Halo 4 visuals

I have to admit … I took a break from Halo to explore the new GTA for a few weeks, and yesterday I decided to start the Halo 4 campaign again, and I gotta say, that game is gorgeous. It’s almost a year old and still looks better than most newer games. A lot of the visual flairs and effects seem to be lost in matchmaking, but seeing the edges of Chief’s helmet bob around, the lens flair, the grit on the armor, the lighting, shadows … the sunlight through the smoke in the Reqiem misson.
There really isn’t any point to this post other than to say that the artwork and visuals in Halo 4 are exceptional. Lovely audio, too.

love the graphics. cant wait to see next gen

The beauty of H4 pushes the Xbox 360 to it’s limits, but it is worth in. (Except in Matchmaking). My favourite artistic moment is in the last mission, when you get your broadsword to the entrance of the Didact’s ship and you look up at Earth.

It did win that award last year ; )

Agree. They went all out graphically with the campaign. Definitely pushed the 360 to it’s limits.

I still can’t get over how good the Didact and his armor looked in that last cutscene.

  • everything else but all the Forerunner stuff was beyond cool.

Was in love when the AR gets pulled up in behinning of Dawn.

This is true.

The effort 343 put into the campaign is truly remarkable. Even when they took over in Halo Reach, we saw the immediate push towards beauty and awe in their maps. Halo 4 is definitely the “best looking” game. I hope 343 keeps it up in Halo 5, I shudder at the thought of what they could do on a new console. thinks about the flood

Some review I read said that Grand Theft Auto V had, by far, the best visuals on offer for the Xbox 360. I couldn’t even believe that was being suggested. Grand Theft Auto V looks great for what it is, but the jagged edges and horribly awkward character animations make it look cheap real fast. When I read that review, I couldn’t stop thinking Gears of War 3 and Halo 4. I personally think that Gears of War 3 is still the best-looking overall game on the Xbox 360, and I believe that it will always hold that crown. Halo 4 is a close second, though. Halo 4 is very beautiful, and the animations are very natural and weighty. It’s very cinematic.

While Halo 4 is beautiful graphically, MM suffered as a consequence. I would have preferred slightly downplayed graphics for a better MM experience.

Maybe. I’m not sure the impact is what you’re making it out to be though.

Halo 4 is definitely has the best graphics on Xbox 360, better even than Skyrim IMO (and Skyrim was beautiful).

Can’t wait to see what 343i does on the Xbox One.

The only people who think otherwise are the over obsessed fans. I’m one but I love the way it looks.

It is beautiful isn’t it?

Definitely! I loved how I could stare and actually observe how detailed it was, not in the small things but in how well done the scenery and other things were. Truly is one of the best looking games to me. If anything the color palette is what 343i really improved on and I hope they just add a few more… I don’t know what it is but it feels that if they just improved it just a little more somehow in colors, tones, or variety it could be something truly perfect.

The campaign is visual stunning, it is a shame we cant capture any of it in theatre. I like the plants, they look really good.

The visuals are pretty good, but I do wish the Forerunner visuals were more varied. I miss the ruins from Halo 2 and the ruins from Sandtrap. Everything in Halo 4 looked like it came out of Tron.

The environments were quite stunning, but the lack of Covenant themed spaces leaves me wanting more.

I am still annoyed Fireteam Shadow got to blow up a Covenant ship in Spartan Ops while we went to The Refuge…again. Would’ve loved to see the inside of a ship.
