I’ll begin by saying that Halo 4 is an amazing game. There are very few games that offer the amount of gameplay that this one has to offer and especially a story line with such deep back story that makes it an amazing experience through and through. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the multiplayer. At its core, the multiplayer is fun but since the majority of the mechanics in multiplayer are broken, its difficult to enjoy.
Let’s start with the DMR, this I consider to be a power weapon in Halo 4 is a ridiculous weapon. The bloom on this gun has literally no effect on accuracy what so ever. I remember reading about the firing rate for the DMR being lowered by .2 seconds and yes that is small but I haven’t noticed any difference since launch with the gun seeing as it still dominates every other starting weapon in the game as long as they are “accurate”. I think a good fix would probably be another .2 second firing rate drop or add more bloom since the bloom it has at the time is a joke.
I really wish the Carbine actually was useful in this game, I really miss those H2 and H3 days of the weapon actually having the capability of getting normal kills with since it’s so underpowered in H4.
The Scattershot…. Quite possibly the most INCONSISTENT weapon known in Halo history. I’ve used the gun plenty and the one good thing I can say about it is that this gun is not repetitive…. due to the fact that I can never tell if it will kill the person I’m point blank with. The Scattershot it can kill people 5 feet away but at other times, not when the barrel is touching their chest which is very frustrating.
Boltshot… Hm let’s create a one shot weapon that has a longer range than the Scattershot and the Shotgun… I’ll be straight forward; Are You Stupid? This gun is utterly and COMPLETELY ridiculous. I honestly can’t imagine what 343 was thinking when they created this gun or just the fact that they simply weren’t thinking at all.
The Plasma Pistol I wouldn’t say is over powered PvP but with vehicles it’s a different story. Since players can freely spawn with this pistol makes them a vehicle destruction god with no effort. Any player can simply create a class specifically made for destroying vehicles which eliminates the point of vehicles since anyone can simply choose that load out which is a HUGE PROBLEM due to creating load outs and the game types themselves. This is one big reason I hate Infinity Slayer due to the fact I can’t stop the enemy team from using it since they have to pick it up.
The Pistol isn’t that bad at all, only complaint I have is the auto-aim which makes the bloom seem like it isn’t there that often.
The melee is just frustrating, I’ll melee people at times and it won’t even register that I had hit them. Plus the melee range needs to be extended because sometimes I’ll literally almost be touching the other player and my Spartan won’t lunge.
Assassinations are a HUGE plus for me in Halo because I love pulling cinematic kills on players while they watch stab them in the back of the head. I love all the assassinations in the game besides points where players would somehow pop out of the assassination when I’m about the stab them in the cinematic so there’s a little fix that needs to be done.
The Assault Rifle is OP of course and should be slightly lowered in damage since it barely does less damage than the SAW, not too much to say about that. The Repeater is the worst weapon in the game unfortunately due to its lack in damage I hardly see anyone ever using it.
GRENADES! I cannot express how much I hate grenades in this game. You set out to make grenades less powerful then Reaches? Oh… well sorry to inform you 343, H4 is more of a grenade fest then Halo Reach was!!! Here’s another great idea, let’s add a perk for extra carrying capacity and radius of grenades… One of the most idiotic decisions in the game.
And of course this game has typical Halo spawning moments where enemies will spawn next to me or the guy I killed will instantly spawn before my shields are up and proceeds to headshot me before they even have a chance to recharge.
Oh and plasma grenades… Holy mother of god please remove the auto aim from these little pocket nukes, I can’t even express how many noobs in this game will just sprint up to you and stick with no effort needed.
Slowing down while sprint was also a very poor decision so when I’m getting doubled or triple teamed I definitely can’t retreat due to this effect.
The Sniper Rifle, Beam Rifle, and Binary Rifle should definitely be zoomed out when shot due to their ability to 1 shot kill players which brings me to the zooming in on other guns as well. 343 stated that when getting shot while zoomed and being thrown out of zoom was disorienting… I disagree; I’ve been playing Halo for years and have never had a problem with it. I wouldn’t mind if they made a playlist that had this to test it out and see how we like it.
Flinching… needs… to be removed. An incredibly annoying H4 mechanic. 343 next time please ask yourself “What other game doesn’t have flinching?”
The little flag pistol glitch is annoying when I fire the first round of my pistol I am unable to fire again for a couple seconds at times.
The hit boxes for splatters need to be adjusted, at times I will ram someone in a ghost at full speed and do no damage but when I literally move an inch at 1/4 of a mile an hour I will kill them. Base weapon damage needs to be reduced towards vehicles because taking out a ghost with a couple DMR’s is no biggy.
The hit boxes for head shots need to be adjusted as well because I have noticed me physically getting head shots when players are no shields but continue to frolic around the map.
