Hopefully this means less air time when going over a small bump which meant getting flipped from DMR fire far too easy. So this makes it sound it has more mass which is what it really needed.

Now all we need is proper armour, not recycled carboard and I’ll be happy. That’s what I’m interested the most is the health mechanics of the hog.

The Warthog felt fine in Halo 2 and Halo 3. It wasn’t “floaty” or “squirrely” at all. It was very reliable. It was, however, “squirrely” in Reach, and terribly “floaty” in CE. I hope the Halo 4 Warthog is as solid as the Halo 2 and Halo 3 Warthogs.

‘Sturdy’ immediately brings to my mind the CE hog.

H2 hog: took away the bumpiness, fast exiting, splatter potential, and speed. Other than that, it was ok.
H3 hog: continuing from the H2 hog, it flipped more often, but not as much flipping as the Reach hog
Reach hog: nerfed like hell. It’s not just the fact that the troopers have no brains but the thing itself is pathetic.

Well this is good news.

I just want the Warthog to actually be useful, I know the sniper is powerful but there was simply no reason a Warthog should be destroyed by one as in Reach.

As long as it still feels nimble like a Hog then I’m ok with it being grounded. I’m sure some of the dedicated Hog drivers out there might feel differently though.

Still dislike the way the new Hog looks. It just looks ugly especially with the needless redesigned suspension… its strange that so many things haven’t been redesigned and some things have. I’m not sure how 343i have been making those calls… but its really weird.

Chief, Warthog, Spartans, BR, DMR, Elites, Grunts… radical redesign.

Scorpion, Phantom, Ghost, Falcon, AR, PP, Needler, Shotgun, Scout helmet, Frigates… no radical redesign.

This makes me very happy indeed. I noticed in the War Games footage when the 'hog landed a significant jump and reacted like it should - it landed with a thump and just carried on, no Bouncy-Bouncy Flippy-Flippy stuff. I am so hyped for the vehicle combat in this game!

I’m down with that…The warthog is supposed to be a powerful vehicle and is supposed to drive like one not akin to a toy truck

As long as I don’t do three flips in a warthog from an explosion that happens near me, i’ll be happy.

Well… http://youtu.be/hbZ3FlcNGpU

So I can’t go sneeze on a 'hog and have it fly away anymore? :frowning:

Sweet!!!

In Big Team Battle, I average 20+ assists from driving! This is gonna be great!
